41 | يا ملأ الارض ان استمعوا ما يامرکم به القلم من لدن مالک الامم فاعلموا انّ الشّرايع قد انتهت الی الشّريعة المنشعبة من البحر الاعظم ان اقبلوا اليها امرا من لدنّا انّا کنّا حاکمين. فانظروا العالم کهيکل انسان اعترته الامراض و برئه منوط باتّحاد من فيه ان اجتمعوا علی ما شرعناه لکم و لا تتّبعوا سبل المختلفين. قد انتهت الاعياد الی العيدين الاعظمين الاوّل ايّام فيها تجلّى اللّه باسمائه الحسنى علی من فى السّموات و الارضين و الاخر يوم فيه بعثنا من بشّر العباد بهذا النّبأ العظيم و آخرين فى يومين کذلک حدّد فى الکتاب من لدن مقتدر قدير. تلک اربعة کاملة و عن ورائها ان اشتغلوا بامورکم و لا تمنعوا انفسکم عن الاقتراف و الصّنائع کذلک قضى الامر و اتى الحکم من لدن ربّکم العليم الحکيم. Give ear, O peoples of the earth, unto that which the Pen of the Lord of all nations commandeth you. Know ye of a certainty that the Dispensations of the past have attained their highest, their final consummation in the Law that hath branched out from this Most Great Ocean. Haste ye thereunto at Our behest. We, verily, ordain as We please. Regard ye the world as a man's body, which is afflicted with divers ailments, and the recovery of which dependeth upon the harmonizing of all of its component elements. Gather ye around that which We have prescribed unto you, and walk not in the ways of such as create dissension. 153 All feasts have attained their consummation in the two Most Great Festivals, and in two other Festivals that fall on the twin days -- the first of the Most Great Festivals being those days whereon God shed the effulgent glory of His most excellent Names upon all who are in heaven and on earth, and the second being that day on which We raised up the One Who announced unto the people the glad tidings of this Great Announcement.15 Thus hath it been set down in the Book by Him Who is the Mighty, the Powerful. On other than these four consummate days, engage ye in your daily occupations, and withhold yourselves not from the pursuit of your trades and crafts. Thus hath the command been issued and the law gone forth from Him Who is your Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. (edit) |
O assembly of the earth, listen to what the Pen commands you from the Lord of the nations, and know that the laws have culminated in the Law branching from the Greatest Ocean. Embrace it by a command from Us; indeed, We are the Rulers. So consider the world as a human edifice afflicted by diseases, and its healing is dependent on the unity of those within it. If you come together on what We have legislated for you, do not follow the paths of the divided. The festivals have ended in the two greatest feasts: the first, days in which God was revealed by His Most Beautiful Names to those in the heavens and the earth, and the second, the day on which We sent forth one who announced to the servants this great news, and others in two days. Thus, it has been determined in the Book from One Mighty, Able. These are four complete, and beyond them, you may engage in your affairs and do not prevent yourselves from committing and crafts. Thus the matter has been decreed, and the judgment has come from your Lord, the Knowing, the Wise. (edit) |
42 | قل يا ملأ القسّيسين و الرّهبان کلوا ما احلّه اللّه و لا تجتنبوا اللّحوم قد اذن اللّه لکم اکلها الّا فى ايّام معدودات فضلا من لدنه انّه لهو العزيز الکريم. ضعوا ما عندکم خذوا ما اراده اللّه هذا خير لکم ان انتم من العارفين. قد کتبنا الصّوم تسعة عشر يوما فى اعدل الفصول و عفونا ما دونها فى هذا الظّهور المشرق المنير. کذلک فصّلنا و بيّنّا لکم ما امرتم به لتّتبعوا اوامر اللّه و تجتمعوا علی ما قدّر لکم من لدن عزيز حکيم. انّ ربّکم الرّحمن يحبّ ان يرى من فى الاکوان کنفس واحدة و هيکل واحدٍ ان اغتنموا فضل اللّه و رحمته فى تلک الايّام الّتى ما رات عين الابداع شبهها طوبى لمن نبذ ما عنده ابتغآء لما عند اللّه نشهد انّه من الفائزين. Say: O concourse of priests and monks! Eat ye of that which God hath made lawful unto you and do not shun meat. God hath, as a token of His grace, granted you leave to partake thereof save during a brief period. He, verily, is the Mighty, the Beneficent. Forsake all that ye possess and hold fast unto that which God hath purposed. This is that which profiteth you, if ye be of them that comprehend. We have ordained a fast of nineteen days in the most temperate of the seasons, and have in this resplendent and luminous Dispensation relieved you from more than this. Thus have We set forth and made clear unto you that which ye are bidden to observe, that ye may follow the commandments of God and be united in that which the Almighty, the All-Wise, hath appointed unto you. He Who is your Lord, the All-Merciful, cherisheth in His heart the desire of beholding the entire human race as one soul and one body. Haste ye to win your share of God's good grace and mercy in this Day that eclipseth all other created Days. How great the felicity that awaiteth the man that forsaketh all he hath in a desire to obtain the things of God! Such a man, We testify, is among God's blessed ones. (edit) |
Say, O assembly of priests and monks, eat what God has permitted and do not avoid meats. God has allowed you to eat them except on specific numbered days, a grace from Him; indeed, He is the Mighty, the Generous. Lay down what you have and take what God wants; this is better for you if you are among those who know. We have prescribed fasting for nineteen days in the fairest of seasons, and We have excused what is below that in this luminous, radiant appearance. Thus have We detailed and explained to you what you have been commanded, so that you may follow God's commands and come together on what has been determined for you from One Mighty, Wise. Indeed, your Lord, the Merciful, loves to see from those in the worlds a single breath and one edifice. If you take advantage of God's grace and mercy in those days the likes of which the eye of creation has never seen, blessed is he who casts aside what he has, seeking what is with God; We witness that he is among the successful. 43 | ان يا ملک ان اشهد بما شهد اللّه لذاته بذاته قبل خلق سمائه و ارضه انّه لا اله الّا انا الواحد الفرد المتعالی العزيز المنيع. قم بالاستقامة الکبرى علی امر ربّک الابهى کذلک امرت فى هذا اللّوح البديع. انّا ما اردنا لک الّا ما هو خير لک عمّا علی الارض کلّها و يشهد بذلک کلّ الاشيآء و عن ورآئها هذا الکتاب المبين. تفکّر فى الدّنيا و شأن اهلها انّ الّذى خلق العالم لنفسه قد حبس فى اخرب الدّيار بما اکتسبت ايدى الظالمين و من افق السّجن يدعو النّاس الی فجر اللّه العلىّ العظيم. هل تفرح بما عندک من الزّخارف بعد الّذى تعلم انّها ستفنى او تسترّ بما تحکم علی شبر من الارض بعد الّذى کلّها لم يکن عند اهل البهآء الّا کسواد عين نملة ميتة دعها لاهلها ثمّ اقبل الی مقصود العالمين. اين اهل الغرور و قصورهم فانظر فى قبورهم لتعتبر بما جعلناها عبرة للنّاظرين. لو تاخذک نفحات الوحى لتفرّ من الملک مقبلا الی الملکوت و تنفق ما عندک للتّقرّب الی هذا المنظر الکريم. انّا نرى اکثر العباد عبدة الاسمآء کما تراهم يلقون انفسهم فى المهالک لابقآء اسمآئهم بعد الّذى يشهد کلّ ذى دراية انّ الاسم لا ينفع احدا بعد موته الّا بان ينسب الی اللّه العزيز الحميد. کذلک سلّطت عليهم الاوهام جزآء اعمالهم فانظر فى قلّة عقولهم يبتغون ما لا ينفعهم بمنتهى الجدّ و الاجتهاد و لو تسئلهم هل ينفعکم ما اردتم تجدهم متحيّرين و لو ينصف احد يقول لا و ربّ العالمين. هذا شان النّاس و ما عندهم دعهم فى خوضهم ثمّ ولّ وجهک شطر اللّه هذا ما ينبغى لک ان استنصح بما نصحت من لدن ربّک و قل انّ الحمد لک يا اله من فى السّموات و الارضين. O King! Bear thou witness unto that which God hath Himself and for Himself borne witness ere the creation of earth and heaven, that there is none other God but Me, the One, the Single, the Most Exalted, the Incomparable, the Inaccessible. Arise with the utmost steadfastness in the Cause of thy Lord, the All-Glorious. Thus hast thou been instructed in this wondrous Tablet. We, verily, have desired naught for thee save that which is better for thee than all that is on earth. Unto this testify all created things and beyond them this perspicuous Book. 156 Meditate on the world and the state of its people. He, for Whose sake the world was called into being, hath been imprisoned in the most desolate of cities,{~~} by reason of that which the hands of the wayward have wrought. From the horizon of His prison-city He summoneth mankind unto the Dayspring of God, the Exalted, the Great. Exultest thou over the treasures thou dost possess, knowing they shall perish? Rejoicest thou in that thou rulest a span of earth, when the whole world, in the estimation of the people of Bahá, is worth as much as the black in the eye of a dead ant? Abandon it unto such as have set their affections upon it, and turn thou unto Him Who is the Desire of the world. Whither are gone the proud and their palaces? Gaze thou into their tombs, that thou mayest profit by this example, inasmuch as We made it a lesson unto every beholder. Were the breezes of Revelation to seize thee, thou wouldst flee the world, and turn unto the Kingdom, and wouldst expend all thou possessest, that thou mayest draw nigh unto this sublime Vision. 157 We behold the generality of mankind worshipping names and exposing themselves, as thou dost witness, to dire perils in the mere hope of perpetuating their names, whilst every perceiving soul testifieth that after death one's name shall avail him nothing except insofar as it beareth a relationship unto God, the Almighty, the All-Praised. Thus have their vain imaginings taken hold of them in requital for that which their hands have wrought. Consider the pettiness of men's minds. They seek with utmost exertion that which profiteth them not, and yet wert thou to ask of them: ``Is there any advantage in that which ye desire?, thou wouldst find them sorely perplexed. Were a fair-minded soul to be found, he would reply: ``Nay, by the Lord of the worlds! Such is the condition of the people and of that which they possess. Leave them in their folly and turn thy sight unto God. This is in truth that which beseemeth thee. Hearken then unto the counsel of thy Lord, and say: Lauded art Thou, O God of all who are in heaven and on earth! (edit) |
Indeed, O King, I bear witness to what God has borne witness to Himself for Himself, before the creation of His heavens and His earth, that there is no god but I, the One, the Singular, the Exalted, the Mighty, the Impenetrable. Stand with great uprightness at the command of your Most Glorious Lord, so have you been commanded in this wondrous Tablet. We desire for you nothing but what is better for you than all that is on the earth, and all things, and beyond them, this clear Book bear witness to it. Reflect upon the world and the condition of its people. Indeed, He who created the world for Himself has been confined in the most desolate of homes by what the hands of the oppressors have wrought, and from the horizon of the prison, He calls people to the dawn of God, the Most High, the Great.
Do you rejoice in your ornaments, knowing that they will perish, or do you boast about your rule over a span of earth, knowing that to the people of splendor it was but like the blackness of a dead ant's eye? Leave it to its people, then turn to the Desired One of the worlds. Where are the people of vanity and their palaces? Look into their graves to take a lesson from what We have made an example for the onlookers. If the breezes of revelation take you, you would flee from the kingdom, turning to the dominion, and expend what you have to draw near to this noble sight. We see that most of the servants are worshipers of names, as you see them casting themselves into destruction to preserve their names, after which everyone with insight bears witness that the name benefits no one after his death unless attributed to God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy. Thus have delusions been set over them as a reward for their deeds, so look at their shallow minds, seeking with utmost seriousness and effort what does not benefit them. If you ask them, "Does what you seek benefit you?" you find them bewildered. If anyone is just, he would say, "No, by the Lord of the worlds." This is the condition of the people and what they have; leave them in their plunge, then turn your face towards God. This is what is fitting for you, to take counsel with what you have been counseled from your Lord, and say, "Indeed, all praise is for You, O God of all that is in the heavens and the earth." 44 | ان يا ملک الرّوس ان استمع ندآء اللّه الملک القدّوس ثمّ اقبل الی الفردوس المقرّ الّذى فيه استقرّ من سمّى بالاسمآء الحسنى بين ملأ الأعلی و فى ملکوت الانشآء باسم اللّه البهىّ الابهى. ايّاک ان يحجبک هويک عن التّوجّه الی وجه ربّک الرّحمن الرّحيم. انّا سمعنا ما ناديت به موليک فى نجويک لذا هاج عرف عنايتى و ماج بحر رحمتى و اجبناک بالحقّ انّ ربّک لهو العليم الحکيم. قد نصرنى احد سفرائک اذ کنت فى السّجن تحت السّلاسل و الاغلال بذلک کتب اللّه لک مقاما لم يحط به علم احد الّا هو. ايّاک ان تبدّل هذا المقام العظيم انّ ربّک لهو القادر علی ما يشاء يمحو ما اراد و يثبت و عنده علم کلّ شىء فى لوح حفيظ. ايّاک ان يمنعک الملک عن المالک انّه قد اتى بملکوته و تنادى الذّرات قد ظهر الرّب بمجده العظيم قد اتى الاب و الابن فى الواد المقدّس يقول لبّيک اللّهم لبّيک و الطّور يطوف حول البيت و الشّجر ينادى باعلی النّدآء قد اتى الوهّاب راکبا علی السّحاب طوبى لمن تقرّب اليه ويل للمبعدين. قم بين النّاس بهذا الامر المبرم ثمّ ادع الامم الی اللّه العلىّ العظيم. لا تکن من الّذين کانوا ان يدعوا اللّه باسم من الاسمآء فلمّا اتى المسمّى کفروا به و اعرضوا عنه الی ان افتوا عليه بظلم مبين و انظر ثمّ اذکر الايّام الّتى فيها اتى الرّوح و حکم عليه هيرودس قد نصر اللّه الرّوح بجنود الغيب و حفظه بالحقّ و ارسله الی ارض اخرى وعدا من عنده انّه لهو الحاکم علی ما يريد. انّ ربّک يحفظ من يشاء لو يکون فى قطب البحر او فى فم الثّعبان او تحت سيوف الظّالمين. طوبى لملک ما منعته سبحات الجلال عن التّوجّه الی مشرق الجمال و نبذ ما عنده ابتغآء ما عند اللّه الا انّه من خيرة الخلق لدى الحق يصلّينّ عليه اهل الفردوس و الّذين يطوفون حول العرش فى البکور و الاصيل. ان استمع ندائى مرّة اخرى من شطر سجنى ليطّلعک بما ورد علی جمالی من مظاهر جلالی و تعرف صبرى بعد قدرتى و اصطبارى بعد اقتدارى و عمرى لو تعرف ما نزّل من قلمى و تطّلع بخزائن امرى و لئالی اسرارى فى بحور اسمائى و اواعى کلماتى لتفدى نفسک فى سبيلی حبّا لاسمى و شوقا الی ملکوتى العزيز المنيع. O Czar of Russia! Incline thine ear unto the voice of God, the King, the Holy, and turn thou unto Paradise, the Spot wherein abideth He Who, among the Concourse on high, beareth the most excellent titles, and Who, in the kingdom of creation, is called by the name of God, the Effulgent, the All-Glorious. Beware lest thy desire deter thee from turning towards the face of thy Lord, the Compassionate, the Most Merciful. We, verily, have heard the thing for which thou didst supplicate thy Lord, whilst secretly communing with Him. Wherefore, the breeze of My loving-kindness wafted forth, and the sea of My mercy surged, and We answered thee in truth. Thy Lord, verily, is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Whilst I lay chained and fettered in the prison, one of thy ministers extended Me his aid. Wherefore hath God ordained for thee a station which the knowledge of none can comprehend except His knowledge. Beware lest thou barter away this sublime station. Thy Lord, verily, doeth what He willeth. What He pleaseth will God abrogate or confirm, and with Him is the knowledge of all things in a Guarded Tablet. 159 Beware lest thy sovereignty withhold thee from Him Who is the Supreme Sovereign. He, verily, is come with His Kingdom, and all the atoms cry aloud: ``Lo! The Lord is come in His great majesty! He Who is the Father is come, and the Son, in the holy vale, crieth out: ``Here am I, here am I, O Lord, My God!, whilst Sinai circleth round the House, and the Burning Bush calleth aloud: ``The All-Bounteous is come mounted upon the clouds! Blessed is he that draweth nigh unto Him, and woe betide them that are far away. 160 Arise thou amongst men in the name of this all-compelling Cause, and summon, then, the nations unto God, the Exalted, the Great. Be thou not of them who called upon God by one of His names, but who, when He Who is the Object of all names appeared, denied Him and turned aside from Him, and, in the end, pronounced sentence against Him with manifest injustice. Consider and call thou to mind the days whereon the Spirit of God appeared, and Herod gave judgement against Him. God, however, aided Him with the hosts of the unseen, and protected Him with truth, and sent Him down unto another land, according to His promise. He, verily, ordaineth what He pleaseth. Thy Lord truly preserveth whom He willeth, be he in the midst of the seas, or in the maw of the serpent, or beneath the sword of the oppressor. 161 Blessed be the king whom the veils of glory have not deterred from turning unto the Dayspring of beauty and who hath forsaken his all in his desire to obtain the things of God. He, indeed, is accounted in the sight of God as the most excellent of men, and is extolled by the inmates of paradise and them that circle morn and eve round the Throne on high. 162 Again I say: Hearken unto My voice that calleth from My prison, that it may acquaint thee with the things that have befallen My Beauty, at the hands of them that are the manifestations of My glory, and that thou mayest perceive how great hath been My patience, notwithstanding My might, and how immense My forbearance, notwithstanding My power. By My life! Couldst thou but know the things sent down by My Pen, and discover the treasures of My Cause, and the pearls of My mysteries which lie hid in the seas of My names and in the goblets of My words, thou wouldst, in thy love for My name, and in thy longing for My glorious and sublime Kingdom, lay down thy life in My path. Know thou that though My body be beneath the swords of My foes, and My limbs be beset with incalculable afflictions, yet My spirit is filled with a gladness with which all the joys of the earth can never compare. O King of Russia, hearken to the call of God, the sovereign, the holy, then turn to the paradise, the abode wherein dwelt He who was named with the beautiful Names, amongst the celestial concourse, and in the kingdom of creation, in the name of God, the glorious, the most glorious. Let not your passion prevent you from turning to the face of your Lord, the Merciful, the Compassionate. We have heard what you have proclaimed to your Sovereign in your secret prayers; therefore, my bounty was stirred, and the sea of my mercy was agitated, and I answered you in truth. Verily, your Lord is the Knowing, the Wise. One of your ambassadors has helped me when I was in prison, under chains and shackles, thus God has decreed for you a station that no one knows except Him. Beware lest you exchange this great station. Verily, your Lord is capable of doing whatever He wills. He effaces whatever He wishes and confirms, and with Him is the knowledge of everything in a preserved tablet.
Beware lest the kingdom prevent you from the Sovereign. He has come with His dominion, and the atoms cry out: The Lord has appeared with His great glory. The Father and the Son have come to the holy valley, saying, "Here we are, O God, here we are," and the Mount circumambulates around the House, and the trees call out with the highest cry: The Giver has come, riding upon the clouds. Blessed is he who draws near to Him, woe to those who are far off. Arise among the people with this firm decree, then call the nations to God, the Most High, the Great. Do not be of those who, if they call upon God by one of the Names, and when the named One comes, they disbelieve in Him and turn away from Him, until they unjustly decree against Him; look, then remember the days in which the Spirit came, and Herod judged Him. God supported the Spirit with invisible hosts and protected Him with the truth, and sent Him to another land, promising Him that He is the ruler over whatever He wills. Verily, your Lord preserves whom He wills, whether he is in the pole of the sea, or in the mouth of the serpent, or under the swords of the oppressors. Blessed is the king who is not prevented by the embellishments of glory from turning to the sunrise of beauty, and discards what he has in seeking what is with God, except that he is from the choice of creation before the truth, upon whom the inhabitants of paradise and those who circumambulate around the Throne, in the morning and the evening, pray. If you hearken to my call again from my prison's direction, to acquaint you with what has appeared upon my beauty from the manifestations of my glory, and to know my patience after my power, and my steadfastness after my ability, and my life - if you knew what has descended from my pen, and looked into the treasuries of my command, and the gems of my secrets, in the oceans of my Names, and the receptacles of my words - you would sacrifice yourself in my path, out of love for my Name and longing for my invincible, impregnable dominion. 45 | فاعلم جسمى تحت سيوف الاعدآء و جسدى فى بلآء لا يحصى و لکنّ الرّوح فى بشارة لا يعادلها فرح العالمين. اقبل الی قبلة العالم بقلبک و قل يا ملأ الارض اکفرتم بالّذى استشهد فى سبيله من اتى بالحقّ بنباء ربّکم العلىّ العظيم. قل هذا نباءٌ استبشرت به افئدة النّبيّين و المرسلين هذا لهو المذکور فى قلب العالم و الموعود فى صحائف اللّه العزيز الحکيم. قد ارتفعت ايادى الرّسل للقائى الی اللّه العزيز الحميد. يشهد بذلک ما نزّل فى الالواح من لدن مقتدر قدير. منهم من ناح فى فراقى و منهم من حمل الشّدائد فى سبيلی و منهم من فدى نفسه لجمالی ان انتم من العارفين. قل انّى ما اردت وصف نفسى بل نفس اللّه لو انتم من المنصفين. لا يرى فىّ الّا اللّه و امره لو انتم من المتبصّرين. قل انّى انا المذکور بلسان اشعيا و زيّن باسمى التّورية و الانجيل کذلک قضى الامر فى الواح ربّکم الرّحمن انّه شهد لی و انا اشهد له و اللّه علی ما اقول شهيد. قل ما نزّلت الکتب الّا لذکرى يجد منها کلّ مقبل عرف اسمى و ثنائى و الّذى فتح سمع فواده يسمع من کلّ کلمة منها قد اتى الحقّ انّه لمحبوب العالمين. انّ لسانى ينصحکم خالصا لوجه اللّه و قلمى يتحرّک علی ذکرکم بعد الّذى لا يضرّنى ضرّ من علی الارض و اعراضهم و لا ينفعنى اقبال الخلائق اجمعين. انّا نذکّرکم بما امرنا به و ما نريد منکم شيئا الّا تقرّبکم الی ما ينفعکم فى الدّنيا و الاخرة. قل اتقتلون الّذى يدعوکم الی الحيوة الباقية اتّقوا اللّه و لا تتّبعوا کلّ جبّار عنيد. قل يا ملأ الغرور اترون انفسکم فى القصور و سلطان الظّهور فى اخرب البيوت لا لعمرى انتم فى القبور لو تکوننّ من الشّاعرين. انّ الّذى لن يهتزّ من نسمة اللّه فى ايّامه انّه من الاموات لدى اللّه مالک الاسمآء و الصّفات. قوموا عن قبور الهوى مقبلين الی ملکوت ربّکم مالک العرش و الثّرى لتروا ما وعدتم به من قبل من لدن ربّکم العليم. اتظّنون ينفعکم ما عندکم سوف يملکه غيرکم و ترجعون الی التّراب من غير ناصر و معين لا خير فى حيوة ياتيه الموت و لا لبقآء يدرکه الفنا و لا لنعمة تتغيّر دعوا ما عندکم و اقبلوا الی نعمة اللّه الّتى نزّلت بهذا الاسم البديع. کذلک غرّد لک القلم الاعلی باذن ربّک الابهى اذا سمعت و قرئت قل لک الحمد يا اله العالمين بما ذکرتنى بلسان مظهر نفسک اذ کان مقيّدا فى السّجن الاعظم لعتق العالمين. طوبى لملک ما منعه الملک عن مالکه و اقبل الی اللّه بقلبه انّه ممنّ فاز بما اراد اللّه العزيز الحکيم سوف يرى نفسه من ملوک ممالک الملکوت انّ ربّک لهو المقتدر علی ما يشآء يعطى من يشآء ما يشآء و يمنع عمّن يشآء ما اراد انّه لهو المقتدر القدير. Set thine heart towards Him Who is the Point of adoration for the world, and say: ``O peoples of the earth! Have ye denied the One in Whose path He Who came with the truth, bearing the announcement of your Lord, the Exalted, the Great, suffered martyrdom? Say: This is an Announcement whereat the hearts of the Prophets and Messengers have rejoiced. This is the One Whom the heart of the world remembereth, and is promised in the Books of God, the Mighty, the All-Wise. The hands of the Messengers were, in their desire to meet Me, upraised towards God, the Mighty, the Glorified. Unto this testifieth that which hath been sent down in the sacred Scriptures by Him Who is the Lord of might and power. 164 Some lamented in their separation from Me, others endured hardships in My path, and still others laid down their lives for the sake of My Beauty, could ye but know it. Say: I, verily, have not sought to extol Mine own Self, but rather God Himself, were ye to judge fairly. Naught can be seen in Me except God and His Cause, could ye but perceive it. I am the One Whom the tongue of Isaiah hath extolled, the One with Whose name both the Torah and the Evangel were adorned. Thus hath it been decreed in the Scriptures of thy Lord, the Most Merciful. He, verily, hath borne witness unto Me, as I bear witness unto Him. And God testifieth to the truth of My words. 165 Say: The Books have been sent down for naught but My remembrance. Whosoever is receptive to their call shall perceive therefrom the sweet fragrances of My name and My praise; and he who hath unstopped the ear of his inmost heart shall hear from every word thereof: ``The True One is come! He indeed is the beloved of the worlds! 166 It is for the sake of God alone that My tongue counselleth you and that My pen moveth to make mention of you, for neither can the malice and denial of all who dwell on earth harm Me, nor the allegiance of the entire creation profit Me. We, verily, exhort you unto that which We were commanded, and desire naught from you except that ye draw nigh unto what shall profit you in both this world and the world to come. Say: Will ye slay Him Who summoneth you unto life everlasting? Fear ye God, and follow not every contumacious oppressor. 167 O proud ones of the earth! Do ye believe yourselves to be abiding in palaces whilst He Who is the King of Revelation resideth in the most desolate of abodes? Nay, by My life! In tombs do ye dwell, could ye but perceive it. Verily, he who faileth, in these days, to be stirred by the breeze of God is accounted among the dead in the sight of Him Who is the Lord of all names and attributes. Arise, then, from the tombs of self and desire and turn unto the Kingdom of God, the Possessor of the Throne on high and of earth below, that ye may behold that which ye were promised aforetime by your Lord, the All-Knowing. 168 Think ye that the things ye possess shall profit you? Soon others will possess them and ye will return unto the dust with none to help or succour you. What advantage is there in a life that can be overtaken by death, or in an existence that is doomed to extinction, or in a prosperity that is subject to change? Cast away the things that ye possess and set your faces toward the favours of God which have been sent down in this wondrous Name. 169 Thus doth the Pen of the Most High warble unto thee its melodies by the leave of thy Lord, the All-Glorious. When thou hast heard and recited them, say: ``Praise be unto Thee, O Lord of all the worlds, inasmuch as Thou hast made mention of me through the tongue of Him Who is the Manifestation of Thy Self at a time when He was confined in the Most Great Prison, that the whole world might attain unto true liberty. 170 Blessed be the king whose sovereignty hath withheld him not from his Sovereign, and who hath turned unto God with his heart. He, verily, is accounted of those that have attained unto that which God, the Mighty, the All-Wise, hath willed. Erelong will such a one find himself numbered with the monarchs of the realms of the Kingdom. Thy Lord is, in truth, potent over all things. He giveth what He willeth to whomsoever He willeth, and withholdeth what He pleaseth from whomsoever He willeth. He, verily, is the All-Powerful, the Almighty. (edit) |
Know my body under the swords of the enemies and my flesh in a calamity that cannot be counted, but the soul is in a glad tidings that no joy of the worlds equals. Turn to the Qibla of the world with your heart and say, "O people of the earth, have you disbelieved in the one who was martyred for His cause, who came with the truth with the news of your exalted, great Lord? Say, this is news that has delighted the hearts of the Prophets and the Messengers; this is the play mentioned in the heart of the world, and promised in the scrolls of God, the Mighty, the Wise. The hands of the messengers have been raised to meet me to God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy. It is witnessed by what was revealed in the tablets from an able, mighty one. Some of them wailed in my absence, some of them endured hardships in my way, and some of them sacrificed themselves for my beauty, if you are among those who know. Say, I did not want to describe myself but the soul of God if you are among the fair. Nothing is seen in me but God and His command, if you are among those who observe. Say, I am the one mentioned by the tongue of Isaiah and adorned with my name in the Torah and the Gospel; so the matter has been decreed in the tablets of your Lord, the Compassionate. He has borne witness for me, and I bear witness for Him, and God is a witness over what I say. Say, the books have not been revealed but for my remembrance; every seeker who knows my name and praise, and who opens the hearing of his heart, hears from every word of it that the truth has come. Indeed, He is the beloved of the worlds.
