Also in the interpretation of the [letter] "Ha" they expressed their desire for martyrdom: 'It is as though I heard a crier cry within my secret, 'Sacrifice the dearest of things to you in the path of God, just as Husayn (peace be upon him) sacrificed in My path.' And if it were not that I am looking at that impending secret, by the One in whose hand is my soul, even if all the kings of the earth were to gather, they could not take from me a single letter, so what of the servants who have no concern with this, and indeed they are rejected.'...until he said, 'So that everyone may know my position of patience, satisfaction, and sacrifice in the path of God.'"
