The children of Israel had turned away and were in the utmost abasement.... However, this blessed statement concerns the believing Israelites, meaning those who were steadfast. Others, by listening to them, become honored and, through association, also gain honor and advancement, provided they are in agreement, and are friends and companions. But the purpose here is not that if they show enmity, they will still prosper; rather, they will ruin their own homes.