Indeed, my tongue advises you sincerely for the sake of God, and my pen moves in your remembrance after what does not harm me: the harm of those on earth and their avoidance, nor benefits me the approach of all creatures. We remind you of what we commanded you, and we do not want anything from you but to bring you closer to what benefits you in this world and the Hereafter. Say, do you kill the one who calls you to eternal life? Fear God, and do not follow every arrogant tyrant. Say, O people of vanity, do you see yourselves in the palaces and the Sultan of appearances in the ruined houses? No, by my life, you are in the graves if you are among the poets. The one who will not be shaken by the breath of God in his days is indeed among the dead with God, the Owner of the names and attributes. Rise from the graves of desire, turning to the kingdom of your Lord, the Owner of the throne and the earth, to see what you were promised from before, from your knowing Lord. Do you think what you have will benefit you? Others will own it, and you will return to the dust without a helper or supporter. There is no good in a life that death comes to, nor for permanence that decay reaches, nor for a blessing that changes. Leave what you have and turn to the blessing of God that has come down with this beautiful name. So sang to you the highest pen by the permission of your most glorious Lord, when you heard and read, say to Him, praise be to You, O God of the worlds, for You have mentioned me with the tongue of the manifestation of Your soul, when it was confined in the greatest prison for the liberation of the worlds. Blessed is the king, whose kingdom did not prevent him from his Owner, and turned to God with his heart. He is among those who have succeeded in what God, the Mighty, the Wise, wanted. He will see himself from the kings of the kingdoms of the kingdom; indeed, your Lord is the one who is able to do whatever He wills. He gives to whom He wills whatever He wills and denies from whom He wills what He desired. Indeed, He is the one who is able, mighty. (edit) |
46 | يا ايّتها الملکة فى اللّوندرة ان استمعى ندآء ربّک مالک البريّة من السّدرة الالهيّة انّه لا اله الّا انا العزيز الحکيم ضعى ما علی الارض ثمّ زيّنى راس الملک باکليل ذکر ربّک الجليل انّه قد اتى فى العالم بمجده الاعظم و کمل ما ذکر فى الانجيل قد تشّرف برّ الشّام بقدوم ربّه مالک الانام و اخذ سکر خمر الوصال شطر الجنوب و الشّمال طوبى لمن وجد عرف الرّحمن و اقبل الی مشرق الجمال فى هذا الفجر المبين. قد اهتزّ المسجد الاقصى من نسمات ربّه الابهى و البطحآء من ندآء اللّه العلىّ الاعلی اذاً کل حصاة منها تسبّح الرّب بهذا الاسم العظيم. دعى هويک ثمّ اقبلی بقلبک الی موليک القديم انّا نذکّرک لوجه اللّه و نحبّ ان يعلو اسمک بذکر ربّک خالق الارض و السّماء انّه علی ما اقول شهيد. قد بلغنا انّک منعت بيع الغلمان و الامآء هذا ما حکم به اللّه فى هذا الظّهور البديع. قد کتب اللّه لک جزآء ذلک انّه موفّى اجور المحسنين ان تتّبعى ما ارسل اليک من لدن عليم خبير. انّ الّذى اعرض و استکبر بعد ما جائته البيّنات من لدن منزل الايات ليحبط اللّه عمله انّه علی کلّ شىء قدير. انّ الاعمال تقبل بعد الاقبال من اعرض عن الحقّ انّه من احجب الخلق کذلک قدّر من لدن عزيز قدير و سمعنا انّک اودعت زمام المشاورة بايادى الجمهور نعم ما عملت لانّ بها تستحکم اصول ابنية الامور و تطمئنّ قلوب من فى ظلّک من کلّ وضيع و شريف و لکن ينبغى لهم بان يکونوا امنآء بين العباد و يرون انفسهم وکلاء لمن علی الارض کلّها هذا ما وعظوا به فى اللّوح من لدن مدّبر حکيم و اذا توجّه احد الی المجمع يحوّل طرفه الی الافق الاعلی و يقول يا الهى اسئلک باسمک الابهى بان تويّدنى علی ما تصلح به امور عبادک و تعمر به بلادک انّک انت علی کلّ شىء قدير. طوبى لمن يدخل المجمع لوجه اللّه و يحکم بين النّاس بالعدل الخالص الا انّه من الفائزين. O Queen in London! Incline thine ear unto the voice of thy Lord, the Lord of all mankind, calling from the Divine Lote-Tree: Verily, no God is there but Me, the Almighty, the All-Wise! Cast away all that is on earth, and attire the head of thy kingdom with the crown of the remembrance of thy Lord, the All-Glorious. He, in truth, hath come unto the world in His most great glory, and all that hath been mentioned in the Gospel hath been fulfilled. The land of Syria hath been honoured by the footsteps of its Lord, the Lord of all men, and north and south are both inebriated with the wine of His presence. Blessed is the man that hath inhaled the fragrance of the Most Merciful, and turned unto the Dawning-Place of His Beauty, in this resplendent Dawn. The Mosque of Aqsá vibrateth through the breezes of its Lord, the All-Glorious, whilst Bathá{++} trembleth at the voice of God, the Exalted, the Most High. Whereupon every single stone of them celebrateth the praise of the Lord, through this Great Name. 172 Lay aside thy desire, and set then thine heart towards thy Lord, the Ancient of Days. We make mention of thee for the sake of God, and desire that thy name may be exalted through thy remembrance of God, the Creator of earth and heaven. He, verily, is witness unto that which I say. We have been informed that thou hast forbidden the trading in slaves, both men and women. This, verily, is what God hath enjoined in this wondrous Revelation. God hath, truly, destined a reward for thee, because of this. He, verily, will pay the doer of good his due recompense, wert thou to follow what hath been sent unto thee by Him Who is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. As to him who turneth aside, and swelleth with pride, after the clear tokens have come unto him from the Revealer of signs, his work shall God bring to naught. He, in truth, hath power over all things. Man's actions are acceptable after his having recognized (the Manifestation). He that turneth aside from the True One is indeed the most veiled amongst His creatures. Thus hath it been decreed by Him Who is the Almighty, the Most Powerful. 173 We have also heard that thou hast entrusted the reins of counsel into the hands of the representatives of the people. Thou, indeed, hast done well, for thereby the foundations of the edifice of thine affairs will be strengthened, and the hearts of all that are beneath thy shadow, whether high or low, will be tranquillized. It behoveth them, however, to be trustworthy among His servants, and to regard themselves as the representatives of all that dwell on earth. This is what counselleth them, in this Tablet, He Who is the Ruler, the All-Wise. And if any one of them directeth himself towards the Assembly, let him turn his eyes unto the Supreme Horizon, and say: ``O my God! I ask Thee, by Thy most glorious Name, to aid me in that which will cause the affairs of Thy servants to prosper, and Thy cities to flourish. Thou, indeed, hast power over all things! Blessed is he that entereth the Assembly for the sake of God, and judgeth between men with pure justice. He, indeed, is of the blissful. (edit) |

The Al-Aqsa Mosque has been stirred by the breezes of its Lord, the Most Glorious, and the courtyard from the call of God, the Most High, the Most High; every stone thereof praises the Lord with this Great Name. Abandon your desire, then turn with your heart to your Ancient Lord. We remind you for the sake of God, and we love that your name be exalted with the remembrance of your Lord, the Creator of the earth and the heavens. He is a Witness to what I say. We have been informed that you have forbidden the sale of male and female slaves; this is what God has decreed in this wondrous Revelation. God has written for you the reward for that; He is the one who fulfills the rewards of the beneficent. Follow what has been sent to you from the Knowing, the Aware. Verily, he who turns away and is arrogant after the clear proofs have come to him from the Revealer of signs, God will nullify his work; He is Powerful over all things. Verily, deeds are accepted after acceptance; he who turns away from the truth, he has been veiled from the creation, thus has it been decreed from the Mighty, the Able. We have heard that you have entrusted the reins of consultation to the hands of the public. Well done what you have done, for by it the foundations of the structure of matters are strengthened, and the hearts of those under your shadow, both insignificant and noble, are reassured. However, they must be trustworthy among the servants and see themselves as representatives of all who are upon the earth; this is what they were advised with in the Tablet from the Wise Planner. When anyone turns towards the assembly, he turns his eye to the highest horizon and says: O my God, I ask You by Your Most Glorious Name to assist me in what rectifies the affairs of Your servants and populates Your lands with it. You are Powerful over all things. Blessed is he who enters the assembly for the sake of God and judges between the people with pure justice; verily, he is of the successful. (edit) |
47 | يا اصحاب المجلس فى هناک و ديار اخرى تدبّروا و تکلّموا فيما يصلح به العالم و حاله لو انتم من المتوسّمين. فانظروا العالم کهيکل انسان انّه خلق صحيحاً کاملاً فاعترته الامراض بالاسباب المختلفة المتغايرة و ما طابت نفسه فى يوم بل اشتدّ مرضه بما وقع تحت تصرف اطبّآء غير حاذقة الّذين رکبوا مطيّة الهوى و کانوا من الهائمين و ان طاب عضو من اعضائه فى عصر من الاعصار بطبيب حاذق بقيت اعضآء اخرى فيما کان کذلک ينبّئکم العليم الخبير. و اليوم نريه تحت ايدى الّذين اخذهم سکر خمر الغرور علی شان لا يعرفون خير انفسهم فکيف هذا الامر الاوعر الخطير. ان سعى احد من هولاء فى صحّته لم يکن مقصوده الّا بان ينتفع به اسماً کان او رسماً لذا لا يقدر علی برئه الّا علی قدر مقدور و الّذى جعله اللّه الدّرياق الاعظم و السّبب الاتمّ لصحّته هو اتّحاد من علی الارض علی امر واحد و شريعة واحدة هذا لا يمکن ابداً الّا بطبيبٍ حاذقٍ کاملٍ مويّدٍ لعمرى هذا لهو الحقّ و ما بعده الّا الضّلال المبين. کلّما اتى ذاک السّبب الاعظم و اشرق ذاک النّور من مشرق القدم منعه المتطبّبون و صاروا سحاباً بينه و بين العالم لذا ما طاب مرضه و بقى فى سقمه الی الحين. انّهم لم يقدروا علی حفظه و صحّته و الّذى کان مظهر القدرة بين البريّة منع عمّا اراد بما اکتسبت ايدى المتطبّبين. فانظروا فى هذه الايّام الّتى اتى جمال القدم و الاسم الاعظم لحيوة العالم و اتّحادهم انّهم قاموا عليه باسياف شاحذة و ارتکبوا ما فزع به الرّوح الامين الی ان جعلوه مسجونا فى اخرب البلاد المقام الّذى انقطعت عن ذيله ايادى المقبلين. اذا قيل لهم اتى مصلح العالم قالوا قد تحقّق انّه من المفسدين بعد الّذى ما عاشروا معه و يرون انّه ما حفظ نفسه فى اقلّ من حين کان فى کلّ الاحيان بين ايادى اهل الطّغيان. مرّة حبسوه و طورا اخرجوه و تارة داروا به البلاد کذلک حکموا علينا و اللّه علی ما اقول عليم. اولئک من اجهل الخلق لدى الحقّ يقطعون اعضادهم و لا يشعرون يمنعون الخير من انفسهم و لا يعرفون. مثلهم کمثل الصّبيان لا يعرفون المفسد من المصلح و الشّرّ من الخير قد نراهم اليوم فى حجاب مبين. O ye the elected representatives of the people in every land! Take ye counsel together, and let your concern be only for that which profiteth mankind and bettereth the condition thereof, if ye be of them that scan heedfully. Regard the world as the human body which, though at its creation whole and perfect, hath been afflicted, through various causes, with grave disorders and maladies. Not for one day did it gain ease, nay its sickness waxed more severe, as it fell under the treatment of ignorant physicians, who gave full rein to their personal desires and have erred grievously. And if, at one time, through the care of an able physician, a member of that body was healed, the rest remained afflicted as before. Thus informeth you the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. 175 We behold it, in this day, at the mercy of rulers so drunk with pride that they cannot discern clearly their own best advantage, much less recognize a Revelation so bewildering and challenging as this. And whenever any one of them hath striven to improve its condition, his motive hath been his own gain, whether confessedly so or not; and the unworthiness of this motive hath limited his power to heal or cure. 176 That which the Lord hath ordained as the sovereign remedy and mightiest instrument for the healing of all the world is the union of all its peoples in one universal Cause, one common Faith. This can in no wise be achieved except through the power of a skilled, an all-powerful and inspired Physician. This, verily, is the truth, and all else naught but error. Each time that Most Mighty Instrument hath come, and that Light shone forth from the Ancient Dayspring, He was withheld by ignorant physicians who, even as clouds, interposed themselves between Him and the world. It failed, therefore, to recover, and its sickness hath persisted until this day. They indeed were powerless to protect it, or to effect a cure, whilst He Who hath been the Manifestation of Power amongst men was withheld from achieving His purpose, by reason of what the hands of the ignorant physicians have wrought. 177 Consider these days in which He Who is the Ancient Beauty hath come in the Most Great Name, that He may quicken the world and unite its peoples. They, however, rose up against Him with sharpened swords, and committed that which caused the Faithful Spirit to lament, until in the end they imprisoned Him in the most desolate of cities, and broke the grasp of the faithful upon the hem of His robe. Were anyone to tell them: ``The World Reformer is come, they would answer and say: ``Indeed it is proven that He is a fomenter of discord!, and this notwithstanding that they have never associated with Him, and have perceived that He did not seek, for one moment, to protect Himself. At all times He was at the mercy of the wicked doers. At one time they cast Him into prison, at another they banished Him, and at yet another hurried Him from land to land. Thus have they pronounced judgement against Us, and God, truly, is aware of what I say. Such men are reckoned by God among the most ignorant of His creatures. They cut off their own limbs and perceive it not; they deprive themselves of that which is best for them, and know it not. They are even as a young child who can distinguish neither the mischief-maker from the reformer nor the wicked from the righteous. We behold them in this Day wrapt in a palpable veil. (edit) |
O ye members of councils in those regions and in other lands, deliberate and speak concerning what will reform the world and its state if ye are of those who are insightful. Look upon the world as the body of a human being, created whole and perfect, then afflicted with various ailments due to different and varying causes. His soul has not been at ease for a day, but his illness has grown more severe as it has come under the treatment of unskilled physicians who have ridden the steed of desire and are lost. If a skilled physician has treated one of his organs during an era, the other organs have remained as they were, and thus the Wise and Knowing informs you. Today, we see it under the control of those who have been intoxicated by the wine of pride, so they do not recognize the good for themselves; so how will they handle this complex and perilous situation? If one of them seeks to heal it, his aim is nothing but to benefit from it in name or in fame. Thus, he can only cure it to a limited extent. That which God has made the greatest remedy and the most complete cause for its healing is the unity of all on earth under one order and one law. This can never happen unless there is a skillful, complete, and divine Physician. By my life, this is the truth, and what follows it is clear error. Every time that great Cause has come and that Light has shone from the eternal horizon, the unskilled physicians have opposed it and become clouds between it and the world. Thus, the world's sickness has not healed and has remained in its affliction until now. They could not preserve and heal it, and He who was the manifestation of power among creatures was prevented from what He desired by what the hands of the physicians had earned.
Consider, in these days when the Beauty of the Eternal and the Greatest Name has come for the life of the world and their union, they have risen against Him with sharpened swords and committed what has terrified the faithful soul, until they made Him a prisoner in the most desolate of lands, a place cut off from the reach of those who turn towards Him. If it is said to them that the Reformer of the world has come, they say, "It has been proven that He is one of the corrupt," even though they have not associated with Him, and they see that He has not protected Himself in less than a moment, whereas He was always in the hands of the oppressors. Once they imprisoned Him, another time they released Him, and at times they moved Him around the lands. Thus, they ruled over us, and God knows what I am saying. Those are the most ignorant of creation in the eyes of Truth, cutting off their own limbs and not realizing it, preventing good from themselves and not knowing it. They are like children who do not know the corrupt from the reformer, and evil from good. Today we see them in a manifest veil. (edit) |
48 | يا معشر الامرآء لمّا صرتم سحاباً لوجه الشّمس و منعتموها عن الاشراق ان استمعوا ما ينصحکم به القلم الاعلی لعلّ تستريح به انفسکم ثم الفقرآء و المساکين. نسئل اللّه بان يؤيّد الملوک علی الصّلح انّه لهو القادر علی ما يريد. (edit)

O ye rulers of the earth! Wherefore have ye clouded the radiance of the Sun, and caused it to cease from shining? Hearken unto the counsel given you by the Pen of the Most High, that haply both ye and the poor may attain unto tranquillity and peace. We beseech God to assist the kings of the earth to establish peace on earth. He, verily, doth what He willeth. (edit) |
O assembly of rulers! Since you have become clouds over the face of the sun and have prevented it from shining, listen to what the Supreme Pen advises you, so that you may find comfort in it, and then the poor and the needy. We ask God to support the kings in bringing about reform, for He is indeed capable of what He wills. (edit) |
49 | يا معشر الملوک انّا نراکم فى کلّ سنة تزدادون مصارفکم و تحملوها علی الرّعيّة ان هذا الّا ظلم عظيم اتّقوا زفرات المظلوم و عبراته و لا تحملوا علی الرّعيّة فوق طاقتهم و لا تخربوهم لتعمير قصورکم ان اختاروا لهم ما تختارونه لانفسکم کذلک نبيّن لکم ما ينفعکم ان انتم من المتفرسين. انّهم خزائنکم ايّاکم ان تحکموا عليهم ما لا حکم به اللّه و ايّاکم ان تسلّموها بايدى السّارقين. بهم تحکمون و تاکلون و تغلبون و عليهم تستکبرون ان هذا الّا امر عجيب. لمّا نبذتم الصّلح الاکبر عن ورائکم تمسّکوا بهذا الصّلح الاصغر لعلّ به تصلح امورکم و الّذين فى ظلّکم علی قدر يا معشر الامرين. ان اصلحوا ذات بينکم اذاً لا تحتاجون بکثرة العساکر و مهمّاتهم الّا علی قدر تحفظون به ممالککم و بلدانکم. ايّاکم ان تدعوا ما نصحتم به من لدن عليم امين. ان اتّحدوا يا معشر الملوک به تسکن ارياح الاختلاف بينکم و تستريح الرّعيّة و من حولکم ان انتم من العارفين. ان قام احد منکم علی الاخر قوموا عليه ان هذا الّا عدل مبين. کذلک وصيّناکم فى اللّوح الّذى ارسلناه من قبل تلک مرّة اخرى ان اتّبعوا ما نزّل من لدن عزيز حکيم. ان يهرب احد الی ظلّکم ان احفظوا و لا تسلّموه کذلک يعظکم القلم الاعلی من لدن عليم خبير. ايّاکم ان تفعلوا ما فعل ملک الاسلام اذ اتيناه بامره حکم علينا وکلائه بالظّلم الّذى به ناحت الاشيآء و احترقت اکباد المقرّبين. تحرّکهم ارياح الهوى کيف تشآء ما وجدنا لهم من قرار الا انّهم من الهائمين. O kings of the earth! We see you increasing every year your expenditures, and laying the burden thereof on your subjects. This, verily, is wholly and grossly unjust. Fear the sighs and tears of this Wronged One, and lay not excessive burdens on your peoples. Do not rob them to rear palaces for yourselves; nay rather choose for them that which ye choose for yourselves. Thus We unfold to your eyes that which profiteth you, if ye but perceive. Your people are your treasures. Beware lest your rule violate the commandments of God, and ye deliver your wards to the hands of the robber. By them ye rule, by their means ye subsist, by their aid ye conquer. Yet, how disdainfully ye look upon them! How strange, how very strange! 180 Now that ye have refused the Most Great Peace, hold ye fast unto this, the Lesser Peace, that haply ye may in some degree better your own condition and that of your dependents. 181 O rulers of the earth! Be reconciled among yourselves, that ye may need no more armaments save in a measure to safeguard your territories and dominions. Beware lest ye disregard the counsel of the All-Knowing, the Faithful. 182 Be united, O kings of the earth, for thereby will the tempest of discord be stilled amongst you, and your peoples find rest, if ye be of them that comprehend. Should any one among you take up arms against another, rise ye all against him, for this is naught but manifest justice. Thus did We exhort you in the Tablet sent down aforetime,[@@] and We admonish you once again to follow that which hath been revealed by Him Who is the Almighty, the All-Wise. Should anyone seek refuge with you, extend unto him your protection and betray him not. Thus doth the Pen of the Most High counsel you, as bidden by Him Who is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. 183 Beware lest ye act as did the King of Islám[¤¤} when We came unto him at his bidding. His ministers pronounced judgement against Us with such injustice that all creation lamented and the hearts of those who are nigh unto God were consumed. The winds of self and passion move them as they will, and We found them all bereft of constancy. They are, indeed, of those that are far astray. (edit) |
O assembly of kings! We see you increasing your expenditures every year and imposing them on your subjects. Indeed, this is nothing but great injustice. Fear the sighs and tears of the oppressed, and do not burden your subjects beyond their capacity, nor ruin them to build your palaces. Choose for them what you would choose for yourselves. Thus do We clarify to you what will benefit you if you are among those who perceive.
