Wert thou to speed through the immensity of space and traverse the expanse of heaven, yet thou wouldst find no rest save in submission to Our command and humbleness before Our Face. (edit) |
(40) O Son of Man,
Gallop through the wilderness of oblivion, then hasten in the field of the sky. You will find comfort only in submission to Our command and in humility before Our Face. (edit) |
42 | (٤١) يَا ابْنَ الإِنْسانِ
عَظِّمْ أَمْرِي لأُظْهِرَ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَسْرارِ العِظَمِ، وَأُشْرِقَ عَلَيْكَ بِأَنْوارِ الْقِدَمِ. (edit)

Magnify My cause that I may reveal unto thee the mysteries of My greatness and shine upon thee with the light of eternity. (edit) |

Magnify My command that I may reveal unto you the secrets of greatness, and shine upon you with the lights of eternity. (edit) |
43 | (٤٢) يَا ابْنَ الإِنْسانِ
كُنْ لِي خاضِعًا لأَكُونَ لَكَ مُتَواضِعًا، وَكُنْ لأَمْري ناصِرًا لِتَكُونَ فِي المُلْكِ مَنْصُورًا. (edit)

Humble thyself before Me, that I may graciously visit thee. Arise for the triumph of My cause, that while yet on earth thou mayest obtain the victory. (edit) |
(42) O Son of Man,
Be submissive to Me so that I may be humble towards you, and support My command so that you may be supported in the Kingdom. (edit) |
44 | (٤٣) يَا ابْنَ الوُجُودِ
اذْكُرْنِي فِي أَرْضِي لأَذْكُرَكَ فِي سَمائِي؛ لِتَقَرَّ بِهِ عَيْنُكَ وَتَقَرَّ بِهِ عَيْنِي. (edit)

Make mention of Me on My earth, that in My heaven I may remember thee, thus shall Mine eyes and thine be solaced. (edit) |

Remember Me in My earth so that I may remember you in My heaven; that your eye may be comforted thereby, and My eye may be comforted thereby as well. (edit) |
45 | (٤٤) يَا ابْنَ العَرْشِ
سَمْعُكَ سَمْعِي فَاسْمَعْ بِهِ، وَبَصَرُكَ بَصَرِي فَأَبْصِرْ بِهِ؛ لِتَشْهَدَ فِي سِرِّكَ لِي تَقْدِيسًا عَلِيًّا، لأَشْهَدَ لَكَ فِي نَفْسي مَقامًا رَفِيعًا. (edit)

Thy hearing is My hearing, hear thou therewith. Thy sight is My sight, do thou see therewith, that in thine inmost soul thou mayest testify unto My exalted sanctity, and I within Myself may bear witness unto an exalted station for thee. (edit) |

Your hearing is My hearing, so listen with it; your sight is My sight, so see with it; that you may bear witness in your inner self to My supreme sanctification, so that I may bear witness for you in Myself to an exalted station. (edit) |

اسْتَشْهِدْ فِي سَبِيلي رَاضِيًا عَنّي وَشاكِرًا لِقَضائِي، لِتَسْتَريحَ مَعِي فِي قِبابِ العَظَمَةِ خَلْفَ سُرادِقِ الْعِزَّةِ. (edit)

Seek a martyr’s death in My path, content with My pleasure and thankful for that which I ordain, that thou mayest repose with Me beneath the canopy of majesty behind the tabernacle of glory. (edit) |

Strive in My path, content with Me and grateful for My decree, so that you may rest with Me in the domes of grandeur, behind the curtains of might. (edit) |
47 | (٤٦) يَا ابْنَ الإِنْسانِ
فَكِّرْ فِي أَمْرِكَ وَتَدَبَّرْ فِي فِعْلِكَ. أَتُحِبُّ أَنْ تَمُوتَ عَلَى الْفِراشِ أَوْ تُسْتَشْهَدَ فِي سَبِيلِي عَلَى التُّرابِ، وَتَكُونَ مَطْلِعَ أَمْرِي وَمَظْهَرَ نُوري فِي أَعْلَى الْفِرْدَوْسِ، فَأَنْصِفْ يا عَبْدُ. (edit)