Indeed, they are your treasuries. Beware of ruling over them with what God has not ordained, and beware of handing them over to thieves. By them you rule, eat, and triumph, yet you act arrogantly towards them. Truly, this is a strange matter. Since you have cast aside the greater peace, cling to this lesser peace so that it may reform your affairs and those under your shadow to the degree, O leaders. If you rectify the relations between yourselves, then you will not need a multitude of soldiers and their equipment except to the degree that you protect your kingdoms and lands. Beware of neglecting what you have been advised by the Knowledgeable and Trustworthy One. If you unite, O assembly of kings, the winds of discord will calm among you, and the subjects and those around you will find peace if you are among those who understand. If one of you rises against another, stand together against him, for indeed, this is nothing but manifest justice. Thus have We instructed you in the Tablet that We sent before this time. Follow what has been revealed from the Mighty, Wise One. If anyone seeks refuge under your shadow, protect him and do not hand him over. Thus does the Supreme Pen admonish you from the Knowledgeable, Expert One. Beware of doing what the King of Islam did when he judged against Us and Our followers with injustice that made things lament and burned the hearts of those who are near. The winds of passion have stirred them as they please; We have found no stability in them, for indeed, they are among those who wander astray. (edit) |
50 | ان يا قلم القدم ان امسک القلم دعهم ليخوضوا فى اوهامهم ثمّ اذکر الملکة لعلّ تتوجّه بالقلب الاطهر الی المنظر الاکبر و لا تمنع البصر عن النّظر الی شطر ربّها مالک القدر و تطّلع بما نزّل فى الالواح و الزّبر من لدن خالق البشر الّذى به اظلمت الشّمس و کسف القمر و ارتفع النّدآء بين السّموات و الارضين. ان اقبلی الی اللّه و قولی يا مالکى انا المملوک و انت مالک الملوک قد رفعت يد الرّجآء الی سمآء فضلک و مواهبک فانزل علّى من سحاب جودک ما يجعلنى منقطعة عن دونک و يقرّبنى اليک. اى ربّ اسئلک باسمک الّذى جعلته سلطان الاسمآء و مظهر نفسک لمن فى الارض و السّمآء بان تخرق الاحجاب الّتى حالت بينى و بين عرفان مطلع آياتک و مشرق وحيک انّک انت المقتدر العزيز الکريم. اى ربّ لا تحرمنى عن نفحات قميص رحمانيّتک فى ايّامک و اکتب لی ما کتبته لامائک اللّائى آمنّ بک و بآياتک و فزن بعرفانک و اقبلن بقلوبهنّ الی افق امرک انّک انت مولی العالمين و ارحم الرّاحمين ثمّ ايّدنى يا الهى علی ذکرک بين امائک و نصرة امرک فى ديارک ثمّ اقبل منّى ما فات عنّى عند طلوع انوار وجهک انّک انت علی کلّ شىء قدير و البهآء لک يا من بيدک ملکوت ملک السّموات و الارضين. Rein in Thy pen, O Pen of the Ancient of Days, and leave them to themselves, for they are immersed in their idle fancies. Make Thou mention of the Queen, that she may turn with a pure heart unto the scene of transcendent glory, may withhold not her eyes from gazing toward her Lord, the Supreme Ordainer, and may become acquainted with that which hath been revealed in the Books and Tablets by the Creator of all mankind, He through Whom the sun hath been darkened and the moon eclipsed, and through Whom the Call hath been raised betwixt earth and heaven. 185 Turn thou unto God and say: O my Sovereign Lord! I am but a vassal of Thine, and Thou art, in truth, the King of kings. I have lifted my suppliant hands unto the heaven of Thy grace and Thy bounties. Send down, then, upon me from the clouds of Thy generosity that which will rid me of all save Thee, and draw me nigh unto Thyself. I beseech Thee, O my Lord, by Thy name, which Thou hast made the king of names and the manifestation of Thyself to all who are in heaven and on earth, to rend asunder the veils that have intervened between me and my recognition of the Dawning-Place of Thy signs and the Dayspring of Thy Revelation. Thou art, verily, the Almighty, the All-Powerful, the All-Bounteous. Deprive me not, O my Lord, of the fragrances of the Robe of Thy mercy in Thy days, and write down for me that which Thou hast written down for Thy handmaidens who have believed in Thee and in Thy signs, and have recognized Thee, and set their hearts towards the horizon of Thy Cause. Thou art truly the Lord of the worlds and of those who show mercy the Most Merciful. Assist me, then, O my God, to remember Thee amongst Thy handmaidens, and to aid Thy Cause in Thy lands. Accept, then, that which hath escaped me when the light of Thy countenance shone forth. Thou, indeed, hast power over all things. Glory be to Thee, O Thou in Whose hand is the kingdom of the heavens and of the earth. (edit) |
O Pen of Eternity! Hold the pen and let them indulge in their fantasies. Then remember the Queen, that she may turn with the purest heart towards the grandest sight, and do not prevent the vision from looking upon the part of her Lord, the Owner of Destiny. Let her gaze upon what has been revealed in the Tablets and Scriptures from the Creator of humanity, by Whom the sun has darkened, the moon has eclipsed, and the call has risen between the heavens and the earths. Turn to God and say, "O my Sovereign, I am the owned, and You are the Owner of kings. I have raised my hand of hope to the sky of Your grace and gifts, so send down from the clouds of Your bounty what will cut me off from all but You and bring me near to You. O Lord! I ask You by Your Name, which You have made the authority of names and the manifestation of Yourself to those on earth and in the heavens, to pierce the veils that have stood between me and the recognition of the rising place of Your signs and the dawning-place of Your revelation. Verily, You are the Mighty, the Powerful, the Generous. O Lord! Do not deprive me of the breezes of Your garment of mercy in Your days, and write for me what You have written for Your handmaidens who have believed in You and Your signs, who have succeeded through Your knowledge, and turned with their hearts towards the horizon of Your command. Verily, You are the Lord of the worlds and the most merciful of the merciful. Then, strengthen me, O my God, in Your remembrance among Your handmaidens and in supporting Your cause in Your lands. Then accept from me what has passed me by when the lights of Your face rose. Verily, You are capable of all things, and glory be to You, O the One in Whose hand is the dominion of the kingdom of the heavens and the earths." (edit) |
51 | يا ملک الارض اسمع ندآء هذا المملوک انّى عبد امنت باللّه و آياته و فديت نفسى فى سبيله و يشهد بذلک ما انا فيه من البلايا الّتى ما حملها احد من العباد و کان ربّى العليم علی ما اقول شهيدا. ما دعوت النّاس الّا الی اللّه ربّک و ربّ العالمين و ورد علىّ فى حبّه ما لا رئت عين الابداع شبهها. يصدّقنى فى ذلک العباد الّذين ما منعتهم سبحات البشر عن التّوجه الی المنظر الاکبر و عن ورائهم من عنده علم کلّ شىء فى لوح حفيظ. کلّما امطرت سحاب القضآء سهام البلاء فى سبيل اللّه مالک الاسمآء اقبلت اليها و يشهد بذلک کلّ منصف خبير. کم من ليال فيها استراحت الوحوش فى کنائسها و الطّيور فى اوکارها و کان الغلام فى السّلاسل و الاغلال و لم يجد لنفسه ناصراً و لا معينا. ان اذکر فضل اللّه عليک اذ کنت فى السّجن مع انفس معدودات و اخرجک منه و نصرک بجنود الغيب و الشّهادة الی ان ارسلک السلطان الی العراق بعد الّذى کشفنا له بانّک ما کنت من المفسدين. انّ الّذين اتّبعوا الهوى و اعرضوا عن التّقوى اولئک فى ضلال مبين. و الّذين يفسدون فى الارض و يسفکون الدّمآء و ياکلون اموال النّاس بالباطل نحن برىءٌ منهم و نسئل اللّه بان لا يجمع بيننا و بينهم لا فى الدّنيا و لا فى الاخرة الّا بان يتوبوا اليه انّه هو ارحم الرّاحمين. انّ الّذى توجّه الی اللّه ينبغى له بان يکون ممتازا فى کلّ الاعمال عمّا سوئه و يتّبع ما امر به فى الکتاب کذلک قضى الامر فى کتاب مبين و الّذين نبذوا امر اللّه وراء ظهورهم و اتّبعوا اهوائهم اولئک فى خطأٍ عظيم. يا سلطان اقسمک بربّک الرّحمن بان تنظر الی العباد بلحظات اعين رأفتک و تحکم بينهم بالعدل ليحکم اللّه لک بالفضل انّ ربّک لهو الحاکم علی مايريد. ستفنى الدّنيا و ما فيها من العزّة و الذّلّة و يبقى الملک للّه الملک العلىّ العليم. قل انّه اوقد سراج البيان و يمدّه بدهن المعانى و التّبيان تعالی ربّک الرّحمن من ان يقوم مع امره خلق الاکوان انّه يظهر ما يشآء بسلطانه و يحفظه بقبيل من الملئکة المقرّبين. هو القاهر فوق خلقه و الغالب علی بريّته انّه لهو العليم الحکيم. يا سلطان انى کنت کاحد من العباد و راقداً علی المهاد مرّت علىّ نسائم السّبحان و علّمنى علم ما کان ليس هذا من عندى بل من لدن عزيز عليم و امرنى بالنّدآء بين الارض و السّمآء و بذلک ورد علىّ ما تذرّفت به عيون العارفين. ما قرئت ما عند النّاس من العلوم و ما دخلت المدارس فاسئل المدينة الّتى کنت فيها لتوقن بانّى لست من الکاذبين. هذا ورقة حرّکتها ارياح مشيّة ربّک العزيز الحميد. هل لها استقرار عند هبوب ارياح عاصفات لا و مالک الاسمآء و الصّفات بل تحرّکها کيف تريد. ليس للعدم وجود تلقآء القدم قد جا امره المبرم و انطقنى بذکره بين العالمين. انّى لم اکن الّا کالميّت تلقآء امره قلّبتنى يد ارادة ربّک الرّحمن الرّحيم. هل يقدر احد ان يتکلّم من تلقاء نفسه بما يعترض به عليه العباد من کلّ وضيع و شريف. لا فو الّذى علّم القلم اسرار القدم الّا من کان مويّدا من لدن مقتدر قدير. يخاطبنى القلم الاعلی و يقول لا تخف ان اقصص لحضرة السّلطان ما ورد عليک انّ قلبه بين اصبعى ربّک الرّحمن لعلّ يستشرق من افق قلبه شمس العدل و الاحسان کذلک کان الحکم من لدى الحکيم منزولا. قل يا سلطان فانظر بطرف العدل الی الغلام ثمّ احکم بالحقّ فيما ورد عليه انّ اللّه قد جعلک ظلّه بين العباد و آية قدرته لمن فى البلاد. ان احکم بيننا و بين الّذين ظلمونا من دون بيّنة و لا کتاب منير. انّ الّذين فى حولک يحبّونک لانفسهم و الغلام يحبّک لنفسک و ما اراد الّا ان يقرّبک الی مقرّ الفضل و يقلّبک الی يمين العدل و کان ربّک علی ما اقول شهيدا. O King of the Earth! Hearken unto the call of this Vassal: Verily, I am a Servant Who hath believed in God and in His signs, and have sacrificed Myself in His path. Unto this bear witness the woes which now beset Me, woes the like of which no man hath ever before sustained. My Lord, the All-Knowing, testifieth to the truth of My words. I have summoned the people unto none save God, thy Lord and the Lord of the worlds, and have endured for love of Him such afflictions as the eye of creation hath never beheld. To this testify those whom the veils of human fancy have not deterred from turning unto the Most Sublime Vision, and, beyond them, He with Whom is the knowledge of all things in the preserved Tablet. 187 Whensoever the clouds of tribulation have rained down the darts of affliction in the path of God, the Lord of all names, I have hastened to meet them, as every fair-minded and discerning soul shall attest. How many the nights which found the beasts of the field resting in their lairs, and the birds of the air lying in their nests, while this Youth languished in chains and fetters with none to aid or succour Him! 188 Call Thou to mind God's mercy unto Thee; how, when Thou wert imprisoned with a number of other souls, He delivered Thee and aided Thee with the hosts of the seen and the unseen, until the King sent Thee to `Iráq after We had disclosed unto him that Thou wert not of the sowers of sedition. Those who follow their corrupt desires and lay aside the fear of God are indeed in grievous error. They that spread disorder in the land, shed the blood of men, and wrongfully consume the substance of others -- We, verily, are clear of them, and We beseech God not to associate Us with them, whether in this world or in the world to come, unless they should repent unto Him. He, verily, is of those who show mercy the most merciful. 189 Whoso turneth towards God must distinguish himself from others by his every deed, and follow that which hath been enjoined upon him in the Book. Thus hath it been decreed in a lucid Tablet. Those, however, who cast behind their backs the commandments of God, and follow the prompting of their own desires, are, verily, in grievous error. 190 O King! I adjure thee by thy Lord, the All-Merciful, to look upon thy servants with the glances of the eye of thy favour, and to treat them with justice, that God may treat thee with mercy. Potent is thy Lord to do as He pleaseth. The world, with all its abasement and glory, shall pass away, and the kingdom will remain unto God, the Most Exalted, the All-Knowing. 191 Say: He hath kindled the lamp of utterance, and feedeth it with the oil of wisdom and understanding. Too high is thy Lord, the All-Merciful, for aught in the universe to resist His Faith. He revealeth what He pleaseth through the power of His sovereign might, and protecteth it with a host of His well-favoured angels. He is supreme over His servants and exerciseth undisputed dominion over His creation. He, verily, is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. 192 O King! I was but a man like others, asleep upon My couch, when lo, the breezes of the All-Glorious were wafted over Me, and taught Me the knowledge of all that hath been. This thing is not from Me, but from One Who is Almighty and All-Knowing. And He bade Me lift up My voice between earth and heaven, and for this there befell Me what hath caused the tears of every man of understanding to flow. The learning current amongst men I studied not; their schools I entered not. Ask of the city wherein I dwelt, that thou mayest be well assured that I am not of them who speak falsely. This is but a leaf which the winds of the will of thy Lord, the Almighty, the All-Praised, have stirred. Can it be still when the tempestuous winds are blowing? Nay, by Him Who is the Lord of all Names and Attributes! They move it as they list. The evanescent is as nothing before Him Who is the Ever-Abiding. His all-compelling summons hath reached Me, and caused Me to speak His praise amidst all people. I was indeed as one dead when His behest was uttered. The hand of the will of thy Lord, the Compassionate, the Merciful, transformed Me. Can anyone speak forth of his own accord that for which all men, both high and low, will protest against him? Nay, by Him Who taught the Pen the eternal mysteries, save him whom the grace of the Almighty, the All-Powerful, hath strengthened. 193 The Pen of the Most High addresseth Me, saying: Fear not. Relate unto His Majesty the Sháh that which befell thee. His heart, verily, is between the fingers of thy Lord, the God of Mercy, that haply the sun of justice and bounty may shine forth above the horizon of his heart. Thus hath the decree been irrevocably fixed by Him Who is the All-Wise. 194 Look upon this Youth, O King, with the eyes of justice; judge thou, then, with truth concerning what hath befallen Him. Of a verity, God hath made thee His shadow amongst men, and the sign of His power unto all that dwell on earth. Judge thou between Us and them that have wronged Us without proof and without an enlightening Book. They that surround thee love thee for their own sakes, whereas this Youth loveth thee for thine own sake, and hath had no desire except to draw thee nigh unto the seat of grace, and to turn thee toward the right hand of justice. Thy Lord beareth witness unto that which I declare. (edit) |
O King of the Earth! Hearken to the cry of this servant. I am a slave who has believed in God and His signs and sacrificed myself in His way. And my witness to that is what I endure of the tribulations which none of the servants have borne, and my Lord, the All-Knowing, is a witness to what I say. I have called people only to God, your Lord and the Lord of the worlds, and in His love, He has returned to me what the eye of creation has never seen a likeness of. The servants who are not hindered by the human limitations from turning towards the greater spectacle, and from beyond them, the knowledge of everything in a guarded tablet, bear witness to that.
Whenever the clouds of destiny rained down arrows of tribulation in the way of God, the Master of Names, I have embraced them, and every fair and expert person bears witness to this. How many nights when the beasts have rested in their dens, and the birds in their nests, but the youth was in chains and fetters, and found no helper or supporter for himself. If I mention God's favor upon you when you were in prison with a few souls, and He brought you out of it, and helped you with armies of the unseen and witnessed, until He sent you as the ruler to Iraq after what We revealed to you that you were not of the corrupt. Indeed, those who followed desire and turned away from piety are in manifest error. And those who spread corruption on the earth and shed blood and consume people's wealth unjustly, we are free from them, and we ask God that He does not gather us with them, neither in this world nor in the Hereafter unless they repent to Him. He is indeed the most Merciful of the merciful. The one who turns to God should be distinguished in all his deeds from others and follow what is commanded in the Book. Thus, the matter is decreed in a clear book, and those who have thrown away God's command behind them and followed their desires are in great error. O Sultan! I adjure you by your Lord, the Most Merciful, to look at the servants with glances of your compassion's eyes and judge between them with justice so that God may reward you with grace. Indeed, your Lord is the One who judges as He wills. The world and everything in it of glory and humiliation will vanish, and the dominion will remain for God, the Supreme, the All-Knowing. Say that He has lit the lamp of explanation and extends it with the oil of meanings and clarification. Exalted is your Lord, the Most Merciful, from standing with His command of creation. He manifests whatever He wills with His authority and preserves it with a battalion of the angels drawn near. He is the Dominator over His creation and the Victor over His creatures. He is indeed the All-Knowing, the Wise. O Sultan! I was like one of the servants and asleep on the bed when the breezes of the Glorious passed by me and taught me knowledge that I did not have. This is not from me, but from the presence of the Mighty, the All-Knowing, and He commanded me to call between the earth and the sky. With that, He returned to me what had shed the eyes of the knowing. I did not read what people have of sciences, nor did I enter schools, so ask the city in which I was to be certain that I am not of the liars. This is a paper stirred by the winds of the will of your Lord, the Mighty, the Praised. Is there stability for it when the winds of storms blow? No, by the Master of the Names and Attributes, but it is moved as He wills. The nonexistence has no existence over eternity. His determined command has come and made me speak His remembrance among the worlds. I was but like the dead in the face of His command; the hand of your Lord's will, the Most Merciful, the Compassionate, turned me over. Can anyone speak on his own with what he opposes the servants with, of all low and noble? No, by He who taught the pen the secrets of eternity, except one who is supported from the presence of a Capable, Powerful One. The Supreme Pen addresses me and says, "Fear not to tell the presence of the Sultan what has been revealed to you. Indeed, his heart is between the fingers of your Lord, the Most Merciful. Perhaps the sun of justice and benevolence will rise from the horizon of his heart." Thus, the command from the presence of the Wise was revealed. Say, O Sultan! Look with the edge of justice at the youth, then judge with the truth in what has been revealed to him. God has made you His shadow among the servants and a sign of His power for those in the lands. Judge between us and those who have wronged us without evidence or a luminous book. Indeed, those around you love you for themselves, and the youth loves you for yourself and only wishes to bring you closer to the abode of grace and turn you to the right of justice, and your Lord is a witness to what I say. 52 | ان يا سلطان لو تسمع صرير القلم الاعلی و هدير ورقآء البقاء علی افنان سدرة المنتهى فى ذکر اللّه موجد الاسمآء و خالق الارض و السّماء ليبلّغک الی مقام لا ترى فى الوجود الّا تجلّى حضرة المعبود و ترى الملک احقر شىء عندک تضعه لمن اراد و تتوجّه الی افق کان بانوار الوجه مضيئا و لا تحمل ثقل الملک ابداً الّا لنصرة ربّک العلىّ الاعلی اذاً يصلّين عليک الملأ الاعلی حبّذا لهذا المقام الاسنى لو ترتقى اليه بسلطان کان باسم اللّه معروفا و من النّاس من قال انّ الغلام ما اراد الّا ابقاء اسمه و منهم من قال انّه اراد الدّنيا لنفسه بعد الّذى ما وجدت فى ايّامى مقرّ الامن علی قدر اضع رجلی عليه. کنت فى کلّ الأحيان فى غمرات البلايا الّتى ما اطّلع بها احد الّا اللّه انّه قد کان علی ما اقول عليما. کم من ايّام اضطربت فيها احبّتى لضرّى و کم من ليال ارتفع فيها نحيب البکآء من اهلی خوفا لنفسى و لا ينکر ذلک الّا من کان عن الصّدق محروما و الّذى لا يرى لنفسه الحيوة فى اقلّ من آنٍ هل يريد الدّنيا فيا عجبا من الّذين يتکلّمون باهوائهم و هاموا فى برّيّة النّفس و الهوى سوف يسئلون عمّا قالوا يومئذ لا يجدون لأنفسهم حميماً و لا نصيراً و منهم من قال انّه کفر باللّه بعد الّذى يشهد کلّ جوارحى بانّه لا اله الّا هو و الّذين بعثهم بالحق و ارسلهم بالهدى اولئک مظاهر اسمائه الحسنى و مطالع صفاته العليا و مهابط وحيه فى ملکوت الانشآء و بهم تمّت حجّة اللّه علی ما سويه و نصبت راية التّوحيد و ظهرت آية التّجريد و بهم اتّخذ کلّ نفس الی ذى العرش سبيلاً. نشهد ان لا اله الّا هو لم يزل کان و لم يکن معه من شىء و لا يزال يکون بمثل ما قد کان تعالی الرّحمن من ان يرتقى الی ادراک کنهه افئدة اهل العرفان او يصعد الی معرفة ذاته ادراک من فى الاکوان هو المقدّس عن عرفان دونه و المنزّه عن ادراک ما سويه انّه کان فى ازل الازال عن العالمين غنيّاً و اذکر الايّام الّتى فيها اشرقت شمس البطحآء عن افق مشيّة ربّک العلىّ الاعلی اعرض عنه العلمآء و اعترض عليه الادبآء لتطّلع بما کان اليوم فى حجاب النّور مستوراً و اشتدّت عليه الامور من کلّ الجهات الی ان تفرّق من فى حوله بامره کذلک کان الامر من سمآء العزّ منزولاً. ثمّ اذکر اذ دخل احد منهم علی النّجاشى و تلا عليه سورة من القران قال لمن حوله انّها نزّلت من لدن عليم حکيم. من صدّق بالحسنى و امن بما اتى به عيسى لا يسعه الاعراض عمّا قرء انّا نشهد له کما نشهد لما عندنا من کتب اللّه المهيمن القيّوم. تاللّه يا ملک لو تسمع نغمات الورقاء الّتى تغنّ علی الافنان بفنون الالحان بامر ربّک الرّحمن لتدع الملک عن ورائک و تتوجّه الی المنظر الاکبر المقام الّذى کان کتاب الفجر عن افقه مشهودا و تنفق ما عندک ابتغاء لما عند اللّه اذاً تجد نفسک فى علوّ العزّة و الاستعلاء و سموّ العظمة و الاستغناء کذلک کان الامر فى امّ البيان من قلم الرّحمن مسطوراً. لا خير فيما ملکته اليوم فسوف يملکه غدا غيرک ان اختر لنفسک ما اختاره اللّه لاصفيائه انّه يعطيک فى ملکوته ملکا کبيرا. نسئل اللّه بان يؤيّد حضرتک علی اصغاء الکلمة الّتى منها استضاء العالم و يحفظک عن الّذين کانوا عن شطر القرب بعيداً. سبحانک اللّهم يا الهى کم من رؤس نصبت علی القناة فى سبيلک و کم من صدور استقبلت السّهام فى رضائک و کم من قلوب تشبّکت لارتفاع کلمتک و انتشار امرک و کم من عيون تذرّفت فى حبّک اسئلک يا مالک الملوک و راحم المملوک باسمک الاعظم الّذى جعلته مطلع اسمائک الحسنى و مظهر صفاتک العليا بان ترفع السّبحات الّتى حالت بينک و بين خلقک و منعتهم عن التوجّه الی افق وحيک ثمّ اجتذبهم يا الهى بکلمتک العليا عن شمال الوهم و النّسيان الی يمين اليقين و العرفان ليعرفوا ما اردت لهم بجودک و فضلک و يتوجّهوا الی مظهر امرک و مطلع اياتک. يا الهى انت الکريم ذو الفضل العظيم لا تمنع عبادک عن البحر الاعظم الّذى جعلته حاملاً للئالی علمک و حکمتک و لا تطردهم عن بابک الّذى فتحته علی من فى سمائک و ارضک. اى ربّ لا تدعهم بانفسهم لانّهم لا يعرفون و يهربون عمّا هو خير لهم ممّا خلق فى ارضک فانظر اليهم يا الهى بلحظات اعين الطافک و مواهبک و خلّصهم عن النّفس و الهوى ليتقرّبوا الی افقک الأعلی و يجدوا حلاوة ذکرک و لذّة المائدة الّتى نزّلت من سماء مشيّتک و هواء فضلک لم يزل احاط کرمک الممکنات و سبقت رحمتک الکائنات لا اله الّا انت الغفور الرّحيم. سبحانک يا الهى انت تعلم بانّ قلبى ذاب فى امرک و يغلی دمى فى کلّ عرقى من نار حبّک و کلّ قطرة منه يناديک بلسان الحال يا ربّى المتعال فاسفکنى علی الارض فى سبيلک لينبت منها ما اردته فى الواحک و سترته عن انظر عبادک الّا الّذين شربوا کوثر العلم من ايادى فضلک و سلسبيل العرفان من کأس عطائک و انت تعلم يا الهى بانّى ما اردت فى امرٍ الّا امرک و ما قصدت فى ذکرٍ الّا ذکرک و ما تحرّک قلمى الّا و قد اردت به رضائک و اظهار ما امرتنى به بسلطانک ترانى يا الهى متحيّرا فى ارضک ان اذکر ما امرتنى به يعترض علىّ خلقک و ان اترک ما امرت به من عندک اکون مستحقاً لسياط قهرک و بعيداً عن رياض قربک لا فو