Ponder and reflect. Is it thy wish to die upon thy bed, or to shed thy lifeblood on the dust, a martyr in My path, and so become the manifestation of My command and the revealer of My light in the highest paradise? Judge thou aright, O servant! (edit) |

Contemplate your affairs and ponder upon your deeds. Do you prefer to die in bed, or to be martyred in My path on the soil, to be the rising sun of My cause and the manifestor of My light in the highest paradise? Be fair, O servant. (edit) |
48 | (٤٧) يَا ابْنَ الإِنْسانِ
وَجَمالِي تَخَضُّبُ شَعْرِكَ مِنْ دَمِكَ لَكانَ أَكْبَرَ عِنْدي عَنْ خَلْقِ الكَوْنَيْنِ وَضِياءِ الثَّقَلَيْنِ، فَاجْهَد فِيهِ يا عَبْدُ. (edit)

By My beauty! To tinge thy hair with thy blood is greater in My sight than the creation of the universe and the light of both worlds. Strive then to attain this, O servant! (edit) |
(47) O Son of Man,
The beauty of My countenance is adorned by your hair dyed with your own blood. That is greater in My estimation than the creation of the two realms and the illumination of the two worlds. Therefore strive for this, O servant. (edit) |
49 | (٤٨) يَا ابْنَ الإِنْسانِ
لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلامَةٌ؛ وَعَلامَةُ الْحُبِّ الصَّبْرُ فِي قَضَائِي وَالاصْطِبارُ فِي بَلائِي. (edit)

For everything there is a sign. The sign of love is fortitude under My decree and patience under My trials. (edit) |

الْمُحِبُّ الصَّادِقُ يَرْجُو الْبَلاءَ كَرَجاءِ الْعاصِي إِلَى الْمَغْفِرَةِ وَالمُذْنِبِ إِلَى الرَّحْمَةِ. (edit)

The true lover yearneth for tribulation even as doth the rebel for forgiveness and the sinful for mercy. (edit) |

إِنْ لَا يُصيبُكَ البَلاءُ فِي سَبِيْلِي كَيْفَ تَسْلُكُ سُبُلَ الرَّاضِينَ فِي رِضائِي، وَإِنْ لَا تَمَسُّكَ المَشَقَّةُ شَوْقًا لِلِقائِي كَيْفَ يُصِيبُكَ النُّورُ حُبّاً لِجَمالِي. (edit)

If adversity befall thee not in My path, how canst thou walk in the ways of them that are content with My pleasure? If trials afflict thee not in thy longing to meet Me, how wilt thou attain the light in thy love for My beauty? (edit) |

If you do not face tribulation in My path, how can you tread the paths of those who are contented in My satisfaction? And if hardship does not touch you, longing to meet Me, how can light reach you, loving My beauty? (edit) |
52 | (٥١) يَا ابْنَ الإِنْسَانِ
بَلاَئِي عِنايَتي، ظاهِرُهُ نارٌ وَنِقْمَةٌ وَباطِنُهُ نُورٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ. فاسْتَبِقْ إِلَيْهِ لِتَكُونَ نُورًا أَزَلِيًّا وَرُوحًا قِدَمِيًّا، وَهُوَ أَمْري فَاعْرِفْهُ. (edit)

My calamity is My providence, outwardly it is fire and vengeance, but inwardly it is light and mercy. Hasten thereunto that thou mayest become an eternal light and an immortal spirit. This is My command unto thee, do thou observe it. (edit) |

إِنْ أَصَابَتْكَ نِعْمَةٌ لَا تَفْرَحْ بِها، وَإِنْ تَمَسَّكَ ذِلَّةٌ لا تَحْزَنْ مِنْهَا، لأَنَّ كِلْتَيْهِما تَزُولانِ فِي حِين وَتَبِيدانِ فِي وَقْتٍ. (edit)

54 | (٥٣) يَا ابْنَ الوُجُودِ
إِنْ يَمَسَّكَ الفَقْرُ لَا تَحْزَنْ، لأَنَّ سُلْطانَ الغِنى يَنْزِلُ عَلَيْكَ فِي مَدَى الأَيَّامِ. وَمِنَ الذِّلَّةِ لَا تَخَفْ، لِأَنَّ الْعِزَّةَ تُصِيبُكَ فِي مَدَى الزَّمانِ. (edit)

إِنْ تُحِبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّوْلَةَ الباقِيَةَ الأَبَدِيَّةَ وَهذِهِ الْحَياةَ الْقِدَمِيَّةَ الأَزَلِيَّةَ، فَاتْرُكْ هذِهِ الدَّوْلَةَ الْفانِيَةَ الزَّائِلَةَ. (edit)

56 | (٥٥) يَا ابْنَ الوُجُودِ
لَا تَشْتَغِل بِالدُّنْيا؛ لِأَنَّ بِالنَّارِ نَمْتَحِنُ الذَّهَبَ، وَبِالذَّهَبِ نَمْتَحِنُ العِبادَ. (edit)

Busy not thyself with this world, for with fire We test the gold, and with gold We test Our servants. (edit) |

أَنْتَ تُريدُ الذَّهَبَ وَأَنا أُريدُ تَنْزيهَكَ عَنْهُ، وَأَنْتَ عَرَفْتَ غَنَاءَ نَفْسِكَ فِيهِ، وَأَنَا عَرَفْتُ الْغَناءَ فِي تَقْدِيسِكَ عَنْهُ. وَعَمْري هَذا عِلْمِي وَذلِكَ ظَنُّكَ؛ كَيْفَ يَجْتَمِعُ أَمْرِي مَعَ أَمْرِكَ. (edit)

Thou dost wish for gold and I desire thy freedom from it. Thou thinkest thyself rich in its possession, and I recognize thy wealth in thy sanctity therefrom. By My life! This is My knowledge, and that is thy fancy; how can My way accord with thine? (edit) |
(56) O son of man,
You desire gold while I aim to purify you from it. You recognize wealth in possessing it, whereas I see wealth in your renunciation of it. This is my knowledge and that is your assumption; how can my command coincide with your will? (edit) |
58 | (٥٧) يَا ابْنَ الإِنْسانِ
أَنْفِقْ مالِي عَلى فُقَرائِي لِتُنْفِقَ فِي السَّمآءِ مِنْ كُنُوزِ عِزِّ لا تَفْنى وَخَزائِنِ مَجْدٍ لا تَبْلى؛ وَلكِنْ وَعَمْري إِنْفاقَ الرُّوحِ أَجْمَلُ لَوْ تُشاهِدْ بِعَيْني. (edit)

Bestow My wealth upon My poor, that in heaven thou mayest draw from stores of unfading splendor and treasures of imperishable glory. But by My life! To offer up thy soul is a more glorious thing couldst thou but see with Mine eye. (edit) |

Spend my wealth on my poor, so you may spend in the heavens from the treasures of an everlasting honor and the reserves of an unperishing glory; but by my command, the expenditure of the soul is more beautiful if you could see with my eyes. (edit) |
59 | (٥٨) يَا ابْنَ البَشَرِ
هَيْكَلُ الْوُجُودِ عَرْشي، نَظِّفْهُ عَنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ لاِسْتِوائِي بِهِ وَاسْتِقْرارِي عَلَيْهِ. (edit)

The temple of being is My throne; cleanse it of all things, that there I may be established and there I may abide. (edit) |

فُؤادُكَ مَنْزِلِي قَدِّسْهُ لِنُزُولِي، وَرُوحُكَ مَنْظَرِي طَهِّرْها لِظُهُوري. (edit)