عزّتک اقبلت الی رضائک و اعرضت عمّا تهوى به انفس عبادک و قبلت ما عندک و ترکت ما يبعّدنى عن مکامن قربک و معارج عزّک فو عزّتک بحبّک لا اجزع عن شىء و فى رضائک لا افزع من بلايا الارض کلّها ليس هذا الّا بحولک و قوّتک و فضلک و عنايتک من غير استحقاقى بذلک فيا الهى هذا کتاب اريد ان ارسله الی السّلطان و انت تعلم بانّى ما اردت منه الّا ظهور عدله لخلقک و بروز الطافه لاهل مملکتک و انّى لنفسى ما اردت الّا ما اردته و لا اريد بحولک الّا ما تريد. عدمت کينونة تريد منک دونک فو عزّتک رضائک منتهى املی و مشيّتک غاية رجائى فارحم يا الهى هذا الفقير الّذى تشبّث بذيل غنائک و هذا الذّليل الّذى يدعوک بانّک انت العزيز العظيم. ايّد يا الهى حضرة السّلطان علی اجرآء حدودک بين عبادک و اظهار عدلک بين خلقک ليحکم علی هذه الفئة کما يحکم علی ما دونهم انّک انت المقتدر العزيز الحکيم. O King! Wert thou to incline thine ear unto the shrill of the Pen of Glory and the cooing of the Dove of Eternity which, on the branches of the Lote-Tree beyond which there is no passing, uttereth praises to God, the Maker of all names and Creator of earth and heaven, thou wouldst attain unto a station from which thou wouldst behold in the world of being naught save the effulgence of the Adored One, and wouldst regard thy sovereignty as the most contemptible of thy possessions, abandoning it to whosoever might desire it, and setting thy face toward the Horizon aglow with the light of His countenance. Neither wouldst thou ever be willing to bear the burden of dominion save for the purpose of helping thy Lord, the Exalted, the Most High. Then would the Concourse on high bless thee. O how excellent is this most sublime station, couldst thou ascend thereunto through the power of a sovereignty recognized as derived from the Name of God! 196 Amongst the people are those who allege that this Youth hath had no purpose but to perpetuate His name, whilst others claim that He hath sought for Himself the vanities of the world -- this, notwithstanding that never, throughout all My days, have I found a place of safety, be it to the extent of a single foothold. At all times have I been immersed in an ocean of tribulations, whose full measure none can fathom but God. He, truly, is aware of what I say. How many the days in which My loved ones have been sorely shaken by reason of My afflictions, and how many the nights during which My kindred, fearing for My life, have bitterly wept and lamented! And this none can deny save them that are bereft of truthfulness. Is it conceivable that He Who expecteth to lose His life at any moment should seek after worldly vanities? How very strange the imaginings of those who speak as prompted by their own caprices, and who wander distractedly in the wilderness of self and passion! Erelong shall they be called upon to account for their words, and on that day they shall find none to befriend or help them. 197 And amongst the people are those who claim that He hath disbelieved in God -- yet every member of My body testifieth that there is none other God but Him; that those Whom He hath raised up in truth and sent forth with His guidance are the Manifestations of His most excellent names, the Revealers of His most exalted attributes, and the Repositories of His Revelation in the kingdom of creation; that through them the Proof of God hath been perfected unto all else but Him, the standard of Divine Unity hath been raised, and the sign of sanctity hath been made manifest; and that through them every soul hath found a path unto the Lord of the Throne on high. We testify that there is none other God but Him, that from everlasting He was alone with none else besides Him, and that He shall be unto everlasting what He hath ever been. Too high is the All-Merciful for the hearts of those who have recognized Him to apprehend His true nature, or for the minds of men to hope to fathom His essence. He verily is exalted above the understanding of anyone besides Himself, and sanctified beyond the comprehension of all else save Him. From all eternity He hath been independent of the entire creation. 198 Remember the days in which the Sun of Bathá{Bahamut19 (talk)} shone forth above the horizon of the Will of thy Lord, the Exalted, the Most High, and recall how the divines of that age turned away from Him, and the learned contended with Him, that haply thou mayest apprehend that which, in this day, remaineth concealed behind the veils of glory. So grievous became His plight on every side that He instructed His companions to disperse. Thus was the decree made manifest from the heaven of divine glory. Remember, furthermore, how, when one of these same companions came before the King of Ethiopia and recited unto him a Súrih of the Qur'án, he declared to his attendants: ``This, truly, hath been revealed by One Who is All-Knowing and All-Wise. Whoso acknowledgeth the truth, and believeth in the teachings of Jesus, can in no wise deny what hath been recited. We, verily, bear witness to its truth, even as we bear witness to the truth of that which we possess of the Books of God, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting. 199 I swear by God, O King! Wert thou to incline thine ear to the melodies of that Nightingale which warbleth in manifold accents upon the mystic bough as bidden by thy Lord, the All-Merciful, thou wouldst cast away thy sovereignty and set thy face towards this Scene of transcendent glory, above whose horizon shineth the Book of the Dawntide,16 and wouldst expend all that thou possessest in thine eagerness to obtain the things of God. Then wouldst thou find thyself raised up to the summit of exaltation and glory, and elevated to the pinnacle of majesty and independence. Thus hath the decree been recorded in the Mother Book by the Pen of the All-Merciful. Of what avail are the things which are yours today and which tomorrow others shall possess? Choose for thyself that which God hath chosen for His elect, and God shall grant thee a mighty sovereignty in His Kingdom. We beseech God to aid thy Majesty to hearken unto that Word whose radiance hath enveloped the whole world, and to protect thee from such as have strayed far from the court of His presence. 200 Glory be to Thee, O Lord My God! How many the heads which were raised aloft on spears in Thy path, and how many the breasts which were made the target of arrows for the sake of Thy good pleasure! How many the hearts that have been lacerated for the exaltation of Thy Word and the promotion of Thy Cause, and how many the eyes that have wept sore for love of Thee! I implore Thee, O Thou Who art the King of kings and the Pitier of the downtrodden, by Thy Most Great Name which Thou hats made the Dawning-Place of Thy most excellent names and the Dayspring of Thy most exalted attributes, to remove the veils that have come in between Thee and Thy creatures and debarred them from turning unto the horizon of Thy Revelation. Cause them, then, O My God, by Thy most exalted Word, to turn from the left hand of oblivion and delusion unto the right hand of knowledge and certitude, that they may know what Thou hast purposed for them through Thy bounty and grace, and may set their faces towards Him Who is the Manifestation of Thy Cause and the Revealer of Thy signs. 201 O My God! Thou art the All-Bountiful, Whose grace is infinite. Withhold not Thy servants from the most mighty Ocean, which Thou hast made the repository of the pearls of Thy knowledge and Thy wisdom, and turn them not away from Thy gate, which Thou hast opened wide before all who are in Thy heaven and all who are on Thy earth. O Lord! Leave them not to themselves, for they understand not and flee from that which is better for them than all that Thou hast created upon Thine earth. Cast upon them, O My God, the glances of the eye of Thy favour and bounty, and deliver them from self and passion, that they may draw nigh unto Thy most exalted Horizon, taste the sweetness of Thy remembrance, and delight in that bread which Thou hast sent down from the heaven of Thy Will and the firmament of Thy grace. From everlasting Thy bounty hath embraced the entire creation and Thy mercy hath surpassed all things. No God is there but Thee, the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Compassionate. 202 Glorified art Thou, O Lord My God! Thou well knowest that Mine heart hath melted in Thy Cause, and that My blood so boileth in My veins with the fire of Thy love that every drop of it proclaimeth with its inner tongue: ``Grant that I may be spilt upon the ground for Thy sake, O my Lord, the Most High, that from it there may spring forth that which Thou hast purposed in Thy Tablets and hast hidden from the eyes of all, except such servants as have tasted of the crystal stream of knowledge from the hands of Thy grace and quaffed the soft-flowing waters of understanding from the cup of Thy bestowal. 203 Thou knowest, O My God, that in all Mine affairs I have sought only to obey Thy bidding, that in Mine every utterance I have wished only to extol Thy praise, and that in whatsoever hath proceeded from My Pen I have purposed only to win Thy good pleasure and to reveal that which Thou hast enjoined upon Me through Thy sovereignty. 204 Thou beholdest Me, O My God, as one bewildered in Thy land. Whensoever I make mention of that which Thou hast enjoined upon Me, Thy creatures cavil at Me; yet were I to neglect that which Thou hast bidden Me observe, I would deserve the scourge of Thine anger and would be far removed from the meadows of Thy nearness. O Sultan! If you could hear the screeching of the Supreme Pen and the roar of the pages of eternity on the branches of the Tree of the End, in the remembrance of God, the Originator of names and the Creator of the earth and the heavens, it would bring you to a station where you see nothing in existence but the appearance of the Presence of the Adored One. You would see sovereignty as the most trivial thing in your eyes, and you would bestow it upon whomever you wish. You would turn to the horizon that is illuminated by the lights of the Face, and you would never bear the burden of sovereignty except to aid your exalted Lord. Then the High Assembly would bless you, how excellent this exalted station is if you were to ascend to it with a sovereignty that is known by the name of God!
Among people are those who said the Youth wanted nothing but the preservation of his name, and some of them said he wanted the world for himself after what I have not found in my days a place of safety to the extent that I could put my foot on it. I was always in the depths of calamities that no one knew but God; He was indeed knowledgeable about what I say. How many days my loved ones were disturbed by my harm, and how many nights the wailing of tears rose from my family fearing for me! None denies this except those deprived of truth. And he who does not see life for himself in less than that, does he want the world? How strange from those who speak by their whims and have wandered in the wilderness of the self and desire; they will be questioned about what they said, on that day they will find neither a friend nor a supporter for themselves. And among them are those who said that he disbelieved in God after all my limbs bear witness that there is no god but He, and those whom He sent with truth and sent them with guidance, these are the manifestations of His beautiful names and the dawning places of His exalted attributes and the descent of His revelation in the kingdom of creation. Through them, the proof of God was perfected over all else, and the banner of monotheism was erected, and the sign of abstraction appeared, and through them, every soul has taken a path to the Lord of the Throne. We bear witness that there is no god but He. He has always been, and there was nothing with Him, and He will continue to be as He has always been. The Merciful is exalted beyond the grasp of the hearts of the people of knowledge or the comprehension of His essence by those in the worlds. He is sanctified from knowing anything other than Him, and He is far above the understanding of anything besides Him. He was independent of the worlds in the eternity of eternities. Remember the days in which the sun of truth shone forth from the horizon of the will of your exalted Lord. The scholars turned away from it, and the learned opposed it, to look for what is today veiled in the veil of light and things intensified upon it from all sides until those around Him scattered by His command. Such was the command that descended from the heaven of might. Then remember when one of them entered upon the Negus and recited to him a chapter from the Quran, he said to those around him that it was revealed from the presence of the Knowing, the Wise. Whoever believes in the Most Beautiful and trusts in what Jesus brought cannot help but turn towards what was recited. We bear witness for him just as we bear witness to what we have from the Books of God, the Dominant, the Self-Subsisting. By God, O King! If you could hear the melodies of the songs that sing on the branches in the arts of tunes by the command of your merciful Lord, you would leave the sovereignty behind you and turn to the greater view, the station where the Book of the Dawn was witnessed on its horizon, and you would spend what you have in seeking what is with God. Then you will find yourself in the height of dignity and supremacy and the loftiness of greatness and independence. Thus was the matter written in the Mother of the Book by the Pen of the Merciful. There is no good in what you possess today, for tomorrow someone else will possess it. If you choose for yourself what God has chosen for His chosen ones, He will give you in His kingdom great sovereignty. We ask God to support you in listening to the word from which the world is enlightened and to protect you from those who were far from the shore of nearness. Glorified are You, O God, my God, how many heads were raised on the spear in Your path, how many chests faced the arrows in Your satisfaction, how many hearts intertwined for the elevation of Your word and the spread of Your command, and how many eyes shed tears in Your love. I ask You, O Master of Kings and Merciful to the subjects, by Your greatest name, which You made the rising of Your beautiful names and the manifestation of Your high attributes, to raise the barriers that stood between You and Your creation and prevented them from turning to the horizon of Your revelation. Then draw them, O my God, with Your supreme word, from the left of illusion and forgetfulness to the right of certainty and knowledge, so that they may know what You have intended for them with Your generosity and favor, and turn to the manifestation of Your command and the rising of Your signs. O my God, You are the Generous, Possessor of great favor, do not deprive Your servants of the greatest sea, which You have made a carrier for the pearls of Your knowledge and wisdom, and do not banish them from Your door, which You have opened for those in Your heaven and earth. Oh Lord, do not leave them to themselves, for they do not know and flee from what is better for them than what was created in Your earth. Look at them, O my God, with the glances of Your kindness and gifts, and free them from the self and desire to draw near to Your highest horizon and to find the sweetness of Your remembrance and the pleasure of the banquet that You have sent down from the heaven of Your will and the breeze of Your favor. Your generosity has always surrounded the possible things, and Your mercy preceded the beings. There is no god but You, the Forgiving, the Merciful. Glorified are You, O my God, You know that my heart has melted in Your command, and my blood boils in every vein from the fire of Your love, and every drop of it calls You with the language of the state, "O my Lord, the Exalted, spill me on the ground in Your path, so that from it may grow what You have wanted in Your tablets and concealed from the sight of Your servants, except those who drank from the Kawthar of knowledge from the hands of Your favor and the Salsabil of knowledge from the cup of Your gift, and You know, O my God, that I have not intended anything in my command except Your command, and I have not aimed at any mention except Your mention, and my pen did not move except that I intended with it Your satisfaction and to reveal what You have commanded me with by Your authority. You see me, O my God, bewildered in Your land; if I mention what You have commanded me with, Your creation objects to me, and if I leave what You have commanded me with, I deserve the whips of Your wrath and am far from the gardens of Your nearness." 53 | حسب الاذن و اجازه سلطان زمان اين عبد از مقرّ سرير سلطانى بعراق عرب توجّه نمود و دوازده سنه در آن ارض ساکن و در مدّت توقّف شرح احوال در پيشگاه سلطانى معروض نشد و همچنين بدول خارجه اظهارى نرفت متوکلا علی اللّه در آن ارض ساکن تا آنکه يکى از مامورين وارد عراق شد و بعد از ورود در صدد اذيّت جمعى فقراء افتاد هر روز باغواى بعضى از علماى ظاهره و غيره متعرّض اين عباد بوده مع آنکه ابدا خلاف دولت و ملّت و مغاير اصول و آداب اهل مملکت از اين عباد ظاهر نشده و اين عبد بملاحظه آنکه مبادا از افعال معتدين امرى منافى راى جهان آراى سلطانى احداث شود لذا اجمالی بباب وزارت خارجه ميرزا سعيد خان اظهار رفت تا در پيشگاه حضور معروض دارد و بآنچه حکم سلطان صدور يابد معمول گردد مدّتها گذشت و حکمى صدور نيافت تا آنکه امر بمقامى رسيد که بيم آن بود بغتتهً فسادى برپا شود و خون جمعى ريخته گردد لابّداً حفظاً لعباد اللّه معدودى بوالی عراق توجّه نمودند اگر بنظر عدل در آنچه واقع شده ملاحظه فرمايند بر مرات قلب منير روشن خواهد شد که آنچه واقع شده نظر بمصلحت بوده و چاره جز آن بر حسب ظاهر نه. ذات شاهانه شاهد و گواهند که در هر بلد که معدودى از اين طائفه بوده اند نظر بتعدّى بعضى از حکّام نار حرب و جدال مشتعل ميشد و لکن اين فانى بعد از ورود عراق کلّ را از فساد و نزاع منع نموده و گواه اين عبد عمل او است چه که کلّ مطّلعند و شهادت ميدهند که جمعيّت اين حزب در عراق اکثر از جميع بلدان بوده مع ذلک احدى از حدّ خود تجاوز ننموده و بنفسى متعرّض نشده قريب پانزده سنه ميشود که کلّ ناظرا الی اللّه و متوکّلا عليه ساکنند و آنچه بر ايشان وارد شد صبر نموده اند و بحقّ گذاشته اند و بعد از ورود اين عبد باين بلد که موسوم بادرنه است بعضى از اهل عراق و غيره از معنى نصرت که در کتاب الهى نازل شده سؤال نموده اند اجوبه شتّى در جواب ارسال يکى از آن اجوبه در اين ورقه عرض ميشود تا در پيشگاه حضور واضح گردد که اين عبد جز صلاح و اصلاح بامرى ناظر نبوده و اگر بعضى از الطاف الهيّه که من غير استحقاق عنايت فرموده واضح و مکشوف نباشد اين قدر معلوم ميشود که بعنايت واسعه و رحمت سابقه قلب را از طراز عقل محروم نفرموده صورت کلماتيکه در معنى نصرت عرض شد اين است: (edit)

By the leave and permission of the King of the Age, this Servant journeyed from the Seat of Sovereignty{+++} to `Iráq, and dwelt for twelve years in that land. Throughout the entire course of this period no account of Our condition was submitted to the court of thy presence, and no representation ever made to foreign powers. Placing Our whole trust in God, We resided in that land until there came to `Iráq a certain official17 who, upon his arrival, undertook to harass this poor company of exiles. Day after day, at the instigation of some of the outwardly learned and of other individuals, he would stir up trouble for these servants, although they had at no time committed any act detrimental to the state and its people or contrary to the rules and customs of the citizens of the realm. 207 Fearing lest the actions of these transgressors should produce some outcome at variance with thy world-adorning judgement, this Servant despatched a brief account of the matter to Mírzá Sa`íd Khán18 at the Foreign Ministry, so that he might submit it to the royal presence and that whatever thou shouldst please to decree in this respect might be obeyed. A long while elapsed, and no decree was issued. Finally matters came to such a pass that there loomed the threat of imminent strife and bloodshed. Of necessity, therefore, and for the protection of the servants of God, a few of them appealed to the Governor of `Iráq.19 208 Wert thou to observe these events with the eye of fairness, it would become clear and evident in the luminous mirror of thine heart that what occurred was called for by the circumstances, and that no other alternative could be seen. His Majesty himself is witness that in whatever city a number of this people have resided, the hostility of certain functionaries hath enkindled the flame of conflict and contention. This evanescent Soul, however, hath, since His arrival in `Iráq, forbidden all to engage in dissension and strife. The witness of this Servant is His very deeds, for all are well aware and will testify that, although a greater number of this people resided in `Iráq than in any other land, no one overstepped his limits or transgressed against his neighbour. Fixing their gaze upon God, and reposing their trust in Him, all have now been abiding in peace for well-nigh fifteen years, and, in whatever hath befallen them, they have shown forth patience and resigned themselves to God. 209 After the arrival of this Servant in this, the city of Adrianople, some of the people of `Iráq and elsewhere inquired about the meaning of the term ``rendering assistance unto God which hath been mentioned in the Holy Scriptures. Several answers were sent out in reply, one of which is set forth in these pages, that it may be clearly demonstrated in the court of thy presence that this Servant hath had no end in view but to promote the betterment and well-being of the world. And if certain of the divine favours which, undeserving as I may be, God hath pleased to bestow upon Me be not plain and manifest, this much at least will be clear and apparent, that He, in His surpassing mercy and infinite grace, hath not deprived Mine heart of the ornament of reason. By the permission and grace of the Sultan of the Age, this servant turned his attention from the royal seat in Iraq-Arab and resided there for twelve years. During the stay, the situation was not presented to the royal court, nor was it expressed to foreign countries, trusting in God in that land, until one of the officials entered Iraq and began to torment a group of the poor after his arrival. Every day he would assault these servants in the company of some of the outward scholars, and so on, even though nothing contrary to the government, nation, or against the principles and manners of the people of the country ever appeared from these servants. This servant, considering that something contrary to the wisdom of the world-wise Sultan might be done by the transgressors, briefly referred the matter to the foreign minister Mirza Saeed Khan, to be presented in His presence, and to be carried out whatever command the Sultan would issue. A long time passed, and no command was issued until the matter reached a point where there was fear that suddenly corruption would arise, and the blood of many would be shed. A few officials in Iraq turned their attention; if they consider with justice what has happened, it will become clear to their enlightened hearts that what has happened was in the interest and there was no alternative to it apparently. The royal essence is witness and testifier that in every country where a few of this sect were present, the sight of some of the rulers would ignite the fire of war and strife, but this transient one, after entering Iraq, prevented all from corruption and strife, and the witness to this servant is his action. The whole are aware and testify that the congregation of this party in Iraq was more than all the countries, yet no one exceeded their limits or attacked anyone. It has been almost fifteen years that all are observant unto God and have been trusting in Him, and they have endured what has happened to them, and have left it to the truth. After this servant entered this country, which is known as Adirneh, some people in Iraq and others asked about the meaning of 'victory' that was revealed in the divine Book. Several answers were sent in response. One of those answers is being presented on this page so that it may become clear in His presence that this servant has looked at nothing but improvement and reform in this matter. Even if some of the divine graces that have been conferred upon me undeservedly are not clear and apparent, this much will become known that by His expansive favor and preceding mercy, He has not deprived the heart from the imprint of reason. 54 | هو اللّه تعالی معلوم بوده که حق جلّ ذکره مقدّس است از دنيا و آنچه در او است و مقصود از نصرت اين نبوده که نفسى بنفسى محاربه و يا مجادله نمايد سلطان يفعل ما يشاء ملکوت انشاء را از برّ و بحر بيد ملوک گذاشته و ايشانند مظاهر قدرت الهيّه علی قدر مراتبهم اگر در ظلّ حق وارد شوند از حق محسوب و الّا انّ ربّک لعليم و خبير و انچه حق جلّ ذکره از براى خود خواسته قلوب عباد او است که کنائز ذکر و محبّت ربّانيه و خزائن علم و حکمت الهيّه اند لم يزل اراده سلطان لا يزال اين بوده که قلوب عباد را از اشارات دنيا و ما فيها طاهر نمايد تا قابل انوار تجلّيات مليک اسماء و صفات شوند پس بايد در مدينه قلب بيگانه راه نيابد تا دوست يگانه بمقرّ خود آيد يعنى تجلّى اسماء و صفاتش نه ذاته تعالی چه که آن سلطان بيمثال لازال مقدّس از صعود و نزول بوده و خواهد بود پس نصرت اليوم اعتراض بر احدى و مجادله با نفسى نبوده و نخواهد بود بلکه محبوب آن است که مدائن قلوب که در تصرّف جنود نفس و هوى است بسيف بيان و حکمت و تبيان مفتوح شود لذا هر نفسى که اراده نصرت نمايد بايد اوّل بسيف معانى و بيان مدينه قلب خود را تصرّف نمايد و از ذکر ما سوى اللّه محفوظ دارد و بعد بمدائن قلوب توجّه کند اينست مقصود از نصرت ابدا فساد محبوب حق نبوده و نيست و آنچه از قبل بعضى از جهّال ارتکاب نموده اند ابدا مرضّى نبوده. ان تقتلوا فى رضاه لخير لکم من ان تقتلوا. اليوم بايد احباى الهى بشأنى در ما بين عباد ظاهر شوند که جميع را بافعال خود برضوان ذى الجلال هدايت نمايند قسم بافتاب افق تقديس که ابداً دوستان حق ناظر بارض و اموال فانيه او نبوده و نخواهند بود حق لازال ناظر بقلوب عباد خود بوده و اينهم نظر بعنايت کبرى است که شايد نفوس فانيه از شئونات ترابيّه طاهر ومقدّس شوند و بمقامات باقيه وارد گردند و الّا آن سلطان حقيقى بنفسه لنفسه مستغنى از کلّ بوده نه از حبّ ممکنات نفعى باو راجع و نه از بغضشان ضرّى وارد کلّ از امکنه ترابيّه ظاهر و باو راجع خواهند شد و حق فرداً واحداً در مقرّ خود که مقدّس از مکان و زمان و ذکر و بيان واشاره و وصف و تعريف و علوّ و دنوّ بوده مستقرّ و لا يعلم ذلک الّا هو و من عنده علم الکتاب لا اله الّا هو العزيز الوهّاب انتهى. It is clear and evident that the one true God -- glorified be His mention! -- is sanctified above the world and all that is therein. By ``rendering assistance unto God, then, it is not meant that any soul should fight or contend with another. That Sovereign Lord Who doeth whatsoever He pleaseth hath entrusted the kingdom of creation, its lands and its seas, into the hands of the kings, for they are, each according to his degree, the manifestations of His divine power. Should they enter beneath the shadow of the True One, they will be accounted of God, and if not, thy Lord, verily, knoweth and observeth all things. 211 That which God -- glorified be His Name! -- hath desired for Himself is the hearts of His servants, which are the treasuries of His love and remembrance and the repositories of His knowledge and wisdom. It hath ever been the wish of the Eternal King to cleanse the hearts of His servants from the things of the world and all that pertaineth thereunto, that they may be made worthy recipients of the effulgent splendours of Him Who is the King of all names and attributes. Wherefore must no stranger be allowed in the city of the heart, that the incomparable Friend may enter His abode. By this is meant the effulgence of His names and attributes, and not His exalted Essence, inasmuch as that peerless King hath ever been, and shall eternally remain, sanctified above ascent and descent. 212 It followeth, therefore, that rendering assistance unto God, in this day, doth not and shall never consist in contending or disputing with any soul; nay rather, what is preferable in the sight of God is that the cities of men's hearts, which are ruled by the hosts of self and passion, should be subdued by the sword of utterance, of wisdom and of understanding. Thus, whoso seeketh to assist God must, before all else, conquer, with the sword of inner meaning and explanation, the city of his own heart and guard it from the remembrance of all save God, and only then set out to subdue the cities of the hearts of others. 213 Such is the true meaning of rendering assistance unto God. Sedition hath never been pleasing unto God, nor were the acts committed in the past by certain foolish ones acceptable in His sight. Know ye that to be killed in the path of His good pleasure is better for you than to kill. The beloved of the Lord must, in this day, behave in such wise amidst His servants that they may by their very deeds and actions guide all men unto the paradise of the All-Glorious. 214 By Him Who shineth above the Dayspring of Sanctity! The friends of God have not, nor will they ever, set their hopes upon the world and its ephemeral possessions. The one true God hath ever regarded the hearts of men as His own, His exclusive possession -- and this too but as an expression of His all-surpassing mercy, that haply mortal souls may be purged and sanctified from all that pertaineth to the world of dust and gain admittance into the realms of eternity. For otherwise that ideal King is, in Himself and by Himself, sufficient unto Himself and independent of all things. Neither doth the love of His creatures profit Him, nor can their malice harm Him. All have issued forth from abodes of dust, and unto dust shall they return, while the one true God, alone and single, is established upon His Throne, a Throne which is beyond the reaches of time and space, is sanctified above all utterance or expression, intimation, description and definition, and is exalted beyond all notion of abasement and glory. And none knoweth this save Him and those with whom is the knowledge of the Book. No God is there but Him, the Almighty, the All-Bountiful. (edit) |
He is God, exalted is He. It is known that God, may His mention be exalted, is sanctified from the world and whatever is in it, and the purpose of assistance is not that one should fight soul against soul or argue. The Sovereign does what He wills. He has placed the dominion of creation, by His will, under the control of the kings from land and sea. They are the manifestations of divine power according to their ranks. If they enter the shadow of truth, they are considered of the truth, otherwise, your Lord is indeed Knowing and Wise. And what God, may His mention be exalted, has desired for Himself are the hearts of His servants, which are treasures of remembrance and divine love and the stores of knowledge and divine wisdom. The will of the eternal Sovereign has always been to purify the hearts of the servants from the allusions of the world and whatever is in it, so that they become receptive to the illuminations of the manifestations of the King of names and attributes. Thus, in the city of the heart, a stranger must not find a way, so that the unique Friend may come to His abode, meaning the manifestation of His names and attributes, not His essence exalted is He. For that Sovereign without equal has always been sanctified from ascent and descent and will be. So, the assistance today is not opposition to any one or arguing with a soul, and it will not be. Rather, the Beloved is that the cities of hearts, which are under the control of the troops of the soul and passion, be opened with the sword of explanation, wisdom, and exposition. Therefore, every soul that wishes to assist must first take possession of the city of his heart with the sword of meanings and explanations, and keep it preserved from our mention towards God, and then turn to the cities of hearts. This is the purpose of assistance. Never has corruption been the Beloved of truth, nor is it, and what some of the ignorant have committed before has never been satisfactory. "If you kill in His pleasure, it is better for you than if you kill." Today, the friends of God must appear among the servants in a way that guides everyone with their deeds to the satisfaction of the Lord of Glory. I swear by the sun of the horizon of sanctification that the friends of truth have never and will never look at the transient land and possessions. God has always looked at the hearts of His servants, and this is also a glance of great grace, so that perhaps the transient souls may become pure and sanctified from the earthly matters and enter the eternal stations. Otherwise, that true Sovereign, by Himself for Himself, has been independent of all, neither benefited by the love of the possible things nor harmed by their hatred. All will become manifest from earthly possibilities and will relate to Him, and God, tomorrow, alone in His abode, which is sanctified from place and time, and mention and explanation, and indication and description, and exaltation and nearness, will be established, and no one knows that but He and those with Him who have the knowledge of the Book. There is no god but He, the Mighty, the Bestower. The end. (edit) |
55 | ولکن حسن اعمال منوط بآنکه ذات شاهانه بنفسه بنظر عدل و عنايت در آن نظر فرمايند و بعرايض بعضى من دون بيّنه و برهان کفايت نفرمايند. نسئل اللّه بان يؤيّد السّلطان علی ما اراد و ما اراد ينبغى ان يکون مراد العالمين و بعد اين عبد را باستانبول احضار نمودند با جمعى از فقراء وارد آن مدينه شديم و بعد از ورود ابدا با احدى ملاقات نشد چه که مطلبى نداشتيم و مقصودى نبود جز آنکه ببرهان بر کلّ مبرهن گردد که اين عبد خيال فساد نداشته و ابدا با اهل فساد معاشر نه فو الّذى انطق لسان کلّ شىء بثناء نفسه نظر بمراعات بعضى مراتب توجّه بجهتى صعب بوده و لکن لحفظ نفوس اين امور واقع شده انّ ربّى يعلم ما فى نفسى و انّه علی ما اقول شهيد. ملک عادل ظلّ اللّه است در ارض بايد کلّ در سايه عدلش مأوى گيرند و در ظلّ فضلش بياسايند اين مقام تخصيص و تحديد نيست که مخصوص ببعضى دون بعضى شود چه که ظلّ از مظلّ حاکى است حق جلّ ذکره خود را ربّ العالمين فرموده زيرا که کلّ را تربيت فرموده و ميفرمايد فتعالی فضله الّذى سبق الممکنات و رحمته الّتى سبقت العالمين. اين بسى واضح است که صواب يا خطا علی زعم القوم اين طايفه امرى که بان معروفند آن را حق دانسته و اخذ کرده اند لذا از ما عندهم ابتغاء لما عند اللّه گذشته اند و همين گذشتن از جان در سبيل محبّت رحمن گواهى است صادق و شاهدى است ناطق علی ما هم يدّعون آيا مشاهده شده که عاقل من غير دليل و برهان از جان بگذرد و اگر گفته شود اين قوم مجنونند اين بسى بعيد است چه که منحصر بيک نفس و دو نفس نبوده بلکه جمعى کثير از هر قبيل از کوثر معارف الهى سرمست شده و بمشهد فدا در ره دوست بجان و دل شتافته اند. اگر اين نفوس که للّه از ما سويه گذشته اند و جان و مال در سبيلش ايثار نموده اند تکذيب شوند بکدام حجّت و برهان صدق قول ديگران علی ما هم عليه در محضر سلطان ثابت ميشود.
مرحوم حاج سيّد محمّد اعلی اللّه مقامه و اغمسه فى لجّة بحر رحمته و غفرانه با آنکه از اعلم علماى عصر بودند و اتقى و ازهد اهل زمان خود و جلالت قدرشان بمرتبه بوده که السن بريّه کلّ بذکر و ثنايش ناطق و بزهد و ورعش موقن در غزاى با روس با آنکه خود فتواى جهاد فرمودند و از وطن معروف بنصرت دين با علم مبين توجّه نمودند مع ذلک ببطش يسير از خير کثير گذشتند و مراجعت فرمودند يا ليت کشف الغطاء و ظهر ما ستر عن الابصار و اين طايفه بيست سنه متجاوز است که در ايّام و ليالی بسطوت غضب خاقانى معذّب و از هبوب عواصف قهر سلطانى هر يک بديارى افتاده اند چه مقدار از اطفال که بى پدر مانده اند و چه مقدار از آباء که بى پسر گشته اند و چه مقدار از امّهات که از بيم و خوف جرأت آنکه بر اطفال مقتول خود نوحه نمايند نداشته اند و بسى از عباد که در عشىّ با کمال غنا و ثروت بوده اند و در اشراق در نهايت فقر و ذلّت مشاهده شده اند ما من ارض الّا و قد صبغت من دمائهم و ما من هوآء الّا و قد ارتفعت اليه زفراتهم و در اين سنين معدودات من غير تعطيل از سحاب قضا سهام بلا باريده و مع جميع اين قضايا و بلايا نار حبّ الهى در قلوبشان بشأنى مشتعل که اگر کلّ را قطعه قطعه نمايند ازحبّ محبوب عالميان نگذرند بلکه بجان مشتاق و آملند آنچه در سبيل الهى وارد شود. اى سلطان نسمات رحمت رحمن اين عباد را تقليب فرموده و بشطر احديّه کشيده گواه عاشق صادق در آستين باشد و لکن بعضى از علماى ظاهره قلب انور مليک زمان را نسبت بمحرمان حرم رحمن و قاصدان کعبه عرفان مکدّر نموده اند ايکاش راى جهان آراى پادشاهى بر آن قرار ميگرفت که اين عبد با علماى عصر مجتمع ميشد و در حضور حضرت سلطان اتيان حجّت و برهان مينمود اين عبد حاضر و از حقّ آمل که چنين مجلسى فراهم آيد تا حقيقت امر در ساحت حضرت سلطان واضح و لائح گردد و بعد الامر بيدک و انا حاضر تلقاء سرير سلطنتک فاحکم لی او علىّ. خداوند رحمن در فرقان که حجّت باقيه است ما بين ملأ اکوان ميفرمايد فتمنّوا الموت ان کنتم صادقين تمنّاى موت را برهان صدق فرموده و بر مرآت ضمير منير معلوم است که اليوم کدام حزبند که از جان در سبيل معبود عالميان گذشته اند و اگر کتب استدلاليه اين قوم در اثبات ما هم عليه بدماء مسفوکه فى سبيله تعالی مرقوم ميشد هر آينه کتب لا يحصى ما بين بريّه ظاهر و مشهود بود حال چگونه اين قوم را که قول و فعلشان مطابق است ميتوان انکار نمود و نفوسى را که از يکذرّه اعتبار در سبيل مختار نگذشته و نميگذرند تصديق نمود بعضى از علماء که اين بنده را تکفير نموده اند ابدا ملاقات ننموده اند و اين عبدرا نديده اند و از مقصود مطّلع نشده اند و مع ذلک قالوا ما ارادوا و يفعلون ما يريدون هر دعوى را برهان بايد محض قول و اسباب زهد ظاهره نبوده ترجمه چند فقره از فقرات صحيفه مکنونه فاطميّه صلوات اللّه عليها که مناسب اين مقام است بلسان پارسى عرض ميشود تا بعضى از امور مستوره در پيشگاه حضور مکشوف شود و مخاطب اين بيانات در صحيفه مذکوره که بکلمات مکنونه اليوم معروفست قومى هستند که در ظاهر بعلم و تقوى معروفند و در باطن مطيع نفس و هوى ميفرمايد اى بيوفايان چرا در ظاهر دعوى شبانى کنيد و در باطن ذئب اغنام من شده ايد مثل شما مثل ستاره قبل از صبح است که در ظاهر درّى و روشن است و در باطن سبب اضلال و هلاکت کاروانهاى مدينه و ديار من است و هم چنين ميفرمايد اى بظاهر آراسته و بباطن کاسته مثل تو مثل آب تلخ صافى است که کمال لطافت و صفا از او در ظاهر مشاهده شود و چون بدست صرّاف ذائقه احديّه افتد قطره از آن را قبول نفرمايد تجلّى آفتاب در تراب و مرآت هر دو موجود و لکن از فرقدان تا ارض فرق دان بلکه فرق بى منتهى در ميان و همچنين ميفرمايد اى پسر دنيا بسا سحرگاهان تجلّى عنايت من از مشرق لا مکان بمکان تو آمد و تو را در بستر راحت بغير مشغول ديد و چون برق روحانى بمقرّ عزّ نورانى رجوع نمود و در مکامن قرب نزد جنود قدس اظهار نداشتم و خجلت تو را نپسنديدم و همچنين ميفرمايد اى مدّعى دوستى من در سحرگاهان نسيم عنايت من بر تو مرور نمود و تو را بر فراش غفلت خفته يافت و بر حال تو گريست و باز گشت انتهى. لذا در پيشگاه عدل سلطانى نبايد بقول مدّعى اکتفا رود و در فرقان که فارق بين حق و باطل است ميفرمايد يا ايّها الّذين آمنوا ان جائکم فاسق بنباءٍ فتبيّنوا ان تصيبوا قوما بجهالة فتصبحوا علی ما فعلتم نادمين و در حديث شريف وارد لا تصدّقوا النّمّام. بر بعضى از علماء امر مشتبه شده و اين عبد را نديده اند و ان نفوس که ملاقات نموده اند شهادت ميدهند که اين عبد بغير ما حکم اللّه فى الکتاب تکلّم ننموده و باين آيه مبارکه ذاکر قوله تعالی هل تنقمون منّا الّا ان امنّا باللّه و ما انزل الينا و ما انزل من قبل. اى پادشاه زمان چشمهاى اين آوارگان بشطر رحمت رحمن متوجّه و ناظر و البتّه اين بلايا را رحمت کبرى از پى و اين شدايد عظمى را رخاء عظيم از عقب و لکن اميد چنان است که حضرت سلطان بنفسه در امور توجّه فرمايند که سبب رجاى قلوب گردد. و اين خير محض است که عرض شد و کفى باللّه شهيدا. سبحانک اللّهم يا الهى اشهد بانّ قلب السّلطان قد کان بين اصبعى قدرتک لو تريد قلّبه يا الهى الی شطر الرّحمة و الاحسان و انّک انت المتعالی المقتدر المنّان لا اله الّا انت العزيز المستعان. در شرايط علماء ميفرمايد و امّا من کان من الفقهآء صائناً لنفسه حافظاً لدينه مخالفاً لهويه مطيعاً لامر موليه فللعوام ان يقلّدوه الی آخر و اگر پادشاه زمان باين بيان که از لسان مظهر وحى رحمن جارى شده ناظر شوند ملاحظه ميفرمايند که متّصفين باين صفات وارده در حديث شريف اقلّ از کبريت احمرند لذا هر نفسى که مدّعى علم است قولش مسموع نبوده و نيست و هم چنين در ذکر فقهاى آخر الزّمان ميفرمايد فقهاء ذلک الزّمان اشرّ فقها تحت ظلّ السّماء منهم خرجت الفتنة و اليهم تعود و همچنين ميفرمايد اذا ظهرت راية الحقّ لعنها اهل الشّرق و الغرب و اگر اين احاديث را نفسى تکذيب نمايد ثبوت آن بر اين عبد است. چون مقصود اختصار است لذا تفصيل رواة عرض نشد علمائى که فى الحقيقه از کأس انقطاع آشاميده اند ابداً متعرّض اين عبد نشده اند چنانچه مرحوم شيخ مرتضى اعلی اللّه مقامه و اسکنه فى ظلّ قباب عنايته در ايّام توقّف در عراق اظهار محبّت ميفرمودند و بغير ما اذن اللّه در اين امر تکلّم ننمودند. نسئل اللّه بان يوفّق الکلّ علی ما يحبّ و يرضى حال جميع نفوس از جميع امور چشم پوشيده اند و باذيّت اين طائفه متوجّهند چنانچه اگر از بعضى که بعد از فضل بارى در ظلّ مرحمت سلطانى آرميده اند و بنعمت غير متناهيه متنعّمند سوال شود که در جزاى نعمت سلطانى چه خدمت اظهار نموده ايد بحسن تدبير مملکتى بر ممالک افزوديد و يا بامرى که سبب آسايش رعيّت و ابادى مملکت و ابقاى ذکر خير دولت شود توجّه نموده ايد جوابى ندارند جز آنکه جمعى را صدق و يا کذب باسم بابى در حضور سلطان معروض دارند و بعد بقتل و تاراج مشغول شوند چنانچه در تبريز و منصوريّه مصر بعضى را فروختند و زخارف کثيره اخذ نمودند و ابدا در پيشگاه حضور سلطان عرض نشده کلّ اين امور نظر بآن واقع شده که اين فقرا را بى معين يافته اند از امور خطيره گذشته اند و باين فقراء پرداخته اند طوائف متعدّده و ملل مختلفه در ظلّ سلطان مستريحند يکطائفه هم اين قوم باشند بلکه بايد علو همّت و سمو فطرت ملازمان سلطانى بشانى مشاهده شود که در تدبير آن باشند که جميع اديان در سايه سلطان در آيند و ما بين کلّ بعدل حکم رانند اجراى حدود اللّه محض عدل است و کلّ بان راضى بلکه حدود الهيّه سبب و علّت حفظ بريّه بوده و خواهد بود بقوله تعالی و لکم فى القصاص حيوة يا اولی الألباب از عدل حضرت سلطان بعيد است که بخطاى نفسى جمعى از نفوس مورد سياط غضب شوند حقّ جلّ ذکره ميفرمايد لا تزر وارزة وزر اخرى و اين بسى معلوم که در هر طائفه عالم و جاهل عاقل و غافل فاسق و متّقى بوده و خواهد بود و ارتکاب امور شنيعه از عاقل بعيد است چه که عاقل يا طالب دنيا است و يا تارک آن اگر تارک است البتّه بغير حقّ توجّه ننمايد و از اين گذشته خشية اللّه او را از ارتکاب افعال منهيّه مذمومه منع نمايد و اگر طالب دنيا است امورى که سبب و علّت اعراض عباد و وحشت من فى البلاد شود البتّه ارتکاب ننمايد بلکه باعمالی که سبب اقبال ناس است عامل شود پس مبرهن شد که اعمال مردوده از انفس جاهله بوده و خواهد بود نسئل اللّه بان يحفظ عباده عن التّوجّه الی غيره و يقرّبهم اليه انّه علی کلّ شيىءٍ قدير سبحانک اللّهم يا الهى تسمع حنينى و ترى حالی و ضرّى و ابتلائى و تعلم ما فى نفسى ان کان ندائى خالصا لوجهک فاجذب به قلوب بريّتک الی افق سماء عرفانک و قلب السّلطان الی يمين عرش اسمک الرّحمن ثمّ ارزقه يا الهى النّعمة الّتى نزّلت من سماء کرمک و سحاب رحمتک لينقطع عمّا عنده و يتوجّه الی شطر الطافک. اى ربّ ايّده علی نصرة امرک و اعلاء کلمتک بين خلقک ثمّ انصره بجنود الغيب و الشّهادة ليسخّر المدائن باسمک و يحکم علی من علی الارض کلّها بقدرتک و سلطانک يا من بيدک ملکوت الايجاد و انّک انت الحاکم فى المبدء و المعاد لا اله الّا انت المقتدر العزيز الحکيم. بشأنى امر را در پيشگاه حضور سلطانى مشتبه نموده اند که اگر از نفسى از اين طائفه عمل قبيحى صادر شود آن را از مذهب اين عباد ميشمرند. فو اللّه الّذى لا اله الّا هو اين عبد ارتکاب مکاره را جايز ندانسته تا چه رسد بآنچه صريحا در کتب الهى نهى آن نازل شده حق ناس را از شرب خمر نهى فرموده و حرمت آن در کتاب الهى نازل و ثبت شده و علماى عصر کثّر اللّه امثالهم طرّا ناس را از اين عمل شنيع نهى نموده اند مع ذلک بعضى مرتکبند حال جزاى اين عمل بنفوس غافله راجع و آن مظاهر عزّ تقديس مقدّس و مبّرا يشهد بتقديسهم کلّ الوجود من الغيب و الشّهود بلی اين عباد حق را يفعل ما يشاء و يحکم ما يريد ميدانند و ظهورات مظاهر احديّه را در عالم ملکيّه محال ندانسته اند و اگر نفسى محال داند چه فرق است ما بين او و قومى که يد اللّه را مغلول دانسته اند و اگر حقّ جلّ ذکره را مختار دانند بايد هر امرى که از مصدر حکم آن سلطان قدم ظاهر شود کلّ قبول نمايند لا مفرّ و لا مهرب لاحد الّا الی اللّه لا عاصم و لا ملجاء الّا اليه و امرى که لازم است اتيان دليل و برهان مدّعى علی ما يقول و يدّعى ديگر اعراض ناس از عالم و جاهل منوط نبوده و نخواهد بود. انبياء که لئالی بحر احديّه و مهابط وحى الهيّه اند محلّ اعراض و اعتراض ناس واقع شده اند چنانچه ميفرمايد و همّت کلّ امّةٍ برسولهم ليأخذوه و جادلوا بالباطل ليدحضوا به الحقّ و همچنين ميفرمايد ما يأتيهم من رسول الّا کانوا به يستهزئون. در ظهور خاتم انبياء و سلطان اصفياء روح العالمين فداه ملاحظه فرمائيد که بعد از اشراق شمس حقيقت از افق حجاز چه مقدار ظلم از اهل ضلال بر آن مظهر عزّ ذى الجلال وارد شده بشانى عباد غافل بودند که اذيّت آن حضرت را از اعظم اعمال و سبب وصول بحقّ متعال ميدانسته اند چه که علماى آن عصر در سنين اوّليّه از يهود و نصارى از آن شمس افق اعلی اعراض نمودند و باعراض آن نفوس جميع ناس از وضيع و شريف بر اطفاى نور آن نيّر افق معانى کمر بستند اسامى کلّ در کتب مذکور است از جمله وهب بن راهب و کعب بن اشرف و عبداللّه ابّى و امثال آن نفوس تا آنکه امر بمقامى رسيد که در سفک دم اطهر آن حضرت مجلس شورى ترتيب دادند چنانچه حقّ جلّ ذکره خبر فرموده و اذ يمکر بک الّذين کفروا ليثبتوک او يقتلوک او يخرجوک و يمکرون و يمکر اللّه و اللّه خير الماکرين و همچنين ميفرمايد و ان کان کبر عليک اعراضهم فان استطعت ان تبتغى نفقاً فى الارض او سلّماً فى السّماء فتأتيهم بايةٍ و لو شاء اللّه لجمعهم علی الهدى فلا تکوننّ من الجاهلين. تاللّه از مضمون اين دو آيه مبارکه قلوب مقرّبين در احتراق است و امثال اين امور وارده محقّقه از نظر محو شده و ابداً تفکّر ننموده و نمى نمايند که سبب اعراض عباد در احيان ظهور مطالع انوار الهيّه چه بوده و همچنين قبل از خاتم انبياء در عيسى بن مريم ملاحظه فرمايند بعد از ظهور ان مظهر رحمن جميع علما آن ساذج ايمان را بکفر و طغيان نسبت داده اند تا بالاخره باجازه حنّاس که اعظم علماى آن عصر بود و همچنين قيافا که اقضى القضاة بود برآنحضرت وارد آوردند آنچه را که قلم از ذکرش خجل و عاجز است. ضاقت عليه الارض بوسعتها الی ان عرّجه اللّه الی السّماء و اگر تفصيل جميع انبياء عرض شود بيم آنست که کسالت عارض گردد و مخصوص علماى تورية بر آنند که بعد از موسى نبّى مستقل صاحب شريعت نخواهد آمد نفسى از اولاد داود ظاهر خواهد شد و او مروّج شريعت تورية خواهد شد تا باعانت او حکم تورية ما بين اهل شرق و غرب جارى و نافذ گردد و همچنين اهل انجيل محال دانسته اند که بعد از عيسى بن مريم صاحب امر جديد از مشرق مشيّت الهى اشراق نمايد و مستدلّ باين آيه شده اند که در انجيل است انّ السّماء و الارض تزولان و لکن کلام ابن الانسان لن يزول ابداً و بر آنند که آنچه عيسى بن مريم فرموده و امر نموده تغيير نيابد. در يک مقام از انجيل ميفرمايد انّى ذاهب و اتٍ و در انجيل يوحنّا هم بشارت داده بروح تسلّى دهنده که بعد از من مى آيد و در انجيل لوقا هم بعضى علامات مذکور است و لکن چون بعضى از علماى آن ملّت هر بيانى را تفسيرى بهواى خود نمودند لذا از مقصود محتجب ماندند. فيا ليت اذنت لی يا سلطان لنرسل الی حضرتک ما تقرّبه العيون و تطمئنّ به النّفوس و يوقن کلّ منصف بانّ عنده علم الکتاب و بعضى از ناس چون از جواب خصم عاجزند بحبل تحريف کتب متمسّکند و حال آنکه ذکر تحريف در مواضع مخصوصه بوده لو لا اعراض الجهلاء و اغماض العلماء لقلت مقالاً تفرح به القلوب و تطير الی الهواء الّذى يسمع من هزيز ارياحه انّه لا اله الّا هو و لکنّ الان لعدم اقتضاء الزّمان منعت اللّسان عن البيان و ختم اناء التّبيان الی ان يفتح اللّه بقدرته انّه لهو المقتدر القدير سبحانک اللّهم يا الهى اسئلک باسمک الّذى به سخرّت من فى السّموات و الارض بان تحفظ سراج امرک بزجاجة قدرتک و الطافک لئلّا تمرّ عليه ارياح الانکار من شطر الّذين غفلوا من اسرار اسمک المختار ثمّ زد نوره بدهن حکمتک انّک انت المقتدر علی من فى ارضک و سمائک. اى ربّ اسئلک بالکلمة العليا الّتى بها فزع من فى الارض و السّماء الّا من تمسّک بالعروة الوثقى بان لا تدعنى بين خلقک فارفعنى اليک و ادخلنى فى ظلال رحمتک و اشربنى زلال خمر عنايتک لاسکن فى خباء مجدک و قباب الطافک انّک انت المقتدر علی ما تشاء و انّک انت المهيمن القيّوم. يا سلطان قد خبت مصابيح الانصاف و اشتعلت نار الأعتساف فى کلّ الاطراف الی ان جعلوا اهلی اسارى من الزّورآء الی الموصل الحدبآء ليس هذا اوّل حرمة هتکت فى سبيل اللّه ينبغى لکلّ نفس ان ينظر و يذکر فيما ورد علی ال الرّسول اذ جعلهم القوم اسارى و ادخلوهم فى دمشق الفيحآء و کان بينهم سيّد السّاجدين و سند المقرّبين و کعبة المشتاقين روح ما سواه فداه قيل لهم أأنْتم الخوارج قال لا و اللّه نحن عباد امنّا باللّه و آياته و بنا افترّ ثغر الايمان و لاحت آية الرّحمن و بذکرنا سالت البطحآء و ماطت الظّلمة الّتى حالت بين الارض و السماء. قيل احرّمتم ما احلّه اللّه او حلّلتم ما حرّمه اللّه قال نحن اوّل من اتّبع اوامر اللّه و نحن اصل الامر و مبدئه و اوّل کلّ خير و منتهاه نحن آية القدم و ذکره بين الامم. قيل اترکتم القران قال فينا انزله الرّحمن و نحن نسائم السّبحان بين الاکوان و نحن الشّوارع الّتى انشعبت من البحر الاعظم الّذى احيى اللّه به الارض و يحييها به بعد موتها و منّا انتشرت آياته و ظهرت بيّناته و برزت آثاره و عندنا معانيه و اسراره. قيل لاىّ جرم مليتم قال لحبّ اللّه و انقطاعنا عمّا سويه. انّا ما ذکرنا عبارته عليه السّلام بل رشّحنا رشحا من البحر الحيوان الّذى کان مودعا فى کلماته ليحيى به المقبلون و يطّلعوا بما ورد علی امناء اللّه من قوم سوء اخسرين و نرى اليوم يعترضون القوم علی الّذين ظلموا من قبل و هم يظلمون اشدّ ممّا ظلموا و لا يعرفون تاللّه انّى ما اردت الفساد بل تطهير العباد عن کلّ ما منعهم عن التّقرّب الی اللّه مالک يوم التّناد. کنت نائما علی مضجعى مرّت علىّ نفحات ربّى الرّحمن و ايقظتنى من النّوم و امرنى بالنّدا بين الارض و السّمآء ما کان هذا من عندى بل من عنده و يشهد بذلک سکّان جبروته و ملکوته و اهل مدائن عزّه فو نفسه الحقّ لا اجزع من البلايا فى سبيله و لا عن الرّزايا فى حبّه و رضائه قد جعل اللّه البلآء غادية لهذه الدّسکرة الخضرآء و ذبالةً لمصباحه الّذى به اشرقت الارض و السّمآء. هل يبقى لاحدٍ ما عنده من ثروته او يغنيه غدا عن مالک ناصيته لو ينظر احد فى الّذين ناموا تحت الرّضام و جاوروا الرّغام هل يقدر ان يميّز رمم جماجم المالک عن براجم المملوک لا فو مالک الملوک و هل يعرف الولاة من الرّعاة و هل يميّز اولی الثّروة و الغنا من الّذى کان بلا حذآء و وطآء. تاللّه قد رفع الفرق الّا لمن قضى الحقّ و قضى بالحقّ اين العلما و الفضلاء و الامراء اين دقّة انظارهم و حّدة ابصارهم و رقّة افکارهم و سلامة اذکارهم و اين خزائنهم المستورة و زخارفهم المشهودة و سررهم الموضونة و فرشهم الموضوعة. هيهات قد صار الکلّ بوراً و جعلهم قضاء اللّه هباءً منثوراً قد نثل ما کنزوا و تشتّت ما جمعوا و تبدّد ما کتموا اصبحوا لا يرى الّا اماکنهم الخالية و سقوفهم الخاوية و جذوعهم المنقعرة و قشيبهم البالية. انّ البصير لا يشغله المال عن النظر الی المآل و الخبير لا تمسّکه الاموال عن التّوجّه الی الغنىّ المتعال اين من حکم علی ما طلعت الشّمس عليها و اسرف و استطرف فى الدّنيا و ما خلق فيها اين صاحب الکتيبة السّمرآء و الرّاية الصّفرآء اين من حکم فى الزّورآء و اين من ظلم فى الفيحاء و اين الّذين ارتعد الکنوز من کرمهم و قبض البحر عند بسط اکفّهم و هممهم و اين من طال ذراعه فى العصيان و مال ذرعه عن الرّحمن اين الّذى کان ان يجتبى اللّذات و يجتنى اثمار الشّهوات اين ربّات الکمال و ذوات الجمال اين اغصانهم المتمايلة و افنانهم المتطاولة و قصورهم العالية و بساتينهم المعروشة و اين دقّة اديمها ورقّة نسيمها و خرير مائها و هزيز ارياحها و هدير ورقائها و حفيف اشجارها و اين سحورهم المفترّة و ثغورهم المبتسمة فواهاً لهم قد هبطوا الحضيض و جاوروا القضيض لا يسمع اليوم منهم ذکر و لا رکز و لا يعرف منهم امر و لا رمز. ايمارون القوم و هم يشهدون اينکرون و هم يعلمون لم ادر باىّ وادٍ يهيمون اما يرون يذهبون و لا يرجعون الی متى يغيرون و ينجدون يهبطون و يصعدون. الم يأن للّذين آمنوا ان تخشع قلوبهم لذکر اللّه طوبى لمن قال و يقول بلی يا ربّ آن و حان و ينقطع عمّا کان الی مالک الاکوان و مليک الامکان. هيهات لا يحصد الّا ما زرع و لا يؤخذ الّا ما وضع الّا بفضل اللّه و کرمه. هل حملت الارض بالّذى لا تمنعه سبحات الجلال عن الصعود الی ملکوت ربّه العزيز المتعال و هل لنا من العمل ما يزول به العلل و يقرّبنا الی مالک العلل. نسئل الله بان يعاملنا بفضله لا بعدله و يجعلنا ممنّ توجّه اليه و انقطع عما سويه. يا ملک قد رايت فى سبيل اللّه ما لا رأت عين و لا سمعت اذن قد انکرنى المعارف و ضاق علىّ المخارف قد نضب ضِحْضاح السّلامة و اصفّر ضَحْضاح الرّاحة کم من البلايا نزلت و کم منها سوف تنزل امشى مقبلاً الی العزيز الوّهاب و عن ورائى تنساب الحباب. قد استهلّ مدمعى الی ان بلّ مضجعى و ليس حزنى لنفسى تاللّه راسى يشتاق الرّماح فى حبّ موليه و ما مررت علی شجر الّا و قد خاطبه فؤادى يا ليت قطعت لاسمى و صلب عليک جسدى فى سبيل ربّى بل بما ارى النّاس فى سکرتهم يعمهون و لا يعرفون رفعوا اهوائهم و وضعوا الههم کانّهم اتّخذوا امر اللّه هزواً و لهواً و لعباً و يحسبون انّهم محسنون و فى حصن الأمان هم محصنون ليس الامر کما يظنّون غداً يرون ما ينکرون فسوف يخرجوننا اولو الحکم و الغنا من هذه الارض الّتى سميّت بادرنه الی مدينة عکّا و ممّا يحکون انّها اخرب مدن الدّنيا و اقبحها صورةً و اردئها هواءً و انتنها مآءً کانّها دار حکومة الصّدى لا يسمع من ارجائها الّا صوت ترجيعه و ارادوا ان يحبسوا الغلام فيها و يسدّوا علی وجوهنا ابواب الرّخآء و يصدّوا عنّا عرض الحيوة الدّنيا فيما غبر من ايّامنا تاللّه لو ينهکنى اللّغب و يهلکنى السّغب و يجعل فراشى من الصّخرة الصّمّآء و مؤانسى وحوش العراء لا اجزع و اصبر کما صبر اولو الحزم و اصحاب العزم بحول اللّه مالک القدم و خالق الامم و اشکر اللّه علی کلّ الاحوال و نرجو من کرمه تعالی بهذا الحبس يعتق الرّقاب من السّلاسل و الاطناب و يجعل الوجوه خالصة لوجهه العزيز الوهّاب انّه مجيب لمن دعاه و قريب لمن ناجاه و نسئله بان يجعل هذا البلآء الادهم درعاً لهيکل امره و به يحفظه من سيوف شاحذة و قضب نافذة لم يزل بالبلآء علا امره و سنا ذکره هذا من سنّته قد خلت فى القرون الخالية و الاعصار الماضية فسوف يعلمون القوم ما لا يفقهونه اليوم اذا عثر جوادهم و طوى مهادهم و کلّت اسيافهم و زلّت اقدامهم لم ادر الی متى يرکبون مطيّة الهوى و يهيمون فى هيمآء الغفلة و الغوى. ايبقى عزّة من عزّ و ذلّة من ذلّ ام يبقى من اتّکأ علی الوسادة العليا و بلغ فى العزّة الی الغاية القصوى لا و ربّى الرّحمن کلّ من عليها فان و يبقى وجه ربّى العزيز المنّان. اىّ درع ما اصابها سهم الرّدى و اىّ فود ما عرّته يد القضا و اىّ حصن منع عنه رسول الموت اذا اتى و اىّ سرير ما کسر و اىّ سدير ما قفر. لو علم النّاس ما ورآء الختام من رحيق رحمة ربّهم العزيز العلّام لنبذوا الملام و استرضوا عن الغلام و امّا الان حجّبونى بحجاب الظّلام الّذى نسجوه بايدى الظّنون و الاوهام.سوف تشقّ يد البيضآء جيبا لهذه اللّيلة الدّلمآء و يفتح اللّه لمدينته باباً رتاجاً يومئذ يدخلون فيها النّاس افواجاً و يقولون ما قالته اللّائمات من قبل ليظهر فى الغايات ما بدا فى البدايات. ايريدون الاقامة و رجلهم فى الرّکاب و هل يرون لذهابهم من اياب لا و ربّ الارباب الّا فى المآب يومئذ يقوم النّاس من الاجداث و يسئلون عن التّراث طوبى لمن لا تسومه الاثقال فى ذلک اليوم الّذى فيه تمرّ الجبال و يحضر الکلّ للسّؤال فى محضر اللّه المتعال انّه شديد النّکال. نسئل اللّه بان يقدّس قلوب بعض العلماء من الضّغينة و البغضآء لينظروا الاشيآء بعين لا يغلبها الاغضآء و يصعدهم الی مقام لا تقلّبهم الدّنيا و رياستها عن النّظر الی الافق الاعلی و لا يشغلهم المعاش و اسباب الفراش عن اليوم الّذى فيه يجعل الجبال کالفراش و لو انّهم يفرحون بما ورد علينا من البلآء فسوف يأتى يوم فيه ينوحون و يبکون. فو ربّى لو خيّرت فيما هم عليه من العزّة و الغنا و الثّروة و العلاء و الرّاحة و الرّخاء و ما انا فيه من الشّدة و البلآء لاخترت ما انا فيه اليوم و الان لا ابدّل ذرّة من هذه البلايا بما خلق فى ملکوت الانشآء. لولا البلاء فى سبيل اللّه ما لذّلی بقائى و ما نفعنى حيوتى و لا يخفى علی اهل البصر و النّاظرين الی المنظر الاکبر بانّى فى اکثر ايّامى کنت کعبد يکون جالساً تحت سيفٍ علّق بشعرة واحدة و لم يدر متى ينزل عليه اينزل فى الحين او بعد حين و فى کلّ ذلک نشکر اللّه ربّ العالمين و نحمده فى کلّ الاحوال انّه علی کلّ شىء شهيد. نسئل اللّه بان يبسط ظلّه ليسرعنّ اليه الموحّدون و يأوينّ فيه المخلصون و يرزق العباد من روض عنايته زَهراً و من افق الطافه زُهرا و يؤيّده فيما يحبّ و يرضى و يوفّقه علی ما يقرّبه الی مطلع اسمائه الحسنى ليغضّ الطّرف ممّا يرى من الاجحاف و ينظر الی الرّعية بعين الالطاف و يحفظهم من الاعتساف و نسئله تعالی بان يجمع الکلّ علی خليج البحر الاعظم الّذى کلّ قطرةٍ منه تنادى انّه مبشّر العالمين و محيى العالمين و الحمد للّه مالک يوم الدّين و نسئله تعالی بان يجعلک ناصراً لامره و ناظرا الی عدله لتحکم علی العباد کما تحکم علی ذوى قرابتک و تختار لهم ما تختاره لنفسک انّه لهو المقتدر المتعالی المهيمن القيّوم. It behoveth the benevolence of the Sovereign, however, to examine all matters with the eye of justice and mercy, and not to content himself with the baseless claims of certain individuals. We beseech God to graciously assist the King to fulfil that which He pleaseth, and, verily, that which He desireth should be the desire of all the worlds. 216 Later this Servant was summoned to Constantinople, whither We arrived accompanied by a poor band of exiles. At no time thereafter did We seek to meet with anyone, as We had no request to make and no aim in view but to demonstrate unto all that this Servant had no mischief in mind and had never associated with the sowers of sedition. By Him Who hath caused the tongues of all beings to speak forth His praise! While certain considerations rendered it difficult to make application to any quarter, such steps were perforce taken to protect certain souls. My Lord, verily, knoweth what is in Me, and He beareth witness unto the truth of what I say. 217 A just king is the shadow of God on earth. All should seek shelter under the shadow of his justice, and rest in the shade of his favour. This is not a matter which is either specific or limited in its scope, that it might be restricted to one or another person, inasmuch as the shadow telleth of the One Who casteth it. God, glorified be His remembrance, hath called Himself the Lord of the worlds, for He hath nurtured and still nurtureth everyone. Glorified be, then, His grace that hath preceded all created things, and His mercy that hath surpassed the worlds. 218 It is clear and evident that, whether this Cause be seen as right or wrong by the people, those who are associated with its name have accepted and embraced it as true, and have forsaken their all in their eagerness to partake of the things of God. That they should evince such renunciation in the path of the love of the All-Merciful is in itself a faithful witness and an eloquent testimony to the truth of their convictions. Hath it ever been witnessed that a man of sound judgement should sacrifice his life without cause or reason? And if it be suggested that this people have taken leave of their senses, this too is highly improbable, inasmuch as such behaviour hath not been confined to merely a soul or two -- nay, a vast multitude of every class have drunk their fill of the living waters of divine knowledge, and, intoxicated, have hastened with heart and soul to the field of sacrifice in the way of the Beloved. 219 If these souls, who have renounced all else but God for His sake and offered up their life and substance in His path, are to be accounted as false, then by what proof and testimony can the truth of what others assert be established in thy presence? The late Hájí Siyyid Muhammad20 -- may God exalt his station and immerse him in the ocean of His forgiveness and mercy! -- was one of the most learned divines of his age, and one of the most devout and pious men of his time. So highly was he regarded that his praise was on every tongue, and his righteousness and piety were universally acknowledged. Yet, when hostilities broke out with Russia,21 he who himself had pronounced the decree of holy war, and who with blazoned standard had left his native land to rally to the support of his faith, abandoned, after the inconvenience of a brief encounter, all the good that he had purposed, and returned whence he had come. Would that the veil might be lifted, and that which hath ere now remained hidden from the eyes of men be made manifest! 220 For more than twenty years this people have, day and night, been subjected to the fury of the Sovereign's wrath, and have been scattered by the tempestuous gales of his displeasure, each to a different land. How many the children who have been left fatherless, and how many the fathers who have lost their sons! How many the mothers who have dared not, out of fear and dread, to mourn their slaughtered offspring! How numerous those who, at eventide, were possessed of utmost wealth and affluence, and who, when morning came, had fallen into utter abasement and destitution! No land is there whose soil hath not been tinged with their blood, nor reach of heaven unto which their sighs have not ascended. Throughout the years the darts of affliction have unceasingly rained down from the clouds of God's decree, yet despite all these calamities and tribulations, the flame of divine love hath so blazed in their hearts that even should their bodies be torn asunder they would not forsake their love of Him Who is the Best-Beloved of the worlds, but would welcome with heart and soul whatever might befall them in the path of God. 221 O King! The breezes of the grace of the All-Merciful have transformed these servants and attracted them unto His Holy Court. ``The witness of a true lover is upon his sleeve. Nevertheless, some of the outwardly learned have troubled the luminous heart of the King of the Age concerning these souls who revolve round the Tabernacle of the All-Merciful and who seek to attain the Sanctuary of true knowledge. Would that the world-adorning wish of His Majesty might decree that this Servant be brought face to face with the divines of the age, and produce proofs and testimonies in the presence of His Majesty the Sháh! This Servant is ready, and taketh hope in God, that such a gathering may be convened in order that the truth of the matter may be made clear and manifest before His Majesty the Sháh. It is then for thee to command, and I stand ready before the throne of thy sovereignty. Decide, then, for Me or against Me. 222 The All-Merciful saith in the Qur'án, His abiding testimony unto all the peoples of the world: ``Wish ye then for death, if ye be men of truth.22 Behold how He hath declared the yearning for death to be the touchstone of sincerity! And, in the luminous mirror of thy judgement, it is doubtless clear and evident which people have chosen, in this day, to lay down their lives in the path of the Beloved of the worlds. Indeed, were the books supporting the beliefs of this people to be written with the blood spilled in the path of God -- exalted be His glory! -- then countless volumes would have already appeared amongst men for all to see. 223 How, We fain would ask, is it possible to impugn this people whose deeds are in conformity with their words, and to give credence instead to those who have refused to relinquish one jot of their worldly authority in the path of Him Who is the Unconstrained? Some of the divines who have declared this Servant an infidel have at no time met with Me. Never having seen Me, or become acquainted with My purpose, they have nevertheless spoken as they pleased and acted as they desired. Yet every claim requireth a proof, not mere words and displays of outward piety. 224 In this connection the text of several passages from the Hidden Book of Fátimih -- the blessings of God be upon her! -- which are relevant to the present theme will be cited in the Persian tongue, that certain matters which have ere now been hidden may be revealed before thy presence. The people addressed in the aforementioned Book, which is today known as the Hidden Words, are those who, though outwardly known for learning and piety, are inwardly the slaves of self and passion. 225 He saith: O ye that are foolish, yet have a name to be wise! Wherefore do ye wear the guise of the shepherd, when inwardly ye have become wolves, intent upon My flock? Ye are even as the star, which riseth ere the dawn, and which, though it seem radiant and luminous, leadeth the wayfarers of My city astray into the paths of perdition. 226 And likewise He saith: O ye seeming fair yet inwardly foul! Ye are like clear but bitter water, which to outward seeming is crystal pure but of which, when tested by the Divine Assayer, not a drop is accepted. Yea, the sunbeam falls alike upon the dust and the mirror, yet differ they in reflection even as doth the star from the earth: nay, immeasurable is the difference! 227 And also He saith: O essence of desire! At many a dawn have I turned from the realms of the Placeless unto thine abode, and found thee on the bed of ease busied with others than Myself. Thereupon, even as the flash of the spirit, I returned to the realms of celestial glory, and breathed it not in My retreats above unto the hosts of holiness. 228 And again He saith: O bondslave of the world! Many a dawn hath the breeze of My loving-kindness wafted over thee and found thee upon the bed of heedlessness fast asleep. Bewailing then thy plight it returned whence it came. 23 229 Therefore, in the exercise of the royal justice, it is not sufficient to give ear to the claimant alone. God saith in the Qur'án, the unerring Balance that distinguisheth truth from falsehood: ``O ye who believe! If a wicked man come to you with news, clear it up at once, lest through ignorance ye harm others, and afterward repent of what ye have done.24 The holy Traditions, moreover, contain the admonition: ``Believe not the tale-bearer. Certain of the divines, who have never seen Us, have misconceived the nature of Our Cause. Those, however, who have met Us will testify that this Servant hath not spoken save in accordance with that which God hath commanded in the Book, and that He hath called attention to the following blessed verse -- exalted be His Word: ``Do ye not disavow us merely because we believe in God, and in what He hath sent down unto us, and in what He had sent down aforetime?25 230 O King of the age! The eyes of these refugees are turned towards and fixed upon the mercy of the Most Merciful. No doubt is there whatever that these tribulations will be followed by the outpourings of a supreme mercy, and these dire adversities will be succeeded by an overflowing prosperity. We fain would hope, however, that His Majesty the Sháh will himself examine these matters and bring hope to the hearts. That which We have submitted to thy Majesty is indeed for thine highest good. And God, verily, is a sufficient witness unto Me. 231 Glorified art Thou, O Lord My God! I bear witness that the heart of the King is in truth between the fingers of Thy might. If it be Thy wish, do Thou incline it, O My God, in the direction of charity and mercy. Thou, verily, art the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the Most Bountiful. No God is there besides Thee, the All-Glorious, the One Whose help is sought by all. 232 Concerning the prerequisites of the learned, He saith: ``Whoso among the learned guardeth his self, defendeth his faith, opposeth his desires, and obeyeth his Lord's command, it is incumbent upon the generality of the people to pattern themselves after him....26 Should the King of the Age reflect upon this utterance which hath streamed from the tongue of Him Who is the Dayspring of the Revelation of the All-Merciful, he would perceive that those who have been adorned with the attributes enumerated in this holy Tradition are scarcer than the philosopher's stone; wherefore not every man that layeth claim to knowledge deserveth to be believed. 233 Again concerning the divines of the Latter Days, He saith: ``The religious doctors of that age shall be the most wicked of the divines beneath the shadow of heaven. Out of them hath mischief proceeded, and unto them it shall return. And again He saith: ``When the Standard of Truth is made manifest, the people of both the East and the West curse it.27 Should anyone dispute these Traditions, this Servant will undertake to establish their validity, since the details of their transmission have been omitted here for the sake of brevity. 234 Those doctors who have indeed drunk of the cup of renunciation have never interfered with this Servant. Thus, for example, Shaykh Murtaá28 -- may God exalt his station and cause him to repose beneath the canopy of His grace! -- showed forth kindness during Our sojourn in `Iráq, and never spoke of this Cause otherwise than as God hath given leave. We beseech God to graciously assist all to do His will and pleasure. 235 Now, however, all have lost sight of every other consideration, and are bent upon the persecution of this people. Thus, if it be inquired of certain persons who, by the grace of their Lord, repose beneath the shadow of thy royal mercy and enjoy countless favours, ``What service have ye rendered in return for these royal favours? Have ye through wise policy annexed a further territory to the realm? Have ye applied yourselves to aught that would secure the welfare of the people, the prosperity of the kingdom, and the lasting glory of the state?, they will have no other reply than to designate, justly or falsely, a group of people before thy royal presence as Bábís, and forthwith to engage in massacre and pillage. In Tabríz, for instance, and in the Egyptian town of Mansúríyyih, a number of this people were ransomed and large sums were seized, yet no account of these matters was ever made in the court of thy presence. 236 The reason for which all these things have come to pass is that their persecutors, finding these unfortunate ones without protection, have forgone more weighty matters and occupied themselves instead with harassing this afflicted people. Numerous confessions and divers creeds abide peacefully beneath the shadow of thy sovereignty. Let this people be also numbered with them. Nay, those who serve the King should be animated by such lofty aims and sublime intentions as to continually strive to bring all religions beneath the shelter of his shadow, and to rule over them with perfect justice. 237 To enforce the laws of God is naught but justice, and is the source of universal content. Nay more, the divine statutes have always been, and will ever remain, the cause and instrument of the preservation of mankind, as witnessed by His exalted words: ``In punishment will ye find life, O men of insight!29 It would, however, ill beseem the justice of thy Majesty that for the trespass of a single soul a whole group of people should be subjected to the scourge of thy wrath. The one true God -- glorified be His Name! -- hath said: ``None shall bear the burden of another.30 It is clear and evident that in every community there have been, and will ever be, the learned and the ignorant, the wise and the heedless, the profligate and the pious. That a wise and reflecting soul should commit a heinous deed is most improbable, inasmuch as such a person either seeketh after this world or hath forsaken it: if he be of the latter, he would assuredly have no regard for aught else besides God, and moreover the fear of God would deter him from unlawful and reprehensible actions; and if he be of the former, he would just as assuredly avoid such deeds as would alienate and alarm the people, and act in such a manner as to earn their confidence and trust. It is therefore evident that reprehensible actions have always emanated, and will ever emanate, from ignorant and foolish souls. We implore God to guard His servants from turning to anyone save Him, and to draw them nigh unto His presence. His might, in truth, is equal to all things. 238 Praise be unto Thee, O Lord My God! Thou hearest the voice of My lamentation, and beholdest My condition, My distress and affliction! Thou knowest all that is in Me. If the call I have raised be wholly for Thy sake, then draw thereby the hearts of Thy creatures towards the heaven of Thy knowledge, and the heart of the Sovereign towards the right hand of the throne of Thy name, the All-Merciful. Supply him then, O My God, with a portion of that goodly sustenance which hath descended from the heaven of Thy generosity and the clouds of Thy mercy, that he may forsake his all and turn unto the court of Thy favour. Aid him, O My God, to assist Thy Cause and to exalt Thy Word amidst Thy creatures. Strengthen him, then, with the hosts of the seen and the unseen, that he may subdue every city in Thy Name, and hold sway, through Thy sovereignty and might, over all that dwell on earth, O Thou in Whose hand is the kingdom of creation! Thou, verily, art the Supreme Ordainer in both the beginning and the end. No God is there but Thee, the Most Powerful, the All-Glorious, the All-Wise. 239 So grossly hath Our Cause been misrepresented before thy royal presence that, if some unseemly act be committed by but one of this people, it is portrayed as being prompted by their beliefs. By Him besides Whom there is none other God! This Servant hath refused even to sanction the commission of reproved actions, how much less those which have been explicitly prohibited in the Book of God. 240 God hath forbidden unto men the drinking of wine, and this prohibition hath been revealed and recorded in His Book. In spite of this, and of the fact that the learned doctors of the age -- may God increase their numbers! -- have all prohibited the people from such a wretched act, there still remain some who commit it. The punishment which this act entaileth, however, applieth only to its heedless perpetrators, whilst those noble manifestations of supreme sanctity remain exalted above and exempt from all blame. Yea, the whole creation, both seen and unseen, beareth witness unto their holiness. 241 Yea, these servants regard the one true God as He Who ``doeth as He willeth31 and ``ordaineth as He pleaseth.32 Thus they view not as impossible the continued appearance in the contingent world of the Manifestations of His Unity. Should anyone hold otherwise, how would he be different from those who believe the hand of God to be ``chained up?33 And if the one true God -- glorified be His mention! -- be indeed regarded as unconstrained, then whatever Cause that Ancient King may please to manifest from the wellspring of His Command must be embraced by all. No refuge is there for anyone and no haven to hasten unto save God; no protection is there for any soul and no shelter to seek except in Him. 242 The essential requirement for whoso advanceth a claim is to support his assertions with clear proofs and testimonies. Beyond this, the rejection of the people, whether learned or ignorant, hath never been, nor shall it ever be, of any consequence. The Prophets of God, those Pearls of the ocean of Divine Unity and the Repositories of Divine Revelation, have ever been the object of men's repudiation and denial. Even as He saith: ``Each nation hath plotted darkly against their Messenger to lay violent hold on Him, and disputed with vain words to invalidate the truth.34 And again: ``No Messenger cometh unto them but they laugh Him to scorn.35 243 Consider the dispensation of Him Who is the Seal of the Prophets and the King of the Chosen Ones -- may the souls of all mankind be offered up for His sake! After the Daystar of Truth dawned above the horizon of Hijáz, how great were the cruelties which the exponents of error inflicted upon that incomparable Manifestation of the All-Glorious! Such was their heedlessness that they regarded every injury inflicted upon that sacred Being as ranking among the greatest of all acts, and constituting a means of attainment unto God, the Most High. For in the early years of His mission the divines of that age, both Christian and Jewish, turned away from that Daystar of the heaven of glory, whereupon all people, high and low alike, bestirred themselves to extinguish the light of that Luminary of the horizon of inner meanings. The names of all these divines have been mentioned in the books of old; among them are Wahb Ibn-i-Ráhib, Ka`b Ibn-i-Ashraf, `Abdu'lláh-i-Ubayy, and others of their like. 244 Finally, matters came to such a pass that these men took counsel together and conspired to shed His pure blood, even as God -- glorified be His mention! -- saith: ``And remember when the disbelievers schemed against Thee, that they might lay hold upon Thee, or slay Thee, or cast Thee out; and so they schemed, and God schemed, and God, verily, is the best of schemers.36 Again He saith: ``But if their opposition be grievous to Thee -- if Thou canst, seek out an opening into the earth or a ladder into heaven and bring to them a sign; yet if God wished, He could gather them unto true guidance; be Thou not, then, of the ignorant.37 By God! The hearts of His favoured ones are consumed at the purport of these two blessed verses. Such established and undisputed facts have been forgotten, and no one hath paused to reflect, in days past or in this day, upon the things that have prompted men to turn away from the Revealers of the light of God at the time of their manifestation. 245 Likewise, before the appearance of the Seal of the Prophets, consider Jesus, the Son of Mary. When that Manifestation of the All-Merciful revealed Himself, all the divines charged that Quintessence of faith with impiety and rebellion. Eventually, with the sanction of Annas, the most learned of the divines of His day, and Caiaphas, the high priest, His blessed person was made to suffer that which the pen is ashamed to mention and powerless to describe. The wide world in all its vastness could no longer contain Him, until at last God raised Him up unto heaven. 246 Were a detailed account of all the Prophets to be given here, We fear that it might lead to weariness. The doctors of the Torah in particular assert that no independent Prophet will come after Moses with a new Law. They maintain that a Scion of the House of David shall be made manifest Who will promulgate the Law of the Torah, and help establish and enforce its commandments throughout the East and the West. 247 The followers of the Gospel, likewise, hold as impossible that the Bearer of a new Revelation should again shine forth from the dayspring of the Will of God after Jesus, Son of Mary -- peace be upon Him! In support of this contention, they adduce the following verse from the Gospel: ``Heaven and earth shall pass away, but the words of the Son of Man shall never pass away.38 They maintain that neither the teachings nor the commandments of Jesus -- peace be upon Him! -- may ever be altered. 248 At one point in the Gospel, He saith: ``I go away, and come again.39 Again in the Gospel of John, He hath foretold the advent of a Comforter who shall come after Him.40 In the Gospel of Luke, moreover, a number of signs and portents have been mentioned. Certain divines of that Faith, however, have interpreted these utterances after their own fancy, and have thus failed to grasp their true significance. 249 O would that thou wouldst permit Me, O Sháh, to send unto thee that which would cheer the eyes, and tranquillize the souls, and persuade every fair-minded person that with Him is the knowledge of the Book. Certain persons, incapable of answering the objections raised by their opponents, claim that the Torah and the Gospel have been corrupted, whereas in reality the references to such corruption pertain only to specific cases.41 But for the repudiation of the foolish and the connivance of the divines, I would have uttered a discourse that would have thrilled and carried away the hearts unto a realm from the murmur of whose winds can be heard: ``No God is there but He! For the present, however, since the season is not ripe, the tongue of My utterance hath been stilled and the wine of exposition sealed up until such time as God, through the power of His might, shall please to unseal it. He, verily, is the Almighty, the Most Powerful. 250 Praise be unto Thee, O Lord My God! I ask Thee by Thy Name, through which Thou hast subdued all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth, to protect the lamp of Thy Cause within the globe of Thine omnipotence and Thy bountiful favour, lest it be exposed to the blasts of denial from those who remain heedless of the mysteries of Thy name, the Unconstrained. Increase, then, by the oil of Thy wisdom, the radiance of its light. Thou, verily, hast power over all the dwellers of Thine earth and of Thy heaven. 251 I implore Thee, O My Lord, by that most exalted Word which hath struck terror into the hearts of all who are in the heavens and on the earth, save only those who have taken fast hold of Thy Sure Handle, not to abandon Me amidst Thy creatures. Lift Me up, then, unto Thyself, cause Me to enter beneath the shadow of Thy mercy, and give Me to drink of the pure wine of Thy providence, that I may dwell within the tabernacle of Thy majesty and beneath the canopy of Thy favour. Potent art Thou to do what pleaseth Thee. Thou, verily, art the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting. 252 O King! The lamps of equity have been extinguished, and the fire of tyranny hath so blazed on every side that My people have been led as captives from Zawrá'{@@@} to Mosul, known as adbá'. This is not the first outrage that hath been suffered in the path of God. It behoveth every soul to consider and call to mind that which befell the kindred of the Prophet when the people took them captive and brought them unto Damascus, known as Fayhá'. Amongst them was the prince of them that worship God, the mainstay of such as have drawn nigh unto Him, and the sanctuary of those who long for His presence -- may the life of all else be a sacrifice unto him!42 253 They were asked: ``Are ye of the party of the Seceders?43 He replied: ``Nay, by the Lord Almighty. We are but servants who have believed in God and in His verses. Through us the countenance of faith hath beamed with joy. Through us the sign of the All-Merciful hath shone forth. At the mention of our names the desert of Bathá{¤¤¤} hath overflowed with water and the darkness separating earth and heaven hath been dispelled. 254 ``Have ye forbidden, they were asked, ``that which God hath made lawful, or allowed that which He hath forbidden? ``We were the first to follow the divine commandments, he answered. ``We are the root and origin of His Cause, the beginning of all good and its end. We are the sign of the Ancient of Days and the source of His remembrance amongst the nations. 255 They were asked: ``Have ye forsaken the Qur'án? ``In our House, he replied, ``did the All-Merciful reveal it. We are the breezes of the All-Glorious amidst His creation. We are the streams that have branched out from the Most Great Ocean, through which God hath revived the earth, and through which He shall revive it again after it hath died. Through us His signs have been diffused, His proofs revealed, and His tokens disclosed. With us is the knowledge of His hidden meanings and His untold mysteries. 256 ``For what crime have ye been punished? they were asked. ``For our love of God, he made reply, ``and for our detachment from aught else save Him. 257 We have not related his exact words -- peace be upon him! -- but rather have We imparted a sprinkling from that ocean of life eternal that lieth enshrined within them, that those who hearken thereunto may be quickened and made aware of what hath befallen the trusted ones of God at the hands of a lost and wayward generation. We see the people in this day censuring the oppressors of bygone ages, whilst they themselves commit yet greater wrongs and know it not! 258 God beareth Me witness that My purpose hath not been to foment sedition, but to purify His servants from whatsoever hath prevented them from drawing nigh unto Him, the Lord of the Day of Reckoning. I was asleep upon My couch, when lo, the breezes of My Lord, the All-Merciful, passed over Me, awoke Me from My slumber, and bade Me lift up My voice betwixt earth and heaven. This thing is not from Me, but from God. Unto this testify the dwellers of His Dominion and of His Kingdom, and the inhabitants of the cities of His unfading glory. By Him Who is the Truth! I fear no tribulation in His path, nor any affliction in My love for Him and in the way of His good pleasure. Verily God hath made adversity as a morning dew upon His green pasture, and a wick for His lamp which lighteth earth and heaven. 259 Shall a man's wealth endure forever, or protect him from the One Who shall, erelong, seize him by his forelock? Gazing upon those who sleep beneath the gravestones, embosomed in the dust, could one ever distinguish the sovereign's crumbling skull from the subject's mouldering bones? Nay, by Him Who is the King of kings! Could one discern the lord from the vassal, or those that enjoyed wealth and riches from those who possessed neither shoes nor mat? By God! Every distinction hath been erased, save only for those who upheld the right and who ruled with justice. 260 Whither are gone the learned men, the divines and potentates of old? What hath become of their discriminating views, their shrewd perceptions, their subtle insights and sage pronouncements? Where are their hidden coffers, their flaunted ornaments, their gilded couches, their rugs and cushions strewn about? Gone forever is their generation! All have perished, and, by God's decree, naught remaineth of them but scattered dust. Exhausted is the wealth they gathered, dispersed the stores they hoarded, dissipated the treasures they concealed. Naught can now be seen but their deserted haunts, their roofless dwellings, their uprooted tree-trunks, and their faded splendour. No man of insight will let wealth distract his gaze from his ultimate objective, and no man of understanding will allow riches to withhold him from turning unto Him Who is the All-Possessing, the Most High. 261 Where is he who held dominion over all whereon the sun shineth, who lived extravagantly on earth, seeking out the luxuries of the world and of all that hath been created upon it? Where is the commander of the swarthy legion and the upraiser of the golden standard? Where is the ruler of Zawrá', and where the tyrant of Fayhá'?44 Where are those before whose munificence the treasure-houses of the earth shrank in shame, and at whose largesse and swelling spirit the very ocean was abashed? Where is he who stretched forth his arm in rebellion, and who turned his hand against the All-Merciful? 262 Where are they who went in quest of earthly pleasures and the fruits of carnal desires? Whither are fled their fair and comely women? Where are their swaying branches, their spreading boughs, their lofty mansions, their trellised gardens? And what of the delights of these gardens -- their exquisite grounds and gentle breezes, their purling streams, their soughing winds, their cooing doves and rustling leaves? Where now are their resplendent morns and their brightsome countenances wreathed in smiles? Alas for them! All have perished and are gone to rest beneath a canopy of dust. Of them one heareth neither name nor mention; none knoweth of their affairs, and naught remaineth of their signs. 263 What! Will the people dispute then that whereof they themselves stand witness? Will they deny that which they know to be true? I know not in what wilderness they roam! Do they not see that they are embarked upon a journey from which there is no return? How long will they wander from mountain to valley, from hollow to hill? ``Hath not the time come for those who believe to humble their hearts at the mention of God?45 Blessed is he who hath said, or now shall say, ``Yea, by my Lord! The time is come and the hour hath struck!, and who, thereafter, shall detach himself from all that hath been, and deliver himself up entirely unto Him Who is the Possessor of the universe and the Lord of all creation. 264 And yet, what hope! For naught is reaped save that which hath been sown, and naught is taken up save that which hath been laid down,46 unless it be through the grace and bestowal of the Lord. Hath the womb of the world yet conceived one whom the veils of glory shall not hinder from ascending unto the Kingdom of his Lord, the All-Glorious, the Most High? Is it yet within us to perform such deeds as will dispel our afflictions and draw us nigh unto Him Who is the Causer of causes? We beseech God to deal with us according to His bounty, and not His justice, and to grant that we may be of those who have turned their faces unto their Lord and severed themselves from all else. 265 I have seen, O Sháh, in the path of God what eye hath not seen nor ear heard. Mine acquaintances have repudiated Me, and My pathways have been straitened. The fount of well-being hath run dry, and the bower of ease hath withered. How numerous the tribulations which have rained, and will soon rain, upon Me! I advance with My face set towards Him Who is the Almighty, the All-Bounteous, whilst behind Me glideth the serpent. Mine eyes have rained down tears until My bed is drenched. 266 I sorrow not for Myself, however. By God! Mine head yearneth for the spear out of love for its Lord. I never passed a tree, but Mine heart addressed it saying: ``O would that thou wert cut down in My name, and My body crucified upon thee, in the path of My Lord!, for I see the people wandering distraught and unconscious in their drunken stupor. They have raised on high their passions and set down their God. Methinks they have taken His Cause for a mockery and regard it as a play and pastime, believing all the while that they do well, and that they dwell securely in the citadel of safety. Howbeit the matter is not as they fondly imagine: tomorrow shall they behold that which today they are wont to deny! 267 Erelong shall the exponents of wealth and power banish Us from the land of Adrianople to the city of `Akká. According to what they say, it is the most desolate of the cities of the world, the most unsightly of them in appearance, the most detestable in climate, and the foulest in water. It is as though it were the metropolis of the owl, within whose precincts naught can be heard save the echo of its cry. Therein have they resolved to imprison this Youth, to shut against our faces the doors of ease and comfort, and to deprive us of every worldly benefit throughout the remainder of our days. 268 By God! Though weariness lay Me low, and hunger consume Me, and the bare rock be My bed, and My fellows the beasts of the field, I will not complain, but will endure patiently as those endued with constancy and firmness have endured patiently, through the power of God, the Eternal King and Creator of the nations, and will render thanks unto God under all conditions. We pray that, out of His bounty -- exalted be He -- He may release, through this imprisonment, the necks of men from chains and fetters, and cause them to turn, with sincere faces, towards His face, Who is the Mighty, the Bounteous. Ready is He to answer whosoever calleth upon Him, and nigh is He unto such as commune with Him. We further beseech Him to make of this darksome tribulation a shield for the Temple of His Cause, and to protect it from the assault of sharpened swords and pointed daggers. Adversity hath ever given rise to the exaltation of His Cause and the glorification of His Name. Such hath been God's method carried into effect in centuries and ages past. That which the people now fail to apprehend they shall erelong discover, on that day when their steeds shall stumble and their finery be folded up, their blades blunted and their feet made to falter. 269 I know not how long they shall spur on the charger of self and passion and rove in the wilderness of error and negligence! Shall either the pomp of the mighty or the wretchedness of the abased endure? Shall he who reposeth upon the loftiest seat of honour, who hath attained the pinnacle of might and glory, abide forever? Nay, by My Lord, the All-Merciful! All on earth shall pass away, and there remaineth alone the face of My Lord, the All-Glorious, the Most-Bountiful.47 270 What armour hath not been pierced by the arrow of destruction, and what regal brow not divested by the hand of Fate? What fortress hath withstood the approach of the Messenger of Death? What throne hath not been shattered to pieces, what palace not reduced to rubble? Could the people but taste that choice Wine of the mercy of their Lord, the Almighty, the All-Knowing, which lieth in store for them in the world beyond, they would assuredly cease their censure, and seek only to win the good pleasure of this Youth. For now, however, they have hidden Me behind a veil of darkness, whose fabric they have woven with the hands of idle fancy and vain imagination. Erelong shall the snow-white hand of God rend an opening through the darkness of this night and unlock a mighty portal unto His City. On that Day shall the people enter therein by troops, uttering what the blamers aforetime exclaimed,48 that there shall be made manifest in the end that which appeared in the beginning. 271 Is it their wish to tarry here when already they have one foot in the stirrup? Look they to return, once they are gone? Nay, by Him Who is the Lord of Lords! save on the Day of Judgement, the Day whereon the people shall arise from their graves and be asked of their legacy. Well is it with him who shall not be weighted down with his burdens on that Day, the Day whereon the mountains shall pass away and all shall gather to be questioned in the presence of God, the Most Exalted. Stern, indeed, is He in punishing! 272 We beseech God to purge the hearts of certain divines from rancour and enmity, that they may look upon matters with an eye unbeclouded by contempt. May He raise them up unto so lofty a station that neither the attractions of the world, nor the allurements of authority, may deflect them from gazing upon the Supreme Horizon, and that neither worldly benefits nor carnal desires shall prevent them from attaining that Day whereon the mountains shall be reduced to dust. Though they now rejoice in the adversity that hath befallen Us, soon shall come a day whereon they shall lament and weep. By My Lord! Were I given the choice between, on the one hand, the wealth and opulence, the ease and comfort, the honour and glory which they enjoy, and, on the other, the adversities and trials which are Mine, I would unhesitatingly choose My present condition and would refuse to barter a single atom of these hardships for all that hath been created in the world of being. 273 But for the tribulations that have touched Me in the path of God, life would have held no sweetness for Me, and Mine existence would have profited Me nothing. For them who are endued with discernment, and whose eyes are fixed upon the Sublime Vision, it is no secret that I have been, most of the days of My life, even as a slave, sitting under a sword hanging on a thread, knowing not whether it would fall soon or late upon him. And yet, notwithstanding all this We render thanks unto God, the Lord of the worlds, and yield Him praise at all times and under all conditions. He, verily, standeth witness over all things. 274 We beseech God to extend wide His shadow, that the true believers may hasten thereunto and that His sincere lovers may seek shelter therein. May He bestow upon men blossoms from the bowers of His grace and stars from the horizon of His providence. We pray God, moreover, to graciously aid the King to do His will and pleasure, and to confirm him in that which shall draw him nigh unto the Dayspring of God's most excellent names, so that he may not give countenance to the injustice he witnesseth, may look upon his subjects with the eye of loving-kindness, and shield them from oppression. We further beseech God, exalted be He, to gather all mankind around the Gulf of the Most Great Ocean, an ocean every drop of which proclaimeth that He is the Harbinger of joy unto the world and the Quickener of all its peoples. Praise be to God, the Lord of the Day of Reckoning! 275 And finally We beseech God, exalted be His glory, to enable thee to aid His Faith and turn towards His justice, that thou mayest judge between the people even as thou wouldst judge between thine own kindred, and mayest choose for them that which thou choosest for thine own self. But the goodness of deeds is conditional upon the royal nature itself looking at it with a glance of justice and favor, and not regarding the entreaties of some as insignificant and not considering them sufficient proof. We ask Allah to support the Sultan in what he wants, and what he wants must be the desire of the worlds. After this, they summoned this servant to Istanbul. We entered that city with a group of the poor, and after entering, we never met with anyone since we had no request, and there was no purpose except to prove to all that this servant did not have corrupt thoughts and never consorted with corrupt people. He who gave speech to the tongue of everything, looking at the consideration of some ranks of attention in some difficult aspects, has been difficult. But to preserve the souls, these matters have occurred. My Lord knows what is in my soul, and He is a witness to what I say.
A just ruler is the shadow of Allah on earth. All must find refuge in the shadow of his justice and rest in the shade of his grace. This position is not specific or limited so that it becomes exclusive to some rather than others; the shadow speaks of the one who casts it. Allah, may His mention be exalted, has called Himself the Lord of the worlds, for He nurtures all and says, "Exalted is His grace that precedes possibilities and His mercy that precedes the worlds." It is quite clear that right or wrong, according to the claim of the people of this sect, is something they know to be true and have accepted. Therefore, they have passed by us in seeking what is with Allah, and this passing by the soul in the path of love for the Merciful is true testimony and evidence speaking of what they also claim. Has it ever been observed that a sane person would pass away without reason or evidence from his soul? And if it is said that these people are mad, this is quite unlikely, for it is not confined to one breath or two breaths. Rather, a large group of various kinds has become intoxicated from the fountain of divine knowledge and hastened with soul and heart to sacrifice in the path of the beloved. If these souls, who have passed away from us for Allah and have sacrificed their lives and property in His way, are denied, by what argument and evidence will the truth of others' words against us also be established in the presence of the Sultan? The late Hajj Sayyid Muhammad, may Allah elevate his station and immerse him in the abyss of His mercy and forgiveness, although he was among the scholars of his age, most God-fearing and ascetic of his time, his dignity was to a degree that every tongue was articulate in his mention and praise. In the war against Russia, even though he himself had issued a fatwa for jihad and had paid attention to his homeland's prominent support for religion with manifest knowledge, he nevertheless passed over much good with little severity and withdrew. If only the veil would be lifted, and what is concealed from sight would appear! This sect has been passing for over twenty years, tormented in days and nights under the dominance of the imperial wrath, each one having fallen into a homeland due to the gusts of the storms of the sultan's anger. How many children are left fatherless, how many fathers have become sonless, how many mothers have not dared to lament over their slain children from fear and dread, and many of the servants who were in the evening in the utmost wealth and prosperity, have been observed in the morning in the extreme poverty and humiliation? There is no land but has been tinged with their blood, and no air but has ascended their sighs. In these few years, calamities' arrows have been shot non-stop from the clouds of destiny, and with all these decrees and tribulations, the fire of divine love in their hearts is inflamed to a degree that if they are all cut piece by piece, they would not pass from the love of the Beloved of the worlds, but with soul they are eager and hopeful for whatever happens in the path of Allah. O Sultan, may the breezes of the mercy of the Compassionate have turned these servants and drawn them to Unity. May the witness of a sincere lover be hidden in his sleeve, but some of the outward scholars have clouded the luminous heart of the king of the time against the intimates of the sanctuary of the Compassionate and the seekers of the Kaaba of Gnosis. If only the judgment of the king who judges the world was set to have this servant gather with the scholars of the age and present his arguments and proofs in the presence of His Majesty, the Sultan. This servant is ready and hopeful from truth that such a gathering comes together, so that the truth of the matter becomes clear and apparent in the presence of the Sultan, and thereafter the matter is in your hands, and I am present before the throne of your sovereignty, so command either for or against me. God, the Merciful, in the Furqan, which is the remaining argument among the universes, says, "So wish for death if you are truthful." He has proclaimed the wish for death as the proof of truthfulness, and it is known in the luminous mirror of the enlightened conscience which group today has passed from life in the way of the God of all worlds. And if the books of this people's arguments in proving us were marked with "and they have shed their blood in His way," countless books would have been apparent and visible among creation. Now, how can this people, whose words and deeds are consistent, be denied, and how can souls be confirmed that have not passed, and do not pass, from a bit of credibility in the way of the Chosen One? Some of the scholars who have declared this servant an unbeliever have never met, have never seen this servant, have not become aware of the purpose, and yet they say, "They wish and they do what they want." Every claim needs proof, not just words and the appearances of asceticism. A few paragraphs from the concealed writings of Fatimah, peace be upon her, which are suitable for this station, are spoken in the Persian language, so that some of the hidden matters may be uncovered in the royal court, and the addressees of these statements in the mentioned writings, which are famous for concealed words today, are a people who are famous for knowledge and piety on the outside but obey their desires and lusts inwardly. He says, "O traitors, why do you claim to be shepherds in appearance, but have become wolves of my sheep inwardly? You are like the star before dawn that appears bright and shining but inwardly leads to the misguidance and destruction of my caravans. He also says, "O outwardly adorned and inwardly lacking, your likeness is like clear bitter water that may appear perfectly delicate and pure, but when it falls into the hands of the taster of unity, he will not accept a drop of it." The manifestation of the sun is in both soil and mirror, but know the difference from the thunderbolt to the earth, rather an endless difference in between. And he also says, "O son of the world, many a dawn the radiance of my grace came from the non-place to your place, found you unoccupied in the bed of comfort, and when the spiritual lightning returned to the place of honor and glory, I did not declare it in the places of nearness to the holy soldiers, I did not like your shame, and likewise says, "O claimant of love for me, in the early mornings, the breeze of my grace passed over you and found you asleep on the bed of negligence, cried for your state, and returned. The end." Therefore, in the court of the Sovereign's justice, one should not be content with the claim of the claimant, and in the Furqan, which distinguishes between truth and falsehood, it says, "O you who have believed, if a wicked person brings you news, ascertain the truth, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become over what you have done, regretful." In the noble hadith, it is stated, "Do not believe the talebearer." Some scholars have become confused about the matter, and they have not seen this servant. The souls that have met him bear witness that this servant has not spoken anything other than the decree of Allah in the Book, and with this blessed verse in mind, he says, "Do you resent us except that we have believed in Allah, and what has been revealed to us and what was revealed before?" O King of the Age, direct the eyes of these wanderers towards the mercy of the Merciful and regard these afflictions as a greater mercy and these great adversities as a great relief. But hope is such that His Majesty the Sultan will himself pay attention to the affairs so that it becomes a cause for the contentment of hearts. This pure good has been mentioned, and God is sufficient as a witness. Glory be to You, O God, my God! I bear witness that the heart of the Sultan has been between the fingers of Your power. If You will, turn his heart, O my God, towards mercy and benevolence. Verily, You are the Exalted, the Powerful, the Bestower. There is no god but You, the Mighty, the Helper. Regarding the scholars, it is stated, "But whoever of the scholars guards himself, preserves his religion, opposes his passions, and obeys his Lord's command, it is obligatory for the common people to follow him." If the King of the Age were to look at this statement, which has come from the tongue of the Manifestation of God's Revelation, he would observe that those possessing these qualities mentioned in the noble hadith are rarer than red sulfur. Therefore, anyone who claims knowledge should not be heeded, and likewise, it is stated about the scholars of the last age, "The scholars of that time are the most evil scholars under the shade of heaven; from them, temptation emerges, and to them, it returns." It also says, "When the standard of truth appears, the people of the East and the West curse it." If someone denies these hadiths, their proof is upon this servant. Since the purpose is to be concise, the details of the narrators are not presented. Those scholars who have truly partaken from the cup of detachment have never targeted this servant, such as the late Sheikh Morteza, may Allah elevate his station, and may he reside in the shadow of the dome of His grace. During his stay in Iraq, he expressed affection and did not speak on this matter without the permission of Allah. We ask Allah to guide everyone to what He loves and is pleased with. The condition of all souls is hidden from all affairs, and they are focused on the suffering of this sect, as if they are asked of some who have taken refuge in the shadow of the Sultan's mercy after the grace of God and have been blessed with infinite blessings. What service have you expressed in return for the Sultan's bounty? Have you added to the kingdom's welfare by good governance over the realms, or have you paid attention to something that will bring comfort to the subjects and prosperity to the kingdom, and perpetuate the good name of the government? They have no answer except that they present some, either truthfully or falsely, in the name of the Bab, in the presence of the Sultan, and then engage in killing and plunder. Such was done in Tabriz and Mansuriyya in Egypt, where they sold some and took many ornaments, and never presented this matter to the Sultan's presence. All these affairs are overlooked, finding these poor ones without support, and have passed through serious matters, and have dealt with these poor ones. Various sects and different nations are at ease under the Sultan's shadow. This community should be the same; rather, the nobility and elevation of the nature of the Sultan's servants must be observed to be in the management that all religions come under the Sultan's shadow, and they all govern with justice. The execution of the bounds of Allah is pure justice, and everyone is content with it; indeed, the divine limits are the cause and reason for the preservation of creatures, and have been and will be so, by His saying, "And there is for you in legal retribution life, O you [people] of understanding." It is far from the justice of the Sultan that some souls should be subject to the wrath of his anger by mistake. The truth, may His name be exalted, says, "No bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another." And it is well known that in every sect, there are the learned and ignorant, wise and foolish, sinful and pious, and the commission of heinous deeds is far from the wise, whether the wise is a seeker of this world or an abandoner of it. If he abandons it, he certainly does not pay attention to other than the truth, and apart from this, the fear of Allah prevents him from committing the forbidden, reprehensible deeds. If he is a seeker of the world, he certainly does not commit things that are the cause of people's aversion and terror in the lands; rather, he acts in ways that cause people's inclination, so it is proved that the rejected deeds have been and will be from the ignorant souls. We ask Allah to preserve His servants from paying attention to other than Him and bring them closer to Him. Indeed, He is capable of everything. Glory be to You, O Allah, my God! You hear my lament, see my condition, my distress, and my trials, and You know what is in my soul. If my call is purely for Your face, then draw the hearts of Your creatures to the horizon of the sky of Your recognition, and turn the heart of the Sultan to the right of the throne of Your name, the Most Merciful. Then grant him, O my God, the blessing that has descended from the sky of Your generosity and the clouds of Your mercy, so that he may cut off what is with him and turn to the shore of Your kindness. O Lord, strengthen him to support Your Cause and to exalt Your word among Your creatures. Then assist him with the hosts of the unseen and the witnessed, that he may subdue the cities in Your Name and rule over all on earth by Your power and sovereignty. O You in Whose hand is the dominion of all creation! Indeed, You are the Ruler in the beginning and the return. There is no god but You, the Mighty, the Powerful, the Wise. They have confused my case before the royal presence, imagining that if a shameful act is committed by someone of this community, it is ascribed to the religion of these servants. But by God, besides Whom there is no other god, this servant has never deemed the commission of foul deeds permissible, much less what has been explicitly forbidden in the divine Book. God has prohibited people from drinking wine, and its prohibition has been revealed and recorded in the divine Book. The scholars of the age, may God increase their like, have likewise forbidden people from this vile act, yet some still commit it. The punishment for this act falls upon heedless souls, and all existence, both unseen and witnessed, bears witness to the sanctity of those holy and blessed manifestations. Indeed, these servants know that God does what He wills and decrees what He desires. They do not consider the manifestations of divine Oneness impossible in the realm of dominion, and if a soul deems it impossible, what difference is there between him and those who considered God's hand to be tied? And if they regard God, exalted be His mention, as free to choose, they must accept every command that emanates from the source of His decree, without escape or refuge. There is no sanctuary or shelter except in Him. The matter that requires presenting evidence and proof of a claim is not contingent upon the opinions of people, whether knowledgeable or ignorant, and it never has been and never will be. Prophets, who are the loyal to the ocean of divine unity and the descent places of divine revelation, have become the subjects of people's denial and opposition, as it says, "And if the entire nation's aspiration was toward their messenger to take him, and they argue with falsehood to defeat the truth with it." And likewise, it says, "There came not to them a messenger but they did mock him." Consider in the appearance of the Seal of the Prophets and the Sultan of the Chosen, the soul of the worlds sacrificed, after the sunrise of the truth from the horizon of Hijaz, how much oppression from the people of misguidance befell that manifestation of grandeur and glory. They were so neglectful of their servitude that they considered afflicting that presence among the greatest deeds and a means of attaining the Supreme Truth. Even the scholars of that era, in the early years, from the Jews and Christians, turned away from that highest horizon sun and with their turning away, all people, lowly and noble, put on the belt to extinguish the light of that bright horizon. The names of all are mentioned in the books, including Wahb bin Rahib, Ka'b bin Ashraf, Abdullah Abi, and the likes of those souls, until the matter reached a point where they arranged a council to shed the pure blood of that presence, as the Truth, may His mention be glorious, has informed, "And when those who disbelieve plot against you to wound you fatally or to kill you or to drive you out, they plot, but Allah also plots, and Allah is the best of plotters." And likewise, it says, "And if their turning away is grievous to you, then, if you can, seek a hole in the ground or a ladder to the sky so that you may bring them a sign. And if Allah had willed, He would have gathered them unto guidance, so be not one of the ignorant." By Allah, the content of these two blessed verses sets the hearts of those near to God on fire, and the likes of these matters are gone from the sight of the true and they never contemplate or show that the cause of the people's turning away during the appearance of the study of divine lights was what, and likewise before the Seal of the Prophets, consider in Jesus son of Mary, after the appearance of that manifestation of the Compassionate, all the scholars of that simple faith attributed faith to disbelief and rebellion until finally, with the permission of Hinnas, who was the greatest scholar of that era, and also Qayyafa, who was the judge of judges, they inflicted on that presence what the pen is shy and incapable of mentioning. The earth, vast as it is, became narrow until Allah raised him to the sky. And if a detailed account of all the Prophets were to be given, there is fear of fatigue being induced, and it is specific to the scholars of the Torah that after Moses, an independent prophet and a possessor of the law, no one from the descendants of David will appear, and he will be the promoter of the law of the Torah so that with his help, the command of the Torah may be prevalent and effective between the people of the East and the West. And likewise, the people of the Gospel have deemed it impossible that after Jesus son of Mary, the possessor of a new divine command will appear from the East, and they have proven this with this verse that is in the Gospel, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but the words of the Son of Man shall never pass away," and they insist that what Jesus son of Mary has commanded and ordered will never change. In one station of the Gospel, it says, "I am going, and I will come." And in the Gospel of John, the comforter is prophesied to come after me, and in the Gospel of Luke, some signs are mentioned. However, when some scholars of that nation interpreted every statement according to their own desires, they remained veiled from the intended meaning. If only you had given me permission, O Sultan, to send to Your Presence what delights the eyes and reassures the souls, and every just person would be certain that he has knowledge of the Book. Some people, when they are unable to answer an opponent, cling to the rope of distorting books, even though the mention of distortion was in specific places. Were it not for the turning away of the ignorant and the blindness of the scholars, I would have spoken a word that would have gladdened the hearts and flown to the air, which hears from its rustling wind that there is no god but He. But now, due to the unfitness of the time, I have withheld my tongue from speaking and sealed the vessel of explanation until God opens it by His power. Indeed, He is the One with Power, the Able. Glory be to You, O my God! I ask You by Your Name, by which You have subjugated those in the heavens and the earth, to preserve the lamp of Your command within the glass of Your power and Your kindness so that the winds of denial from the direction of those who are heedless of the secrets of Your chosen Name do not pass over it. Then increase its light with the oil of Your wisdom. Indeed, You are the One with Power over all that is in Your earth and Your heavens. O Lord! I ask You by the Supreme Word, by which those in the earth and the heavens were terrified except those who cling to the firm handle, not to leave me among Your creation but to raise me to You, to enter me into the shades of Your mercy, and to make me drink the pure wine of Your favor so that I may dwell in the hidden places of Your glory and under the domes of Your kindness. Indeed, You are the One with Power over whatever You will, and You are the All-Controlling, the Sustainer. O Sultan! The lamps of justice have been extinguished, and the fire of injustice has flared up in all directions until they have made my family prisoners from the wronged ones of Zawra to the hunchbacked ones of Mosul. This is not the first sacrilege committed in the path of God. Every soul should look and remember what befell the family of the Messenger when the people made them prisoners and brought them into the hollows of Damascus. Among them was the master of those who prostrate, the support of the near ones, and the Kaaba of the longing ones, a soul to whom all besides Him are sacrificed. It was said to them, "Are you the dissenters?" They said, "No, by God! We are servants who have believed in God and His signs. With us, the mouth of faith was opened, and the sign of the Merciful shone forth. With our mention, the stagnant waters flowed, and the darkness that was between the earth and the heavens dissipated." They were asked, "Have you forbidden what God has made lawful, or made lawful what God has forbidden?" They said, "We are the first to follow the commands of God, and we are the root of the command and its beginning, and the first of all good and its end. We are the sign of eternity and its mention among the nations." They were asked, "Have you abandoned the Quran?" They said, "The Compassionate revealed it in us, and we are the breezes of the Glorious among the worlds, and we are the channels that branched from the great sea by which God revived the earth and will revive it after its death. From us, His signs spread, His clear proofs appeared, His traces emerged, and with us are its meanings and secrets." They were asked, "For what crime have you been filled?" They said, "For the love of God and our detachment from all else. We have not mentioned his speech, peace be upon him, but sprinkled a drop from the living sea which was deposited in his words, to revive those who approach, and to make them aware of what befell the confidants of God from the wicked losers. Today, we see them obstructing the people against those who wronged them before, and they are doing greater wrong than those who wronged them, and they do not know. By God, I did not intend corruption, but rather the purification of the servants from all that prevents them from drawing near to God, the Owner of the Day of Calling." "I was sleeping on my bed when the breezes of my Lord the Merciful passed over me and woke me from sleep, and commanded me to call between the earth and the heavens. This was not from me, but from Him, and the inhabitants of His celestial realm and His dominion, and the people of His majestic cities, bear witness to this. By the truth of His soul, I am not afraid of the calamities in His path, nor of the misfortunes in His love and pleasure. God has made calamity food for this green ecstasy, and a moth for His lamp by which the earth and heavens were illuminated. Will anyone's wealth remain with him tomorrow or make him rich before the Owner of his forelock? If anyone looks at those who have slept under the dirt and dwell with the worms, can he distinguish the skulls of the owner from the skulls of the owned? No, by the Lord of kings, and does he know the rulers from the shepherds or distinguish the ones with wealth and riches from the one who was without shoes and covering? By God, the difference has been raised except for the one who fulfills the truth and judges with truth. Where are the scholars, the virtuous, the princes? Where is the acuity of their vision, the sharpness of their sight, the refinement of their thoughts, the integrity of their remembrances? Where are their hidden treasures, their seen ornaments, their composed joys, and their laid out carpets? Alas, all has become dust, and God's decree has made them scattered dust. What they hoarded has been wasted, what they gathered has been dispersed, what they concealed has been dissipated. They have become nothing but their empty places, their vacant ceilings, their concave trunks, and their worn-out stalks." "Indeed, the perceptive is not distracted by wealth from looking towards the ultimate goal, and the expert is not held back by riches from turning to the transcendent richness. Where is the one who ruled over all that the sun shone upon, and who was excessive and extravagant in this world and all that was created in it? Where is the owner of the dark battalion and the yellow banner? Where is the one who ruled in the desert, and where is the one who oppressed in the fertile land? Where are those whose generosity made treasures tremble, and whose generosity made the sea contract? Where is the one whose arm reached out in disobedience, and whose arm was averted from the Merciful? Where is the one who used to pick pleasures and harvest the fruits of desires? Where are the mistresses of perfection and possessors of beauty? Where are their swaying branches, their towering palms, their lofty palaces, their covered gardens, and where is the fineness of their soil, the delicacy of their breeze, the babble of their water, the rustling of their winds, the roar of their leaves, the whispering of their trees? Where are their enchanting evenings, their smiling dawn? Woe to them! They have descended to the lowest point, and they have become neighbors to the abyss; today no mention of them is heard, nor focus, nor any knowledge of their matter or symbol. They deny, and they witness; they disbelieve, and they know; I did not know in which valley they wander. Do they not see that they are going away and not returning? How long will they change and howl, descend and ascend? Has not the time come for those who believe for their hearts to be humbled by the remembrance of God? Blessed is the one who said and says: 'Yes, my Lord, the time has come,' and cuts himself off from what was to the Owner of the worlds and the King of places. It is futile; one reaps only what he has sown and takes only what he has laid down, except by the grace of God and His generosity. Has the earth carried that which does not prevent the adornments of majesty from ascending to the kingdom of his mighty, transcendent Lord? And do we have any deeds that remove ailments and bring us closer to the Owner of ailments? We ask God to treat us with His grace, not His justice, and to make us among those who turn to Him and sever all else but Him. O King, I have seen in the path of God what no eye has seen and no ear has heard. The knowledgeable have denied me, and the openings have become narrow for me. The bubbling of safety has dried up, and the bubbling of comfort has turned yellow. How many calamities have descended, and how many will yet descend? I walk facing towards the Mighty, the Giver, and behind me, love flows. How sweet is the bitterness of sorrow, and how bitter is the sweetness of joy!" My eyes have begun to shed tears until my resting place is soaked, and my grief is not for myself. By God, my head longs for spears in love for its Lord, and whenever I pass by a tree, my heart addresses it, "I wish I were cut down for my name's sake and crucified upon you in my Lord's path." What I see of people in their intoxication, wandering aimlessly, not knowing, they have raised their whims and set down their idols, as if they have taken the matter of God in jest, play, and amusement, and they think that they are doing well and in the fortress of security, they are fortified. The matter is not as they suppose; tomorrow they will see what they deny. So, they will take us out, the rulers and the rich, from this land called Bádrinah, to the city of Acre, and from what they tell, it is the most desolate of the world's cities and ugliest in appearance, worst in air, and foulest in water, as if it were the dwelling of the echo, where nothing is heard but the sound of its reverberation. They want to imprison the youth in it and shut the doors of comfort upon our faces and withhold the pleasures of worldly life from us for the remaining days of our lives. By God, if the stupidity overwhelms me and the folly destroys me, and my bed is made of deaf rock, and my companions are the beasts of the wilderness, I will not grieve and will be patient as the people of resolution and the companions of determination have been patient, by the power of God, the Owner of antiquity, the Creator of the nations, and I thank God for all conditions. We hope from His generosity, exalted is He, that with this imprisonment He will free the necks from chains and shackles, and make the faces pure for His exalted and bountiful countenance. Indeed, He answers those who call Him, and is near to those who supplicate Him. We ask Him to make this darkest calamity a shield for the structure of His Cause, with which He protects it from sharpened swords and penetrating lances. His Cause has always been exalted by calamity, and His remembrance has been glorified. This is a precedent in past generations and ages gone by. The people will come to know what they do not comprehend today when their steeds stumble, their cradles fold, their swords break, and their feet slip. I do not know until when they will ride the mount of desire and wander in the wilderness of heedlessness and misguidance. Will there remain any honor for the honorable or disgrace for the disgraced? Or will there remain one who leaned on the highest cushion and reached the utmost limit of glory? No, by my merciful Lord, all upon it will perish, and the face of my Lord, the Mighty, the Munificent, will remain. What shield was not pierced by the arrow of fate? What flood was not laid bare by the hand of destiny? What fortress has kept out the messenger of death when he came? What bed was not broken, what reservoir was not emptied? If people knew what lies beyond the seal from the nectar of the mercy of their Mighty, All-Knowing Lord, they would cast aside blame and be content with the youth. But now, they have veiled me with a veil of darkness, which they wove with the hands of suspicions and illusions. The hand of the White will cut a pocket for this dark night, and God will open a door crowned to His city, then people will enter it in droves and will say what the blamers said before, to reveal in the ends what appeared in the beginnings. They want to reside, and their leg in the journey, do they see for their departure any return? No, by the Lord of Lords, except in the destination, on that day people will rise from their graves and will be asked about the inheritance. Blessed is the one who is not burdened by weight on that day when the mountains pass, and all will be present for questioning in the presence of the exalted God, for He is severe in punishment. We ask God to sanctify the hearts of some scholars from malice and hatred, to look at things with an eye not overcome by darkness, and to elevate them to a status that does not turn them away from looking at the highest horizon, and not to distract them with livelihood and the causes of comfort from the day when the mountains will be like wool, and even if they rejoice in the calamities that have befallen us, a day will come when they will wail and weep. By my Lord, if I were given the choice between what they have of honor, wealth, fortune, elevation, comfort, and affluence, and what I am in today of hardship and calamity, I would choose what I am in today and now. I would not exchange an atom of these afflictions for what was created in the dominion of creation. If it were not for affliction in the way of God, my remaining would not have humiliated me, and my life would not have benefited me, and it is not hidden from those with insight and those looking at the greater view that in most of my days I was like a servant who sits under a sword hung by a single hair, not knowing whether it will fall on him instantly or after a while, and in all that, we thank God, the Lord of the worlds, and praise Him in all circumstances, for He is a witness to everything. We ask God to extend His shade so that the Unitarians will hurry to it, and the sincere will seek refuge in it, and that He grants the servants some blossoms from the garden of His grace, and some flowers from the horizon of His kindness, and supports him in what He loves and is pleased with, and brings him success in what brings him closer to the appearance of His beautiful names, so that he may lower his gaze from what he sees of injustice, and look at the subjects with an eye of kindness, and protect them from transgression. We ask Him, the Exalted, to gather everyone on the bay of the greatest sea, every drop of which calls out that He is the bringer of good news to the worlds and the reviver of the worlds, and praise be to God, the owner of the Day of Judgment. We ask Him, the Exalted, to make you a supporter of His command and an observer of His justice, so that you may judge the servants as you judge your relatives and choose for them what you choose for yourself. Indeed, He is the Capable, the Exalted, the Guardian, the Sustainer. (edit) |
56 | کذلک عمرنا الهيکل بايادى القدرة و الاقتدار ان انتم تعلمون هذا لهيکل الّذى وعدتم به فى الکتاب تقرّبوا اليه هذا خير لکم ان انتم تفقهون. ان انصفوا يا ملأ الارض هذا خير ام الهيکل الّذى بنى من الطّين توجّهوا اليه کذلک امرتم من لدى اللّه المهيمن القيّوم ان اتّبعوا الامر ثمّ احمدوا اللّه ربّکم فيما انعم عليکم انّه لهو الحقّ لا اله الّاّ هو يظهر ما يشاء بقوله کن فيکون. Thus have We built the Temple with the hands of power and might, could ye but know it. This is the Temple promised unto you in the Book. Draw ye nigh unto it. This is that which profiteth you, could ye but comprehend it. Be fair, O peoples of the earth! Which is preferable, this, or a temple which is built of clay? Set your faces towards it. Thus have ye been commanded by God, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting. Follow ye His bidding, and praise ye God, your Lord, for that which He hath bestowed upon you. He, verily, is the Truth. No God is there but He. He revealeth what He pleaseth, through His words ``Be and it is. (edit) |
Thus, We built the Temple with the hands of power and might. If you know this, this is the Temple you have promised in the Book, draw near to it; this is better for you if you understand. Be just, O people of the Earth, is this better or the Temple that is built of clay? Turn to it, so you were commanded from God, the Guardian, the Sustainer. Follow the command, then praise your Lord God in what He has bestowed upon you. Indeed, He is the Truth, there is no god but He, He reveals what He wills by saying "Be," and it is. (edit) |
